SK1 LARRY CARL MILLER

Winamac, IN - SK1 Larry Carl Miller, US Navy, Ret. of Winamac, IN passed away at his home on Friday, August 1, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born on April 18, 1938 in Star City, IN to the late Howard David “Knute” and Esther Ruth (Corts) Miller. At the young age of five years old, his mother died. Larry was raised by his maternal grandparents, Chris and Nellie (Dennewitz) Corts. In his youth, he excelled at sports, especially basketball. After graduating from Star City High School in 1956, Larry joined the US Navy and served his country in Vietnam. On June 25, 1960, he married Beverly Strasser in Winamac. Their union brought three bouncing baby boys into this world: Jeff, David, and Paul. Larry retired from the military in 1975 after 20 years of dedicated service. He then became a truck driver, and that was the job he kept until retirement.

Larry was a member of the Winamac First United Methodist Church, an avid IU Basketball fan, and proud American Veteran. Most of all, he was a loving and supportive husband, dad, and grandpa. His kids and grandkids were always first in his life. He never missed a sporting event and would always pass his knowledge along (whether they wanted it or not).

Larry was devastated when his son, Paul, passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. We are at peace knowing they are together again.

He is survived by: Beverly (Strasser) Miller, Winamac, IN Wife Jeffrey W. Miller, Royal Center, IN Son, David (Sherree) Miller, Bass Lake, IN Son, Michelle Miller, Winamac, IN Daughter-in-law, 9 Grandchildren

JAMES D SCHULTZ SR

North Judson, IN - James Daryl Schultz, 89, passed peacefully in his sleep August 6, 2025, holding his beloved tv remote. Born September 30, 1935, he was just 7 weeks shy of his 90th birthday. His daughter Susie, upset he couldn’t wait 7 more weeks, knows he was antsy to rejoin the love of his life Flo. He will be greatly missed by his 3 children Kathy, Susan, and James Jr, his 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his many friends. Jim packed so much into one lifetime, we’d need a book to cover it all. He enjoyed visiting friends at his daily breakfast spot, Fingerhut Bakery Cafe, talking to local farmers, reminiscing on the good old days and riling up son Jimmy with sports talk. He was always the first to come help, and the first to stir the pot, he worked hard, laughed hard, and kept life interesting. In keeping with his wishes, there will only be a small graveside service at All Saints Cemetery Saturday, August 9 at 11am. He now leaves Kathy in full charge of the tv remote.

O’Donnell Funeral Home of North Judson, IN is in charge of arrangements.

PLEASE GOD, Use me as your instrument. Keep me from saying anything harmful, unnecessary, or distracting.

Amen
