MARY GRACE TRENNER

CAMPBELL, CA - FORMERLY OF SAN PIERRE, IN - Mary Grace Trenner died Wednesday, August 22, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born June 19, 1953 in Griffith, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Trenner.

Mary was a 1972 graduate of North Judson-San Pierre High School. She lived most of her life in California. She enjoyed coming back to Indiana to spending time with family and friends, visiting the Sisters of Little Company of Mary in Illinois, old movies, reading, going on boat rides to see dolphins and collecting lighthouses.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Judith Betts, Peter Trenner and Robert Trenner.

A memorial mass is scheduled for October 4 at 4pm CST at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in North Judson, Indiana.

Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.

TERRY LEE FAWLEY

KNOX, IN - Terry Lee Fawley, 61, died Thursday, September 4, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. He was born March 24, 1964 in Knox to the late John and Doris (Rowe) Fawley. On October 10, 1981 he married Deborah Craig. She died June 3, 2015.

Terry was in a band called Rock Bottom. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons: Joshua (Jessica) Fawley of Knox and Terry (Stacy) Fawley of North Judson, Indiana, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers: John (Myra) Fawley of Knox and Joe (Vickie) Fawley of Winamac, Indiana and three sisters: Lisa (Steve) Wagers, Sherry (Chuck) McCoy and Wanda (Dave) Roberts, all of Knox. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alex Fawley.

Friends will be received from 10am till time of service at 1pm on Wednesday, September 10, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the family.

Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

ROY ALLEN GARLACH

FRANCESVILLE, IN - Roy Allen Garlach, 62, died Friday, September 5, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. He was born May 10, 1963 in Tacoma, Washington to Rita Louise (Pearson) Ellett. Roy graduate from Hebron High School in Hebron, Indiana. He served in the US Army. He enjoyed traveling the country as a truck driver, farming, giving to others and anything related to guns.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen, three sons: Matthew Garlach, Timothy (Katie) Garlach and Christopher (Carlie Elston) Garlach, one daughter, Samantha (Devin) Barz, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Wynnita Garlach and two step siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita, step father, Jerrone Garlach and grandparents, Glenn and Mildred Pearson. Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 9 at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Francesville.

VINCENT D. JACOBS

KNOX, IN - Vincent D. “Vince” Jacobs, 63, died Saturday, September 6, 2025 in La Porte, Indiana. He was born May 21, 1962 in Knox, Indiana to the late Raymond Thomas and Clarice (Brewer) Jacobs.

Vince was a member of the Local #81 Union Laborers and worked for Larson-Danielson Construction.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mopar muscle cars and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy, four sons: Nick Jacobs and Devann (Kelly) Biddle, both of Knox, Daniel (Lindsy) Jacobs of Noblesville, Indiana and Chad (Clara) Biddle of Wicklow, Ireland, four brothers: Garrett (Sheryl) Jacobs of Inwood, Indiana, Greg Jacobs of Knox, Chris (Lisa) Jacobs of North Judson, Indiana and Shane Jacobs of Bremen, Indiana and one sister, Shawna (Craig) Clemons of Plymouth, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one son, Brandon Biddle and one brother, Brock Jacobs.

Friends will be received from 10am till time of service at 1pm on Saturday, September 13, with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the family.

WANDA L. ROBERTS

CULVER, IN - Wanda L. Roberts, 68, died Thursday, September 4, 2025. She was born October 23, 1956 in Knox, Indiana to the late John H. Fawley and Doris (Rowe) Fawley.

Wanda had worked for many years for the State of Indiana at the Division of Families and Children. She also loved planting and tending to her flowers and her many rescued dogs and cats and she cherished spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, David, one daughter, Roxane Martinkus of Knox, one grandson, and siblings: Martin (Vicki) Fawley of Winamac, Indiana, John (Myra) Fawley of San Pierre, Indiana, Sherry (Chuck) McCoy and Lisa (Steve) Wagers, both of Knox. Preceded by brothers Alex & Terry Fawley.

Services were held Monday, September 8, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox.

JULIE ANN HICKS

LaGRANGE, IN - FORMERLY

OF WINAMAC, IN - Julie Ann (Webb) Hicks, 68, died Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. She was born January 25, 1957 to the late Charles R. “Chuck” and Mary Ann (Hauser) Webb. On September 24, 2005, in Winamac, married Samuel Hicks.

Julie was a 1975 graduate of Winamac Community High School and later graduated from the Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She retired from Parkview LaGrange Hospital where she had worked as a phlebotomist. For many years she worked at Winamac Community Middle School and held various summer jobs and before that, she ran a daycare from her home. She loved spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and loved taking road trips with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel, one daughter, Alison (Marc) Peterson, one son, Charlie (Brandi) Schlabach, three step sons: Jeffrey (Retha) Hicks, Steven (Stephanie) Hicks and Randall (Kayleigh) Hicks, sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step daughter, Jennifer Ann Pack.

Services were held out of town.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

CARL THOMAS

WINAMAC, IN - Carl Thomas, 75, died Friday, September 5, 2025 at his home. He was born April 17, 1950 in Winamac to the late George and Beatrice (Fisher) Thomas. On March 29, 1970, in Winamac, he married Joyce White.

Thomas was a 1969 graduate of Culver High School and began his career at McGills (Emerson). He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Francesville, Indiana and for over 30 years he volunteered with a local jail ministry-Prisoners of Christ. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed building model planes. He loved his family very much.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, one daughter, Jeanette (Michael) Pursifull of Winamac, one son, Christopher Thomas of Mishawaka, Indiana, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two brothers: Roy Thomas of Plymouth, Indiana and Mitchell Thomas of Ora, Indiana. She was preceded in death by siblings: Beatrice Jackson and Thomas Thomas.

Visitation will be from 2-6pm EDT on Thursday, September 11, at Frain Mortuary. Services will be at 10am EDT on Friday, September 12 at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition). Memorials may be made to Lifewise Academy in Winamac.

WINAMAC, IN - John Edward Masterson died Sunday, September 7, 2025. The family is honoring his wishes and no services will be held. Semper fi.

PALMER E. BLACK SR.

CULVER, IN - Palmer E. Black Sr., 75, died Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born December 10, 1949 in Morehead, Kentucky to the late Wilbert and Missouri (Combs) Black.

Palmer was retired from the UAW, having worked many years at Ford Motor Company. He loved working on old cars, trucks and tractors and hanging out with his friends at O’s Tap.

He is survived by his children: Palmer (Theresa) Black Jr. of Knox, Indiana, Anthony “Tony” (Rachel) Black of Culver, Angel (Ryan) Leazenby of Salt Lick, Kentucky and Briana (Kory) Vinogradov of Tampa, Florida ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and siblings: Wilbert “Bug” (Sue) Black, Joan (Tommy) Fouch, Bonnie Jones and Gus (Darlena) Black, all of Morehead. He was preceded in death by five siblings.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 12 from 4-7pm CT at M.C. Smith Funeral Home with services on Saturday, September 13 at 10am CT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral home in Knox.
