KNOX, IN - Shaun Steve Shepherd, 54, died Thursday, February 19, 2026 in South Bend, Indiana. He was born September 30, 1971 in Winamac, Indiana to Jim Shepherd and the late Hope (Richie) Thomas.
Shaun enjoyed gardening, animals, weightlifting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, Jarrod Shepherd of Culver, Indiana, his father, Jim Shepherd of Knox, one brother, Jim Shepherd Jr. of Culver, one step brother, Josh Linhart of Culver and his companion, Amy Hajek of Knox.
Services were held Saturday, February 28, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
LORI ELDER FORSYTHE
KNOX, IN - Lori Elder Forsythe, 63, died Sunday, February 22, 2026. She was born May 13, 1962 to the late Chet and Billie Jean Elder. On October 11, 1994 she married Sam Forsythe. She is survived by seven children: Brad, Shane, April, Catherine, Samantha, Julieann and Eve, sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her siblings: Margie, Doris, Fern, William, Kenny and Jim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam and two brothers: Chet and Michael.
Services were held Friday, February 27 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home.
Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.
THOMAS RAY FISHER
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Thomas Ray Fisher, 66, died Friday, February 20, 2026 in La Porte, Indiana. He was born July 2, 1959 in Knox, Indiana to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Hensley) Fisher.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing motorcycles, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He worked as a welder for Chief Industry.
He is survived by his wife, Kim, his children: Joshua Fisher of North Judson and Tearanie (James) Dye of Fort Wayne, Indiana and siblings: John Fisher of Knox, Terry Fisher of Winamac, Tim Fisher and Sheila (Steve) Clemons, both of North Judson, Mary Lou Fisher of Culver, Indiana and Sue Preston of Plymouth, Indiana. He was preceded in death by siblings: Cecil, Teresa and Ruth Ann Fisher.
Friends will be received from 4-8pm on Wednesday, March 4 at the Braman & Bailey Funeral Home with services beginning at 6pm. Memorials may be made to the family.

ELMER CHARLES
HOOVER
STAR CITY, IN - Elmer Charles Hoover, 82, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at his home. He was born May 26, 1943 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Charles and Hazel (Hines) Hoover. On August 29, 1965 in Winamac, he married Sharron Kaply. Elmer was a 1961 graduate of Star City High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam and awarded several medals for his service. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed working outdoors, hunting and spending time with his animals. Over the years he also worked at Brian’s in Monticello, Indiana, Plymouth Tube in Winamac and Waylon’s in Royal Center, Indiana and ran a small carpet cleaning
business. He attended Kingdom Hall in Winamac. He is survived by his wife, Sharron and one sister, Lilly Gunter of Tatum, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by siblings: Lind and Bob Hoover and Cecelia Hoagland.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 21 at the Kingdom Hall in Winamac. Memorials may be made to the Jehovah Witness Church.

CINDY LEE PATRICK
KNOX, IN - Cindy Lee Patrick, 60, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born January 16, 1966 in Valparaiso to the late Edward “Gene” Shupe and Geraldine Shupe Hisick. On May 28, 1994 in Valparaiso, she married Jonathan Patrick.
Cindy enjoyed crocheting, gardening, doing puzzles, watching horror and sci-fi movies and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jonathan, children: Mitchell Patrick and Erika Patrick, both of Knox, Tiffani (Zac) Patrick of Plymouth, Indiana and Autumn Patrick of La Porte, Indiana, four grandchildren and two sisters: Cheri (Bob) Edwards of Valparaiso and Angel (Mark) Campbell of Lake Station, Indiana. She was preceded in death by siblings: Edward Shupe Jr., Deborah Cooper, Tammy Creech and Penny Lee.
Friends will be received from 9am till time of service at 11am on Saturday, March 7 at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 11am with Rev Richard Shepperd officiating. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

DEBRA L. KING
KNOX, IN - Debra L. King, 69, died Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was born April 7, 1956 in Knox, Indiana.
Debra was a very active and long-time member of the Moose and had worked for Starke County EMS for over 22 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. She was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James King, children: Dennis (Mary) Pingel of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Martha Green of Union Mills, Indiana, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, her mother, Sue Patrick of Tennessee and siblings: Pam (Bob) Lindermen and Jeff (Melissa) Patrick, both of Tennessee.
Services will be held at 1pm CT on Saturday, March 7 at the Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services. Burial will be private.

LT. COL. CHARLES DARWIN DOBIAS USAF RET.
MONTICELLO, IN - Lt. Col. Charles Darwin Dobias USAF Ret., 83, died Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, Indiana. He was born September 24, 1942 in Ludington, Michigan to the late John James and Mildred Geraldine (Bartlett) Dobias. On October 15,1999 at Scott AFB, St. Clair, Illinois, he married Rebecca Sue Chase. She died on October 12, 2016. Charles was a part of the first graduating class of Mason County High School in 1960. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University where he was also ROTC Cadet Wing commander and a Distinguished Military Graduate. He later earned 2 master’s degrees from Ball State University. He served in the US Air Force in the Republic of Vietnam as an intelligence officer and received many awards and accommodations for his military service. After 47 years of military service, he retired in 2012. He traveled extensively during his service. When searching his genealogy, Charles found he had ancestors who were recognized as Patriots by the Sons of the American Revolution so he joined SAR and served in several positions. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children: Cheryl Deann Dobias of San Pierre, Indiana, Alina Dawn (Martin) Teall of Tawas, Michigan, Charles Darwin (Lisa) Dobias II of Avondale, Arizona, Jeffrey Donald (Marla) Dobias of Tawas, Jennifer Lynn Barbier of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Matthew (Kate) Helfrich of Colleyville, Texas, three step children: Christina (Carl) DolanDerks of Spokane, Washington, David (Stephanie) Stahlhut and Stephanie (Charlie) Shellito, both of Kansas City, Missouri, eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and siblings: Dorian (Sandy) Dobias of Grawn, Michigan and Carolyn (Fred) Janisse of Franklin, Michigan. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Helfrich and one sister, Darlene Wicklund. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation or a charity of your choice.
