NORTH JUDSON, IN - Tiffany Anne Kretchmer, 40, died Saturday, July 18, 2026, as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident. She was born March 30, 1986 in Hammond, Indiana to Diana Kretchmer.

Tiffany graduated from North Judson-San Pierre High School and earned an Associate’s degree to become a CNA at a doctor’s office in Hammond. She enjoyed making plans with friends, motorcycle rides, watching movies, going to the beach and spending time with her daughters. She was a member of St. Cecilia Church in DeMotte, Indiana.

She is survived by her daughters: Haven L. and Karlie B. Kretchmer, her boyfriend, Jay Taylor, her mother, Diana and one sister, Tabatha M. Moore.

Friends will be received from 11am till time of service at 12 Noon CST on Saturday, August 15 at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home.

MIRIAM ALICE OSBORN

STAR CITY, IN - Miriam Alice Osborn, 55, died Sunday, July 26, 2026. She was born July 30, 1970 in Peru, Indiana to Samuel Alan and Bonnie Jean (Nickels) Winegardner.

Miriam was a 1988 graduate of Logansport High School in Logansport, Indiana. She had worked at United Technologies, Carter, and Dick’s Sporting Goods Warehouse. She enjoyed going to the movies, listening to music, spending time with friends and family, watching NFL football and NASCAR and was an avid Indiana Colts and Chase Elliot fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Green of Star City, one son, Jacob (Amber Watts) Green of Kewanna, Indiana one granddaughter, one brother, Billy Gunter of Westfield, Indiana and five sisters: Anna Winegardner of Royal Center, Indiana, Christina Hickman of Peru, Jane Homburg of Fulton, Indiana, Melissa (Bobby) Heishman Beebout of Clymers, Indiana and Melissa (William) Hefner of Delphi, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel, her mother, Bonnie Jean Winegardner Miller and one brother, Johnny Gunter.

A celebration of life was held Thursday, July 30 at the Logansport VFW. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Melissa Hefner.

CAMDEN, IN - Charles Wood Jr., 61, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born June 23, 1965 to Charles Wood Sr. and Donna Kay Minix. On July 22, 2000, he married Tricia Rodriguez.

Charles will be remembered for his love of family, his kind heart and memories created with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Tricia, children: Stephanie (Joshua) Yocum of Monticello, Indiana and Dimitri (Gina) Rodriguez of Lafayette, six grandchildren, his mother, Donna Sowards of North Judson, Indiana and siblings: Doug (Becky) Wood of New Braufels, Texas, Mike (Rachelle) Wood of Pensacola, Florida, Henry Wood of Westville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one son,Stephen Manuel Wood, his father, Charles and one sister, Samantha Angeledes.

Services were held Saturday, August 1, at the Braman & Bailey Funeral Home.

PATRICK LEE CHALIFOUX

MEDARYVILLE, IN - Patrick Lee Chalifoux, 61, died Monday, July 27, 2026 at his home. He was born April 17, 1965 in Hammond, Indiana to Gary and Thelma Cottrell Chalifoux. On April 15, 1989, in Medaryville, he married Clarinda Mullins.

Patrick worked as a laborer for Local 41 in Hammond and worked in the heating and cooling business in Ohio and had also worked for CFS in Winamac, Indiana. He enjoyed spending time with is family, talking on his CB radio, listening to music, gardening and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Clarinda, two sons: Curtis (Kasey) Chalifoux and Thomas Chalifoux, both of Medaryville, three grandchildren and two brothers: Gary (Janie) Chalifoux of San Pierre, Indiana and Tony Chalifoux of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by one son, Cory Lee Chalifoux and his parents, Gary Chalifoux and Thelma Cottrell-Higgins.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, August 1 at the American Legion Hall in Wheatfield, Indiana.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Medaryville.

WARSAW, IN - FORMERLY OF KNOX, IN - Pamela Gum, 70, died Saturday, July 25, 2026 in Warsaw, Indiana. She was born December 5,1955 to the late Vincent Sarzana and Ramona (Osborne) Sears.

Pamela enjoyed singing, playing guitar and drums, gardening, cooking, traveling and riding her motorcycle.

She is survived by one daughter, Erika Howard of Knox, two grandchildren, one sister, Teresa (Timothy) Graham of Piqua, Ohio and one half brother, Vincent Sarzana Jr. of Troy, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, Benton Christopher Howard, one grandson, Tyler Patrick, and half siblings: Jerry Sosby and Linda Sarzana.

No services will be held at this time. Interment will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the funeral home.

GARY “MICHAEL” VERMILYER

WINAMAC, IN - Gary “Michael” Vermilyer, 71, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana, due to heart failure. He was born April 21, 1955 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Charles F. and Anzy L. Chafins Vermilyer. On August 12, 1974 he married Brenda Huhnke.

Mike was a machinist at Plymouth Tube in Winamac, Indiana for many years and a longtime member of UAW Local 1448. He enjoyed drag racing, classic muscle cars, riding his motorcycle and taking care of his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, one daughter, Michelle (Dewayne) Neuenschwander of Winamac, one son, Michael Vermilyer of Indianapolis, Indiana, three grandchildren and siblings: Karen Overholt and Sheila Conley both of Knox, Indiana, Sandy Vermilyer of Georgia, Terry Vermilyer, Bobby Vermilyer of La Porte, Indiana and David Vermilyer of North Judson, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Christine Vermilyer.

WINAMAC, IN - Linda Jean Burns, 71, died Thursday, July 30, 2026.

For more than 20 years, Linda dedicated her career to the nonprofit world, where she touched countless lives with her compassion. She loved playing cards, going to garage sales, afternoon car rides and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Burns, four children: Heather (Chris Pettit), Sam (Rachel) Burns, Emmy (Anthony) Cambisi and Jeff (Kathy) Burns, nine grandchildren and siblings: Rob (Karen) Rife, Faye Fagner, Kim Rife and Karen Budd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mary Ann Hatfield Rife.

Services were held Monday, August 3, at Frain Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Burns officiating. Burial was in the Bell Center Cemetery in Bell Center, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Bell Center Bible Church or the Pulaski County Human Services Food Pantry.

CONNIE LYNN BRUCKER

WINAMAC, IN - Connie Lynn Brucker, 73, died at 1pm on Sunday, July 26, 2026. She was born October 18, 1952 in Logansport, Indiana to the late John and Shirley Ringen. On April 28, 1973, she married Phillip E. Brucker.

Connie was a 1970 graduate of Culver Community High School in Culver, Indiana. She worked as head librarian at the Monterey Public Library. She enjoyed trail riding, camping, taking special trips with her daughters and baking blueberry pies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip, three daughters: Dawn (Michael) Gustafson, Crystal (Brian) Kocher and Ashley Brucker, seven grandchildren and siblings: Dennis, Nancy and Danny.

A church service will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 11am at the First United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

BETTY R. NERGER BURGER

KNOX, IN - Betty R. Nerger Burger, 90 died Monday, July 27, 2026 in Knox, Indiana. She was born April 9, 1936 in Knox to the late Frank and Anna (Beauchamp) Walker.

Betty was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church and had worked as a receptionist for H & R Block. She enjoyed painting, dolls, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Thomas Lee Fletcher of Union Mills, Indiana, Donna (Steve) Conger of Plymouth, Indiana and Connie (Robert) Thornton of Johns Island, South Carolina, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Burger, two sons: Randall Ray Fletcher and Donald Eugene Fletcher, one grandchild and siblings: James Everett Walker, Anabelle Walker, Evelyn Jones, Kathryn Robinson and Gail Stalker.

Services were held Monday, August 3, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating. Burial was in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox.

BETTY JEAN (BURKE) SULLIVAN

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Jean (Burke) Sullivan, 86, who departed this life on July 29, 2026, in Midland, Michigan. Betty was cherished by family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her kindness, warmth, and generosity. Born on May 2, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Betty moved to North Judson, Indiana at the age of ten. She attended SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic schools and then graduated from North Judson High School where she was a member of the band, choir, and crowned Homecoming Queen. On October 3, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry G. Sullivan of Winamac. They shared almost 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Their loving union was blessed with two children, Jerry (Jay) Gene Sullivan, Jr and Christine Marie. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She later sold advertising for The Market in North Judson for years before retiring. She never met a stranger, and all her customers became friends. She enjoyed her “Friday Night Eats” group with dear friends and drinking vodka on the rocks with olives. Traveling was a hobby. She traveled all over the United States, visited Italy, and she especially loved her favorite island, St Maarten, where she visited each year for thirty years with her husband and close friends, Janet & Keith Fingerhut. But her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone she met was told that her two kids gave her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She held many cousins’ sleepovers, attended their sporting events, supported their college years, and never let them leave Grandma’s house hungry or empty handed. She loved nothing more than hosting parties and making big family dinners. Her spaghetti was practically world famous. Betty is survived by her daughter, Christine Wood and her husband Todd Miller; Daughter-In-Law Patricia Sullivan; Sister Carol and husband Dan Gehring; Brother Jim Burke and wife Elaine; Granddaughters Anna Sullivan (Paul Hilliger), Katie Keyser (Nick), Alyse O’Keefe (Jake); Elizabeth Crawford (Storm). Grandsons Jason Sullivan, Zachary Wood (Alexandra), and Joseph Wood. Great grandchildren Julian, Adrian, Holden, Jordan Jacob (JJ), Maya and Michael. Step grandchildren Andrew Miller, Dashia Rolfe (Craig) and step great grandson Graham.

Her special guy Robert (Bob) Miller and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded by her husband Jerry Sullivan; Son Jay Sullivan; and parents Jim and Eve Burke. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation honoring Betty's life on Wednesday, August 5th 10am12pm CST at O’Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson, IN. Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon CST at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Father Terry Bennis presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church or the National MS Society, PO Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090-1891.

VIRGINIA NEACE

KNOX, IN - Virginia Neace, 83, died Friday, July 31, 2026. She was born August 17, 1942 in West Virginia. On April 11, 1959, she married Jerry Neace.

Virginia loved dancing to bluegrass music, cooking, playing baseball with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. She was known to her grandchildren as “Red Hair Grandma”. She spent many years in the hollers of West Virginia with her siblings: Wilber, Linda, Dorothy, James, Billie, Nancy, Mary, Sam, Gary David and Joe Trent.

She is survived by sons: Kenny Neace of Knox and Vincent Neace of Culver, Indiana, six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great

granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her son, Robert Neace, grandchildren: Nolan Neace and Angela Neace and her parents, Mamie and Paul Trent.

Services were held Tuesday, August 4, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Burr Oak Cemetery in Culver.

WINAMAC, IN - Clifford Dale Minter Jr., 69, died Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born May 23, 1957 in Seymour, Indiana to the late Clifford Minter Sr. and Mary Louise Blevins Minter. On November 19, 1999, he married Linda Hero.

Clifford worked at Plymouth Tube in Winamac and was a member of the local union at Plymouth Tube. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, gardening and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, three daughters: Misty (Harold) Conklin of Galveston, Indiana, Brandi Shepherd of Florida and Jessica (Steven) Oakes of Kokomo, Indiana, one son, Clifford Dale Minter III of Logansport, Indiana, four step children: Gary (Jenny) Suter of Winamac, Heather (Dustin) Knoll of Chewey, Oklahoma, Charles Michael (Britnee) Suter of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Ronald (Christy) Leydet of Falcon, Colorado, twenty three grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and siblings: Gail Wheetly and Allen (Debra) Minter, both of Logansport. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Natosha Cunningham.

Private graveside services will be held at the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.

PLYMOUTH, IN - Bert Lee Briggs, 69, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

He was born April 11, 1957 in Knox, Indiana to the late Lee Briggs Sr. and Dorthea Briggs.

He is survived by one daughter, Ayla Briggs and siblings: Lee Briggs and Dorothea Grimmett. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Bihlman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

MONTEREY, IN - Janice Ann Westphal Reinhold, 78, died Friday, July 31, 2026 at her home. She was born September 19, 1047 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Fred Raymond and Dorothy Elizabeth Apostal Westphal. On March 18, 1972, in Winamac, Indiana, she married James Raymond Reinhold.

Janice was retired from Culver Community Schools where she was a bus driver for 25 years.

She enjoyed working beside her husband on their farm. She worked as an election poll worker in Monterey and Winamac for many

years and was an active worker on the Pulaski 4-H Board, Pulaski 4-H Council, 4-H Extension Board. She was the president of the 4-H Dairy Project. She was a member of St. Anne’s Rosary Society. Janice enjoyed playing Bingo, Bunco and cards with friends. She loved to garden, mow her yard, watch birds and butterflies, cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, James, her children: Dewayne (Christine) Reinhold of Walton, Indiana, Marsha (Tim) Chaney of Erin, Tennessee, Judith “Judy” (Steve) Reinhold-Colen of Tipton, Indiana, Kevin (Amber) Reinhold of Rochester, Indiana, Richard “Rich” (Abbie) Reinhold and Elizabeth “Liz” Reinhold, both of Monterey, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one brother, Wayne R. (Karen) Westphal of Winamac. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Angel Baby.

Visitation from 2-8pm EDT on Thursday, August 6 at Frain Mortuary. Services will be held at 10am EDT on Friday, August 7 at the funeral home with Rev. Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Monterey. Memorials may be made to the Pulaski County 4-H Foundation.

NORTH JUDSON, IN - Hershall “Andy” Vires, 81, died Thursday, July 30, 2026. He was born July 24, 1945 in Perry County, Kentucky to the late Tilden and Nannie Belle (Spencer) Vires. On June 25, 1966 in Medaryville, Indiana, he married Phyllis Miller.

Andy was a foundry worker at Teledyne Casting. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing, gardening, being outside, attending sporting events and his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, children: Andrea (Mike) Darnell and David Vires, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren with one on the way and siblings: David (Diana), John and Carole. He was preceded in death by siblings: WIlliam, Harrison, Alice, Pearl, Donna and Shirley.
