BARBARA JEAN HAWKEY

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Barbara Jean Hawkey, 54, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at her home. She was born April 28, 1969, in Knox, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Verna (Reinhardt) Greer. Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, embroidering and spending time with her family. She worked in Environmental Services for Culver Academies.

She is survived by her husband, Tim and four daughters: Katherine Trent of Denver, Colorado, Annabelle Trent of North Judson, Kaitlin (Zack) Jones of Warsaw, Indiana and Kristin Marie (Travis) Gentry of Rochester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Greer and one sister, Tina Greer.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Arrangements were made by Braman & Bailey Funeral Home in North Judson.

PHYLLIS M. KOCHEL

LOGANSPORT, IN - Phyllis M. Kochel, 75, died at 5:25pm, Monday, June 12, 2023, at McKinney Place in Logansport, Indiana. She was born April 23, 1948, in Linton, Indiana, to the late Ernest F. and Thelma M. (Carroll) Nolting. On May 17, 1968, in Logansport, she married Ronald J. Kochel. He died March 2, 2020.

Phyllis was a 1966 graduate of Winamac High School. She retired in 2010 from Herd Seeder in Logansport, where she had worked as an office manager for 31 years. She attended Walton United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed line dancing, golfing, painting and flower gardening. She made beautiful barn quilts, hand woven baskets, homemade dolls and rag rugs.

She is survived by two brothers: Jerry (Joyce) Nolting of Newberry, South Carolina and Fred (Jill) Nolting of Noblesville, Indiana and one sister, Doris (Tony) Griffith of Cromwell, Indiana. She was preceded in death by two half siblings: Ernest F. Nolting and Patricia Stewert.

Graveside services were held Friday, June 16, at the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition), with Pastor Larry Zehring officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Walton United Methodist Church or to McKinney Place.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

DONNA M. ST. CLAIR

WINAMAC, IN - Donna M. St. Clair, 94, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, Indiana. She was born May 14, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Charles and Nellie St. Clair Hoffman. On September 21, 1946, she married Ralph J. Meyer. He died August 5, 1992. In 1996, she married Devon St. Clair. He died May 16, 2001.

Donna enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, square dancing, and painting saw blades. She belonged to different organizations through St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church and a home-ec club.

She is survived by two sons: David (Holly) Meyer of Monon, Indiana and Charles (Bonnie) Meyer of Brookston, Indiana, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one sister, Alice (Devon) Fritz of Fowler, Indiana. She was preceded in death by two sons: Thomas and Robert Meyer, two step brothers: Keith and Jim Hoffman, one brother, Robert Hoffman and one half brother, Harold Hoffman.

Services were held Monday, June 19, at Frain Mortuary, with Rev. Daniel Shine officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph West Cemetery in Pulaski, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be given to The Pulaski Christmas Lights Fund or the Good Samaritan Shop in Winamac.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

FLOYD DEAN KISTLER

VALPARAISO, IN - Floyd Dean “Pap” Kistler, 88, died Friday, June 16, 2023.

Visitation from 11am-1pm EDT, Friday, June 23 at Frain Mortuary, with services starting at 1pm with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac, Indiana.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

DENIS GRANGER

KNOX, IN - Denis “Jean” Granger, 88, died Wednesday, January 4, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born September 26, 1934, in Montreal, Canada to the late Joseph and Aurelie Granger.

Denis left Canada to work in the Indiana steel mills and was an ironworker for 46 years. His work took him all over and he worked on some impressive buildings such as the 1976 Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec and the Sears Tower in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox, Indiana and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved boating, traveling and tinkering on projects.

He is survived by his wife, Lola

M. Granger, one son, Pierre (Sandi) Granger, one daughter, Chantal Granger Burke, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Granger and one daughter, Linda Williams.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, June 23, at 12 Noon CT at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.

REBECCA ANN MCKEE

PLYMOUTH, IN - Rebecca Ann “Becky” McKee, 61, died Sunday, June 18, 2023, at her home. She was born June 15, 1962, to Larry and Karen Keehn.

Becky was a 1980 graduate of Knox High School in Knox, Indiana. She loved crocheting, couponing, going to garage sales and spending time with her sons.

She is survived by her sons: Justin and Joshua McKee of Plymouth, Indiana, her mother, Karen Keehn of Knox, one brother, Greg (Deeann) Keehn of Knox and two sisters: Laurie (Andy) Spurgeon of Winamac, Indiana, Kim (Mike) Redlin of Knox. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry and grandparents: Otto and Mildred Keehn and Charles and Hannah Wallace. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the family or to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.

BILL BYER

WARSAW (CHAPMAN LAKE), INBill Byer, 82, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was born September 10, 1940, in Knox, Indiana to the late George and Laura (Stipp) Byer.

Bill was a 1959 graduate of Knox High School, where he played football, basketball and track and was inducted into the Knox Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Purdue University as a walk-on football player and graduated in 1964 from Ball State University. He was a veteran of the US Air Force as a pilot flying KC-135 refueling tankers during the Vietnam era. He was a corporate pilot for 29 years with Amoco/ BP. He loved flying and was proud to have flown several past presidents, a first lady and other notables including: Father Hesburgh, Ann Landers and Ed McMahon. He was a member of the Walnut Creek United Methodist Church and had served on the Missions Committee. He loved community service work, mission trips, golfing, boating, working in his yard, tinkering and taking friends and family boating on Chapman Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Kay

“Katie” Siebenthal Byer, two children: William Todd (Julia Wallace) Byer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Mindy (Mike McCartney) Lawton of Loveland, Colorado, two grandchil-

dren, two great grandchildren and one brother, George Jr of Knox. He was preceded in death by siblings: James and Patricia Byer.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 28 from 5-7pm at the Titus Funeral Home. A life celebration will begin at 11am on Thursday, June 29, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Memorial contributions may be made to Servants at Work, Inc.
