DAVID ENNIS SMITH
HENRY COUNTY, IN - David Ennis Smith, 76, died Saturday, March 15, 2025 after a brief illness perpetrated by a chronic disease. He was born January 21, 1949.
Dave was a 1967 graduate of North Judson High School, North Judson, Indiana and had proudly served in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After receiving an associate’s degree from Valparaiso Technical University, he spent the majority of his career as an Electronic Technician for the US Postal Service in Muncie. Dave fiercely loved many things including his family, friends, K&N filters, the 2nd Amendment, his Toyota 4 Runner, Tom Waits, Wrangler pants and cruising.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Yates), children: Sean Smith and Camy Layne, both of Anderson, Indiana, step children: Bob Garcia, Dan (Sarah) Garcia, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kelly (Lucas) Garcia Reese of Muncie and Abby (Ryan) Coffman Blattner of Russiaville, Indiana and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ennis and Helen Smith and one brother, Palmer “Jake” Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the Memorial Park shelter house in New Castle, Indiana. Dave prioritized sharing his experiences with others and the family encourages attendees to contribute memories and stories that honor that spirit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

ALLEN VERN SHEPHERD
KNOX, IN - Derrick Allen Vern Shepherd, 20, died Friday, March 28, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. He was born October 28, 2004 in Knox, to Mark and Essie (Norem) Shepherd.
A welder by trade, he had worked as a vehicle floor technician at Braun Corporation in Winamac, Indiana. He was a 10-year member of the Starke County 4-H Horse & Pony Club and had many interests, including working on cars and small engines, riding his motorcycle and welding. He loved his horse and dog very much.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Essie Shepherd, two sisters: Kayla and Korie Shepherd, grandparents: Jeffrey and Phyllis Shepherd and Dennis and Veronica Wilson, great grandfather, Russell Moore and his girlfriend, Autumn Ward, all of Knox. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Karlie Shepherd and Kyarah Moore, great grandmother, Essilona Moore and grandfather, Richard Norem.
Services were held Tuesday, April 1 at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gerald Shadrix officiating. Burial was in the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
ROSE M. PAWLIK
GRANGER, IN - FORMERLY OF KNOX, IN - Rose M. Pawlik, 98 died Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was born March 4, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Paul and Anna Sadlon Bejes.
Rose was a huge sports fan, avidly following the Bears, Bulls and Cubs and the Knox Redskins and whatever sports her grandchildren were involved with. She loved cooking for her family and had been named Volunteer of the Year at Countryside Place Nursing Home in Knox for volunteering as a hairdresser for the residents.
She is survived by her children: Roger (Dolores) Pawlik of Alsip, Illinois, Rod (Lisa) Pawlik of Granger and Kim (Paul) Wojtyla of Palatine, Illinois, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement “Kemo” Pawlik and siblings: Bill, Millie, Paul and John Bejes.
Services will be held at 1pm CT on Wednesday, April 2, with visitation two hours prior to services at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Starke County Humane Society.

GOLDING
KNOX, IN - June Elizabeth (Sinn) Golding, 95, died Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was born May 23, 1929. On March 9, 1953 she married Alfred “Jack” Golding. He died in 2016. June was a real estate agent with Murray Real Estate, a beautician and a volunteer at the Starke County Historical Museum. She was a homemaker and a breast cancer survivor. she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, visiting over a cup of coffee and seeing friends in her exercise class. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by two children: Devon (Shirley) Golding and Dalta Jensen, both of Knox, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and siblings: Hazel (Kenny) Berg, Don (Sandy) Sinn, Rachel (Ray) Dowd, Ralph (Grace) Sinn, Evelyn (Joe) Arnett, Glenn Sinn, Mary Ann (Gene) Wheeler and Edna (Joe) Bailey.
Visitation will begin at 11am and funeral services will follow at 2pm on Wednesday, April 2, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Starke County Historical Society. Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
JEANNE RAE SIEVERT
KNOX, IN - (BASS LAKE) - Jeanne Rae Sievert, 76, died Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at her home. She was born June 12, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois to the late Tom and Cora (Floyd) Morris. On May 20, 1989, she married Carl Sievert. Jeanne enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, photography, organizing family get togethers and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Carl, one daughter, RaeJean Zazzara of Arizona, two sons: Michael Smithson of California and James Smithson of Illinois, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Smithson and one grandson, Joshua Zazzara.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
ROBERT M. KELLER
MONTEREY, IN - Robert M. “Bob” Keller, 80, died Friday, March 28, 2025 at his home. He was born January 9, 1945 in Monterey, Indiana to the late Clemont V. and Marjorie Prendergast Keller Sr. On August 24, 1968, he married Sheila Corley.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Monterey High School. He had been a lifelong farmer and was on the Monterey Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Monterey. He enjoyed searching for arrowheads, coon hunting, playing guitar and poker, watching western TV shows, training horses, spending time at Bauer’s Grocery Store talking to customers and friends, time on the farm and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, one daughter, Christine (Pat) Keller Renneker of Plymouth, Indiana, two sons: Robert “Bob” (Jennifer) Keller of Winamac, Indiana and Mark (Stephanie) Keller of Monterey, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four brothers: Tom (Toni) Keller, Jim (Bertie) Keller, Jerry (Rea) Keller and Dan (Peggy) Keller and three sisters: Ruth Zehner, Mary Personette and Margie (Tim) Wise. He was preceded in death by siblings: John Keller, Pat O’Donnell, Clement Keller Jr. and Sheila Keller.
Services were held Tuesday, April 1, at Frain Mortuary, with Father Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial was in the St. Anne Catholic Cemetery in Monterey. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner Children’s Hospital.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
WANDA LOU WAGNER
WINAMAC, IN - Wanda Lou Wagner, 81, died Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, Indiana. She was born October 8, 1943 in Winamac to the late Lewis and Viola (Hettinger) Grant Sr. In 1992, she married Gerald Wagner. He died March 7, 2007.
Wanda was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Winamac. She had worked at Eaton Corporation for 30 years and at Casey’s in Winamac for 20 plus years. She enjoyed having coffee with her girls, going out to eat and spending time with her family. She was a huge John Michael Montgomery fan.
She is survived by three daughters: Becky (Rob) Clarke and Tina Cress, both of Winamac and Edie (Rick) Hunt of Buffalo, Indiana, two step daughters: Dawn Wagner and Heather Kowalski, both of Michigan, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by one son, David Handy Sr., one daughter, Tammy Floyd, one brother and five sisters.
Services were held Saturday, March 29, at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Ryan Eaton officiating. Burial was in the Star West Cemetery, Star City, Indiana.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

WINAMAC, IN - Frederick Richter, 87, died Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born February 7, 1938 in Paxton, Florida to the late Helmut and Edna Janette (Parker) Richter. In 1962, he married Sandra Lee Watts. She died in 2007.
Fred was a 1956 graduate of Winamac High School and graduated from Purdue University School of Engineering and was the former president of the SAE Fraternity at Purdue. He was a veteran of the US Army and served as a Captain. He was the owner of Freddie Can Fix It in Winamac and Monticello Tank in Monticello, Indiana and had worked at Plymouth Tube and Winamac Steel in Winamac. Fred was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac and was a former member of the Star City Lions Club and Kiwanis Club. He was an avid woodworker and was a member of the Tippecanoe Valley Woodworker’s Club and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons: Frederick Scott Richter of Westfield, Indiana and Ryan Lee (Sylvia B.) Richter of Spring City, Tennessee, one daughter, Stephanie Lynne Claytor of Kansas City, Missouri, seven grandchildren and his significant other, Grace Heck of Winamac. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Potts.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, March 27 at the Winamac Public Library. Private burial was in the Winamac Cemetery (Southlawn Addition). Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
