TERRANCE PAUL DESAUTELLE
KNOX, IN - Terrance Paul Desautelle, 71, died Monday, June 15, 2026 in Knox, Indiana. He was born February 21,1955 in Marquette, Michigan to the late Eugene and Ruth (Harrington) Desautelle.
He is survived by his children: David (Tiffany) Desautelle of Knox, Terrance (Caissey) Desautelle of Watertown, Wisconsin, Christopher Desautelle of Hammond, Indiana, Janet (Jesse) Holman of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Carrie (Josiah) Manuel of Scottsdale, Arizona, sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Maas.
Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
PAUL RUDY ESPARZA
KNOX, IN - Paul Rudy Esparza, 86, died Monday, June 15, 2026 in La Porte, Indiana. He was born March 29, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Rudolph and Antoinnette (Soto) Esparza.
Paul was a member of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department and the Proviso Twp. He loved being with his family. He worked doing home improvement.
He is survived by his children: Rudy Esparza of South Bend, Indiana, Anthony Esparza of Ohio, Jennie Luciano of Joliet, Illinois, Cynthia (Manual) Cardenas of Cicero, Illinois, Dorothy (Keith) Saeuberlich and Suzette Marie (Ernie) Garza, both of Knox, Dawn (Oracio) Urbina of Spring Grove, Illinois and Lisa Escalante of Homer Glen, Illinois, thirty eight grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren and sisters: Cookie Mojica and Antoinnette Garza, both of Chicago and Michelle (Jamie) Arevalos of Bellwood, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Esparza and children: Paul Anthony Esparza and Tammy Lynn Butler.
Services were held Friday, June 19 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Ferando Jimenez officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
FRANK L. WINTERS
CULVER, IN FORMERLY OF MONTEREY, IN - Frank L. Winters, 89, died Friday, June 12, 2026 at Millers’ Merry Manor in Culver, Indiana. He was born August 9, 1936 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Daniel and Emma (Shorter) Winter. On May 28, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois he married Joan L. Natke. She died December 19, 2022. Frank was a retired union painter and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by two sons: Michael (Julie) Winters of Lansing, Illinois and Brian (Sally) Winters of Dyer, Indiana and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alvin Gregory, two sons: James F. and David J. Winters, one granddaughter, Caitlin Winters and siblings: Madeline Martin, Agnes Siemens, Sister Clarise Winter, Daniel Winter and Catherine Nufer. A graveside service will be held at 11am EDT on Saturday, August 1 at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial mass intentions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
IRENE KOPKA
LAFAYETTE, IN - Irene Kopka, 89, died Monday, June 15, 2026 at IU Health Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. She was born November 18, 1936 in Francesville, Indiana to the late Jacob Albert and Mable Irene (Logan) Vogt. On May 26, 1957 she married Jon Edward Kopka.
Irene was a 1954 graduate of Francesville High School. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette and a retired secretary and homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, baking, traveling, square dancing and was a member of the Hoosier Hoppers Square Dance Club. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by four sisters: Betty (Cecil Williams) Wilmington of Rensselaer, Indiana, Carol Tonjes and Wanda Joyce, both of Lake Wales, Florida and Janet (Roger) Overmyer of Monon, Indiana and two brothers: Jacob “Junior” (Donna) Vogt of Rockport, Indiana and Ronald Vogt of Francesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon and siblings: Anna Louise Topp and Donald Vogt, Sr. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm EDT on Friday, June 26 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ with services starting at 1pm EDT with Elder Gary Gangwer officiating. Burial will be at 3:30pm EDT in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ or the Roseland Cemetery.

DOROTHY L. BRAUN
MERRILLVILLE, IN FORMERLY OF WINAMAC, IN - Dorothy
L. Braun, 82, of Merrillville, IN (formerly of Winamac, IN) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on November 8, 1943 in Winamac to Clement A. and Bernice B. (Kuhn) Braun. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents as well as five siblings, Betty Wallace, Rosemary Cottrell, Patricia Braun, Jerry Braun, and Terry Braun.
A devoted Catholic, Dorothy lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and love for her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Dorothy was the cherished mother of Mary Braun of Florida, Theresa BraunMcCulley of Indianapolis, and John Braun of Logansport, IN. Dorothy lovingly raised three of her grandchildren, Ray Braun, Vinny Pratt, and Samantha McGraw.
She was also a proud and loving grandmother to four grandchildren. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Dorothy is also survived by six siblings, Janice Meyer, Margaret Shegas, Tony Braun, Andy Braun, Ruth Robbins, and Clara Braun.
Known for her warm and nurturing spirit, Dorothy found happiness in baking cookies and cakes for family and friends. She enjoyed crafts and sharing her creativity with those around her.
Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.
Visitation will be from 3-7 PM EDT Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
Memorial Services will be held at 7 PM EDT Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Dennis Faker officiating. Private Burial will take place at Reed Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pulaski County Human Serviecs Food Pantry.

MARY SUE SALYER
CULVER, IN - Mary Sue Salyer, 85 years old of Culver, Indiana, formally of Toto, Indiana, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, June 21, 2026 in Culver, Indiana.
She was born Saturday, October 12, 1940 in Royalton, Kentucky, Daughter of the late Vellis Scutchfield and the late Beulah(Jackson) Scutchfield.
Mary was a member of the Toto Road and 39 Church. She was a former Jackson Township Trustee. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, camping and reading her Bible. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are Son, Leonard(Joy) Salyer of Knox, Indiana, Daughter, Sherry Cowen of Knox, Indiana, 11 grandchildren 24 Great Grandchildren, Brother, Willie(Susie) Scutchfield of North Judson, Indiana, Sister, Elnora Locke of Springfort, Michigan, Sister, Charlene(Lester) Jensley of North Judson, Indiana, Sister, Marcella Minix of Springfort, Michigan, Sister, Brenda Lee(Rick) Draper of Pullack, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fontain Salyer and sons Richard”Rick” Salyer and Dennis Salyer, sister Darlene Baughman.
Friends will be received 10 AM till time of service at 1 PM CST, Wednesday, June 24 at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana.
Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 1 PM CST with Rev. Mike Noble and Rev Eddie Trusty officiating. Interment will follow in the Round Lake Cemetery, Knox, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the family.
Richard Hardy Leadbetter
Richard Hardy Leadbetter, age 99, of Bass Lake, Indiana, passed away June 2, 2026. He was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 28, 1926, to the late George and Edna Hardy Leadbetter. Richard joined the Navy in 1944 and served on several ships including the USS Nereus in the Pacific Theater in Nagasaki, Japan. He was awarded the WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and CO Commendation. As a proud WW II veteran, he was an Honor Flight recipient in 2012.
He met and was married to the love of his life, the late Janice L. McMahon, in 1950 for 73 years. They raised their family in Lansing, IL where Dick was an active community and school board member, owner of Lansing Quick Wash, and Sea Scout leader. Upon retiring from Lansing Paint and Supply, they moved to Bass Lake, IN and wintered in Port Richey, FL. Richard loved the outdoors and traveling and would gather the family for weeks long camping trips to national parks, visiting family in Iowa and Cape Cod, and Las Vegas. He couldn’t bypass a slot machine - and would walk away a richer man every time!
Devoted father to the late Stephen (Cheri) Leadbetter, Linda (Fabrizio) Frigo, Nancy (Bill) McGuinness, Carol (Tim) Shaw; brother to Phillip (Ruth d.) Leadbetter and the late Roger Leadbetter. Loving grandfather to Carrie (Phil) Leadbetter, Kristen (Rockford) May, Andrea Frigo, Croix (Ariana) Frigo, Megan (Mike) Haddad, Heather Peterson, Katie (Zachary) Banas, Connor (Tara Crutchfield) McGuinness, Michael (Teenie) Shaw, Randy (Miranda) Shaw and Tyler (Rose Snooks) Shaw, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors is planned for Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421.
