As most of you know I underwent a double lung transplant a couple months ago. It’s definitely been a journey and I still have a ways to go on my recovery but I’m amazed at the difference it’s already made in my life. I just wanted to let everyone know how thankful I am for all that my family, friends and community has done for me during this time. Sandy has been by my side through everything and has done anything I needed without question and I know it hasn’t been easy. My kids and their families have been such a big help, organizing fundraisers that helped ease the financial stress I was feeling and always being there to help in any way they could. I’m sure they don’t know what a blessing they’ve been but they have definitely made this easier for us. The rest of our family and friends were there also contributing for auctions, bidding on items or just donating. All of it was such a big help. Thanks to all of you! To WKVI, thanks for the interview Rich did with Sandy to let people know what was going on and to 10-56 Brewery and The Point thanks so much for the way you give back to the community. I know it meant a lot to us and we appreciated all you did. I know a major part of the successful surgery and my recovery has been all the prayer from so many people. I have heard from so many how they have been praying and had their churches praying. I feel like I must have been on the prayer list at every church in our area and some in other states... I am so grateful for this small town and all my friends and family near and far. Thank you all again and hopefully I can repay some of what has been done for me..

In November of 2021, I read an Indianapolis newspaper headline about N.W. Indiana becoming the LARGEST solar farm in the US., covering 13,000 acres, in Starke and Pulaski counties. I wasn't concerned. It's fine. It's over by Bass Lake, it isn't in my backyard. I turned a blind eye. We are currently past that 13,000 acreage number in Starke county, alone. But what is the real number? Hmm, that's a mystery... In May 2023, it was somewhere around 16,000 acres in Starke county, with Pulaski county climbing to 25,000 plus acres.
I'm just wondering, does every county in Indiana have solar farms? What is the total amount of Indiana land in solar? And what about the other 49 states? How many acres total? AND: Since this is a WORLDWIDE climate plan, to save the Earth, Can ANYONE tell me what the reflective light from the solar panels, worldwide, will do to the climate? Because there has to be some kind of reflective light. We are being told that solar is a good thing..Maybe it is. I'll be dead before I see the full truth of the matter, pro or con.
In late May, 2023, I was told about a solar meeting. Being curious, I went. At the 2nd meeting, Guess what?, I found out through the rumor mill ( faster than the speed of light) ( no letters of notification in the mail, for me), that solar is coming near me. NOW, I am paying attention , attending meetings, and hearing the concerns of others. Concerns, like the two families that will have solar panels on 3 sides of their property, and possibly across the street too. I see their pain and worries. What if it was your property? Surely, there are no medical side effects from having solar panels 50 foot? from your property line. Solar panels are contained, they don't leak, so we were told, so their drinking water, well water, will, of course, be safe.
On Weds., Aug. 9th, some concerns were raised at the Starke County Planning Commission, to review the current ordinances, and to make the necessary changes to safeguard other families. Questions also were asked , at a prior Starke County Commissioners meeting. Questions about the possibility of future solar battery storage in Starke county. Will future battery storage be needed? What safeguards, or provisions, are in place, if that indeed is the case?
At this time, there are issues that need to be fixed. Does Starke county have the resources to fix them? Starke county does need the financial help that solar will bring. There is indeed a lot that could be done with solar money. Hopefully, there will be public input on how it is spent. But I have to wonder, what will be the REAL cost for all who live here? What protections are in place for our children, grandchildren, and our community? I wish we could have the wisdom of Solomon ,and the compassion of Jesus, and do what's right for this place we love.

A quote to ponder:
Mice die in mousetraps because they do not understand why the cheese is Free.
