As such, there is much opportunity for repeated musical selections to add to the unified feel of the season. Conversely, much like Christmas carols, there are an abundance of Easter hymns appropriate to the season! So it is here that we enter into a dilemma: do we keep repeating certain hymns and songs or do we take advantage of the rich repertoire of Easter hymns?

Why not both? For the octave day of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday), you may have noticed a repeat of some of the hymns. Going forward from the 3rd Sunday, you will find a variety of hymns and songs for a few weeks. As we progress through the season, we will use a very well known hymn for several weeks, “Hail Thee Festival Day”, appropriate for the season of Easter, as well as Ascension and Pentecost.

There are also the wealth of proper music available for this season. Every day of the week and every Sunday has its own antiphons for the the Entrance, Offertory, and Communion, some of which we use at different times, in keeping both with the tradition of the Universal Church and for some variety in the liturgy.

(Supporting A Community with Kindness) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization where people from all over the world knit/crochet sacks and then donate them (with a bar of soap in each one) to homeless shelters, food pantries, veteran clinics, social service agencies and relief efforts. Since S.A.C.K. was founded in 2017, over 140,000 soap sacks have been donated globally! The response to these soap sacks are overwhelmingly positive especially since people cannot purchase toiletry items such as soap with government subsidies such as food stamps.

The mission of S.A.C.K. is to spread kindness, one sack at a time. Our soap sack donations help to send a message of dignity, hope, love, compassion and health…..emotions that can restore a person, both physically and emotionally. Small actions make a huge difference!

Religious Education Fall 2021-2022 This is for grades 1-6 and is from September 2021 through April 2022.

1st and 2nd graders are on campus and have a choice of: Tuesday 4:30-5:40 pm OR 5:50-7 pm 3rd - 6th graders have weekly virtual LIVE classes through Google Classroom.

The two choices are: Tuesday 4:30-5:30 OR Wednesday 6-7 pm Early Registration is $200 and ends May 2nd Regular Registration is $250 and ends on June 1st Registrants after close date ( June 1) will be subject to availability and a late fee of $50/child.

FIRST COMMUNION UPDATE First Communion will be held in October of 2021 for this years 2nd graders as well as any family that chose to defer their child last year.

The exact dates are still TBA. However, we will be having the Lottery on 1 May 2021 at 4pm in Madonna Hall. We will have 7th and 8th grade volunteers helping the children with their May Day craft at the back of Madonna Hall while the lottery is going on at the front.

Confirmation Prep Classes Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 Classes will be offered both on campus in-person and in the live remote Google classroom format On campus in person option will be offered on Mondays 4:15-6:15 pm Live remote Google Classroom option will be offered on Sundays from 5:00-7:00 pm. Prayer for Vocations #32: (USCCB) Lord Jesus, Son of the Eternal Father and Mary Immaculate, give to our young people the generosity necessary to follow Your call and the courage required to overcome all obstacles to their vocation. Give to parents that faith, love and spirit of sacrifice which will inspire them to offer their children to God's service and to rejoice whenever one of their children is called to the priesthood or religious life. May Your example and that of Your Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph encourage both young people and parents and let Your grace sustain them.

Quo vadis…

My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter. Laying down our lives for the sake of others does not mean that we will be nailed to a cross. It does mean that we commit ourselves to “good deeds” (first reading) such as caring for the sick, forgiving those who wrong us (last Sunday’s gospel), loving others as God has loved us (second reading). These good deeds are the very “stuff” of our everyday living.

We do not have to go out of our way to be good shepherds. We simply must relate as one filled with new life to those who come our way.

The images presented to us during this season are very powerful. Again this week we are challenged to reflect on how well or how poorly we shepherd people. Parents shepherd their children. Parish staff shepherd parishioners.

Pastors shepherd their staff members and leaders within the community who in turn shepherd others. This call is essential for us as we continue to develop a greater awareness of stewardship and more collaborative models of pastoral oversight. The sharing of responsibility and visioning continues to be a major priority for me as your pastor. All of us must be coresponsible for the mission and ministry of the Church. Much of what has been accomplished is attributed to the faithful and honest sharing of ideas and dreams. Mature Christian disciples are far more concerned with serving the needs of others than with distinguishing themselves as the agents providing the service. Let us strive to live these lofty ideals.

The Easter Season is a time for us to reflect on the gift of Christian Initiation. We are all changed because of our faith in God through Jesus Christ. We are sustained in our beliefs by the Holy Spirit. Let us pray during these days for those preparing for First Holy Communion,

Confirmation, and Infant Baptism. Let us also remember those who are preparing for the Sacraments of Commitment, Holy Matrimony, and Sacred Ordination to the Diaconate and to the Presbyterate (Priesthood). Through our participation in the Sacramental life of the church we are called to share our time and talent. Our Easter Celebrations could not be possible without the tireless efforts of so many. There are way too many to mention. Know that you have a special place in my prayer as you lead us into the future by your example of fidelity and service to our church community.

I am grateful to all those who helped to make last weekend’s Mass and blessing a beautiful communal prayer opportunity. Many thanks for the feedback about phase one of the narthex/ gathering space completion project. The image of Saint Mary, Seat of Wisdom is very traditional.

What I and members of the parish patrimony committee most liked is that the image shows Mary presenting Jesus to all who pass by. This is a fundamental part of our Christian Discipleship…to present Jesus to others. I am grateful to parishioner Ignazio Giuffre for his generous financial support of our parish and of this phase one project in loving memory of Iris Giuffre who died 2 years ago. May she rest in peace.

We continue to make progress with the 2021 Annual Catholic Appeal. Many thanks to all those who have participated. I encourage those who have not to please do so this week. Thank you for your support of our Local Church of the Diocese of Trenton. I am away for a few days of rest and recreation. Our parish staff will ably provide for your needs during my absence.
