INFANT PAUL EUGENE BAUMAN V

STAR CITY, IN - Infant Paul Eugene Bauman V was born on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN.

Although his time on Earth was short, his life brought great joy to many. He will always be loved by his parents, Paul Eugene Bauman IV and Madison L. Arvin of Star City, IN.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 7 from 5-7 PM EST at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, IN. Memorials may be made to Paul Eugene Bauman IV and Madison L. Arvin.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

DONALD G. DOMMER

WINAMAC, IN - Donald G. “Don” Dommer, 93, died Monday, October 27, 2025 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Winamac. He was born on February 22, 1932 in Denham, IN to the late Otto L. and Mollie E. (Henning) Dommer. On August 15, 1953, in Winamac, he married Hannah M. Garling.

Don was a veteran of the US Army, having served at Ft. Knox, KY where he served in the Honor Guard and Color Guard with the US Army 3rd Armored Division. with the IUOE Local #150. For many years, Don was an avid HAM Radio operator “N9IDL”. He was a talented woodworker, who blessed many with his creations. Don enjoyed finding bargains at garage sales. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah, one daughter, Kim Goodridge of Kokomo, Indiana, one son, Mark (Jodie) Dommer of Winamac, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Mary Abbott of Winamac. He was preceded in death by siblings: August Dommer, Walter Dommer, Helen Berg, Thelma Weldy, Velma Kasten, Harold Dommer, Mable Hankey, Henry Dommer, Marcella Hoffman, Richard Dommer and his twin, Rev. Ronald Dommer, Graveside Services were held Monday, November 3 in Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church or Winamac VFW Post #1728. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

PHYLLIS BATHKE

MEDARYVILLE, IN - Phyllis Bathke, 77, died Friday, October 31, 2025 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville, Indiana following a brave battle with cancer. She was born on January 12, 1948 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Robert C. and Alma L. (Linback) Ewing. On November 28, 1970, She married Theodore M. “Ted” Smolek in Winamac, Indiana. Ted was killed in a plane crash on November 16, 1973 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. On July 17, 1982, she married Arden Bathke

Phyllis graduated from Winamac High School in 1966 and went to work as a telephone operator in Lafayette, Indiana. She was an active member of St. John Church, serving as church secretary and teaching Sunday School. She was a devoted farm wife and enjoyed family gatherings. Phyllis was outgoing and kind to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Arden, three grandchildren, one great grandson, three brothers: Robert L. (Peggy) Ewing, Inman, South Carolina, David (Carol) Ewing, Monticello, Indiana and Daniel Ewing, Lafayette and one sister, Virginia Ewing, Dayton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by: one son, Kurt N. Smolek, one infant daughter, Lisa Alexandria Bathke and one sister Beverly Steele. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM EST Wednesday, November 5, at Frain Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM EST Thursday, November 6, at St. John Church in Medaryville, Indiana with Rev. Curtis Bond officiating. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Medaryville. Memorials may be made to St. John Church. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Medaryville.
