KATHY J. JACKSON
LOGANSPORT, IN - Kathy J. (Robison) Jackson, 53, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. She was born December 5, 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Kathy was a 1990 graduate of Winamac High School, Winamac, Indiana, and earned an Associate’s degree from Ivy Tech and worked as a licensed Realtor. She was active in 4-H in her youth and was currently serving as a volunteer with the 4-H Dog Project in Cass County. She was an active member of the Cass County AMVETS Post #82621. She loved dogs and her cats, riding her motorcycle and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, William and Joyce (Wilson) Robison of Winamac and one brother, Brian (Pattie) Robison of Star City, Indiana. She was preceded in death by grandparents: Clay and Erma (Johnston) Robison and John and Violet (Bitterling) Wilson.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm on Thursday, May 15 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Private services will be held at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Tom Woodley officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery (Town Addition). Memorial contributions may be made to Cass County AMVETS Post #82621, the Cass County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.

KAY F. VAN COUTREN
WINAMAC, IN - Kay F. Van Coutren, 74, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at her home, following a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born August 9, 1950 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Verlin Kneisley “Hap” and Beaulah Mazie (McCurry) Toumine. On July 29, 1972 in St. Louis, Missouri, she married Tom Van Coutren.
Kay was a 1968 graduate of Winamac High School. She had worked at Eaton Controls in Winamac for many years before becoming a florist and opening “Kay’s Flowers & Gifts. After retiring from the flower shop, she worked at Pearl Street Market for 20 years before retiring again. She was a life member of the Winamac VFW Auxiliary Post #1728. She loved spending time with family and friends, trading jokes and funny stories and sharing good food and music.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, two sons: Sean (Carrie) Van Coutren and Bryan (Kerry) Van Coutren, four grandchildren and two brothers: Harold (Darcy) Toumine and Gerald (Debra) Toumine. She was preceded in death by one brother, Sgt. James Verllin Toumine-US Army and two sisters: Mary Lou Antrim and Elsie Faye O’Donnell.
Visitation from 4-8pm EDT on Friday, May 16 at Frain Mortuary with services at 11am EDT on Saturday, May 17 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Winamac VFW Auxiliary Post #1728.

DANIEL E. BENDT
KNOX, IN - Daniel E. Bendt, 76, died Friday, May 2, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. He was born January 10, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to the late Frederick W. and Ruby Fern (Daniels) Bendt. On June 13, 2007, at Winona Lake, Indiana, he married Mary Kessler. She died May 5, 2016.
Dan enjoyed listening to music, cars, reading, operating the Cat D-10 bulldozer and spending time with his family. He had worked as a Steelworker for Bethlehem Steel.
He is survived by one son, Daniel F. Bendt of Walkerton, Indiana, three daughters: Joyce (Josh) Baugh of Hamlet, Indiana, Kathryn (Charles) Galbreath of Knox and Linda (Jeremy) Brantley of Walkerton, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter on the way
Services were held Tuesday, May 6, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice.

GLORIA JEAN STAPLES
ROCHESTER, IN - FORMERLY OF WARREN, IN - Gloria Jean Staples, 77, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, Indiana. She was born January 19, 1948 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Horace “Pete” and Mary M. (Kuhn) Shellhart.
Gloria graduated from Winamac High School and attended Skowhegan Business school in Maine. She served in the US Army WAC for two years. She retired from Pulaski County Human Services where she had worked as a bus driver and bookkeeper for 12 years. She was sweet and spicy with a great sense of humor. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by three daughters: Cora (Roy) Piercy of Warren, Indiana, Teri Staples Thompson of Leiters Ford Indiana and Karen (Paul) Collins of Knox, Indiana, two sons: Guy (Rebecca) Staples of Larwill, Indiana and James (Bobbi) Staples of Ashland, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and five brothers: Bill and Jim Shellhart, both of Star City, Indiana, John (Karen) Shellhart of North Judson, Indiana, Pat Shellhart of Royal Center, Indiana and Peter Shellhart of Winamac. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Larry Staples, one infant grandson, Zachary Collins, one sister, Judy Stankus and one brother, Michael Shellhart.
Services were held Saturday, May 10 at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Teri White officiating. Burial was in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulaski County Human Services.

ROBERT HAMMOND
MEDARYVILLE, IN - FORMERLY OF VALPARAISO, IN - Robert “Bob”
Hammond, 65, died Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Elizabeth (Hohner) and Elmer Hammond. On July 26, 1980, he married Angela Lesniewski.
Bob was a loving husband, great dad and grandfather. He owned his own construction company for 30+ years. He went to school in Wheeler. He loved fishing, playing basketball with his son and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ang, one daughter, Wendy (Donovan) Parker, three grandsons, five brothers and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his son, Rob and two brothers: Dan and Tim.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
