HOWARD ALLEN LEFFEW
La Crosse, Indiana - Howard Allen “Bub” Leffew, 79, died Sunday, June 7, 2026. He was born April 21, 1947 in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Howard M. Leffew and Alice (Watson) Leffew Clayton. On April 13, 1968, he married Pamela Turner. She died October 2, 2018.
Howard was a 1966 graduate of La Crosse High School and served in the Army Reserves. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed raising cattle, watching the cattle show at the county fair, spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by three children: Lisa (Don) Guse of Wanatah, Indiana, Troy Leffew of Knox, Indiana and Brian (Sheila) Leffew of La Crosse, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two sisters: Bonnie (Jake Cooper) Hajek and Annette (Allen) Brown. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Aiken.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 10 at the O’Donnell Funeral Home. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse. Memorials may be made to the La Crosse Fire Department.
Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson, Indiana.
RONALD PITTS
Ronald Pitts, age 75 of Knox, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026 at his home. He was born September 17, 1950 in LaPorte, Indiana to Mimard and Lucy (Rowe) Pitts.
He had retired as a foreman from Norfolk and Southern Rail Road and had worked farming after his retirement. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his longtime friend, Cindy Carroll, his children, Ronnie Pitts (Tara) of North Judson, Laurie McCay (Russell White) of Knox, Rhonda Noah (Wayne) of Knox, Susie Boese (Pete) of Walkerton, and John Pitts of San Antonio, Texas, a step-daughter, Sherri Finnegan of Knox, three sisters, Stella Durkin of Pennsylvania, Vernie Howard (Mike) of California, and Juanita Pitts (Doug Allen) of Knox, 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mimard and Lucy Pitts, his wife, Josephine Pitts, a step-son, Roman Finnegan and a brother, Lee “Pete” Trusty. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial followed at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

RONALD L. HERO
Winamac, Indiana - Ronald L. Hero, 86, of Winamac, IN passed away at home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1940 in Hebron, IN to the late Chester and Adeline Brook Hero. On May 12, 1962, Ronald married Barbara J. Duncan in Dowagiac, MI. They shared 57 years of marriage. Ronald was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and dedicated most of his life to talking to people about the Bible.
Ronald was a life long farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by: Linda (Clifford, Jr.) Minter, Winamac, IN Daughter Darryl (Berronica) Hero, Winamac, IN Son, John Hero, Noblesville, IN Son, 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, Joan Shidler, Temple, TX Sister, Albert Hero, Sebring, FL Brother. Preceded in Death

The families of Hillard Minix would like to give a heartfelt thank you to each and every veteran from the VFW Post #748 and the American Legion Post #131, both of Knox, who participated in the military tribute honoring Hillard on Saturday, May 16th at the Highland Cemetery. From start to finish, it was perfect. A sincere thanks to Brent Van Norman for his dedication to teaching the younger generations respect and honor of veterans through the bagpipe and drum music they play during military ceremonies.
And a special thank you to Ruth Sims for making all of this possible.
