The Market Drop Offs PAUL EDWIN GRUBBS
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Paul Edwin Grubbs died Friday, December 12, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. He was born March 18, 1953 in Knox, to the late Jesse Dean and Ralpha (Waymire) Grubbs. On August 23, 2011, he married Carol L. Grubbs. Paul attended North Judson High School, Class of 1971. He spent 33 years working for Aero Metals. He was an avid reader and loved to sing and enjoyed music of all kinds. He cared deeply for his family and friends and made sure they were taken care of. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his children: Sara (Daniel) Preston of Minnesota, Evan Grubbs of Texas and Bryan (Lauren) Whittinghill of Shelbyville, Tennessee, nine grandchildren and one sister, Betty Jo (Mark) Copeland. A celebration of life service was held on Monday, December 22 at the Heartland Christian Center. Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.
DEWEY THOMAS SMITH
DENHAM, IN - Dewey Thomas Smith, 77, died Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was born July 22, 1948 in Decoy, Kentucky to the late Richard and Thelma Smith. Dewey was a talented contractor. He was a kind and generous man and loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife, Anna, daughters: Rose (Manny) Awuku of DeKalb, Texas, Janeen (Keith) Berndt and Deana (Harold) Collins, both of Plymouth, Indiana and Shelley Haddix of Knox, Indiana, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and siblings: Loretta Rowe, Judy Franscoviak, Connie Eckert, Sherry Deery and Richard Smith, Jr. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Smith, one son, Dewey Smith Jr., one grandson, Preston Allen and one sister, Hattie Smith. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson, Indiana.

FRANCESVILLE, IN - Devon Garling, 85, died Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home. He was born October 26, 1940 in Francesville to the late Robert and Ruth (Chamness) Garling. Devon graduate from Monon High School and served in the US Army. He worked for many years at Annis Foodliner in Monon, Indiana. He was an active and devoted member of St. James Salem Community Church in Francesville. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by two nieces and a nephew. He is preceded in death by siblings: Melvin and Richard Garling and Phyllis “Phid” McCormick. Private burial will take place at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville and services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. James Salem Community Church. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Francesville.
LUELLA ROSE PELSY
FRANCESVILLE, IN - Luella Rose “Lue” Pelsy, 92, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. She was born October 12, 1933 in Eureka, Illinois to the late Herman J. and Elizabeth M. (Hangartner) Luginbuhl. On November 9, 1958 in Roanoke, Illinois, she married Ellsworth J. Pelsy. He died May 9, 2012. For nearly 40 years, she kept the books and assisted her husband and later her son with the daily operations of the Francesville Auto Parts Store. She enjoyed being a grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by three sons: Dale (Terri) Pelsy, Roger (Lily) Pelsy and Doug (Katrina) Pelsy, all of Francesville, nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one brother, Ray (Carol) Luginbuhl of Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her step mother, Marjorie B. Luginbuhl and two brothers: Robert J. and Leslie Luginbuhl. Services were held on Monday, December 22 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville, with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial was in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials may be made to the Parkview Haven Retirement Home. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Francesville.
MARY LOIS KOPKEY
WINAMAC, IN - Mary Lois Kopkey, 96,died Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, Indiana. She was born October 9, 1929 in Salisbury, North Carolina to the late Rev. C.D. and Myrtle (Eudy) Barringer. On July 29, 1950 in Winamac, with her father officiating, she married Jay F. Kopkey. He died January 16, 2016. Mary Lois graduated in 1947 from New Castle High School in New Castle, Virginia. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Winamac. She enjoyed going out to eat, cooking and baking and spending time with her family. She was a 50 year member of Crystal OES #165. She is survived by two daughters: Jackie (Jeff) Hadley and Vickie (Rex) Manikowski, both of Winamac, one son, Randie (Chris) Kopkey of Leesburg, Indiana, four grandsons, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Barringer. Services were held Tuesday, December 23 at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating. Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorials may be made to Life Wise Academy at Winamac or Pulaski County Human Services. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
DONALD DEAN VOGT, SR.
FRANCESVILLE, IN - Donald Dean “Don” Vogt, Sr., 79, died Friday, December 19, 2025 at his home. He was born August 11, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Jacob Albert and Mabel Irene (Logan) Vogt. On July 24, 1966 he married Pamela Kay “Pam” Gutwein. She died October 22, 2021. Don was a 1964 graduate of Francesville High School and served in the National Guard for 6 years. He farmed in Pulaski and Jasper Counties and was a John Deere enthusiast. He enjoyed coaching and playing sports. He loved the Lord and his family very much. He is survived by three sons: Donald Dean (Chris) Vogt, Jr. of Bellevue, Ohio, Stephen Michael (Dorene) Vogt of Summerville, South Carolina and Jeremy Brian (Andrea) Vogt of Carmel, Indiana, one daughter, Jenean Elaine (Spence) Stucky of Leo, Indiana, thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five sisters: Betty (fiancé Cecil Williams) Wilmington, Irene Kopka, Carol Tonjas, Janet (Roger) Overmyer and Wanda Joyce and two brothers: Jacob “Junior” (Donna) Vogt and his twin Ronald Vogt. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Louise Topp. Services were held Sunday, December 21, at Frain Mortuary. Burial was in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials may be made to LifeWise Academy at West Central Schools or the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Francesville.
