GERALD LEE LAINE

SOUTH BEND, IN - Gerald Lee “Jerry”

Laine, Jr., 58, died Sunday, June 8, 2025. He was born November 16, 1966 in Belvidere, Illinois to the late Gerald L. Laine Sr. and Mary Romenzak Laine.

He is survived by his companion, Tonya Mareska of South Bend, two sons: Jeremy L. (Aliesha) Laine of Michigan City, Indiana and Justin J. (Kelcey) Laine of La Porte, Indiana, one daughter, Lindsay (Tony) Williams of Lowell, Indiana, nine grandchildren and one sister, Kim (Rusty Burgner) of Knox, Indiana.

Services were held Friday, June 13 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

LOLA CORMIER GRANGER

KNOX, IN - Lola Cormier Granger, 90, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She was born November 27, 1934 in Canada and moved to the US in 1964.

She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two children: Pierre and Chantal, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Denis Granger, one son, Mike and one daughter, Linda.

A graveside service was held Friday, June 13 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

JAMES T. KRAUSE

KNOX, IN - James T. Krause, 63, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025. He was born July 24, 1961 in Oak Forest, Illinois to the late Bernard J. and Patina Stavron Krause. On April 26,1986, he married Paula Obrecht.

James loved coaching one on one wrestling, hunting, wood carving and rescuing and rehabilitating puppies.

He is survived by his wife, Paula, his children: Nicole (Josh) Byrd, Jacob (Ally) Krause and Gunnar (Peyton) Krause, all of Knox and James Krause of Indianapolis, Indiana, one grandchild and one on the way and siblings: Bernie (Joyce) Krause and Patti (Marty) Cusack, both of Oak Forest, Glora Horn of Georgia, Mary Szabo of Virginia and Joey (Pat) Krause of Tinley Park, Illinois.

Services were held Monday, June 16 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 19 at the Krause residence.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

ROBERT M. SHEDROW

KNOX, IN - Robert M. Shedrow, 89, died Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born December 21, 1935 in San Pierre, Indiana to the late William and Eleanor Lempke Shedrow. On October 26, 1957 he married Elsie Ambrose.

Robert was a veteran of the US Army. He worked many years for the Railroad as a signal maintainer and he enjoyed his work so much that he had worked for several short-line railroads part time during his retired years. He was also a very active member of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie, his children: John (Suzanne) Shedrow of Knox and Kim (Steve) Meyers of Lafayette, Indiana, two grandsons and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Gilbert, Devon and Bill Shedrow and one sister, Eileen Rice.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 19 at 1pm CT, with visitation two hours earlier at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Committal services will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Traditions Health Hospice or the Starke County Humane Society.
