NORTH JUDSON, IN - Edward R. “Eddie” Jacobs Jr., 58, died Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Northwest Health, La Porte, Indiana. He was born August 14, 1967 in Knox, Indiana to Edward Jacobs and Carolyn Vires Jacobs Haskins.
Eddie worked many years as a tool and dye maker. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and berry picking. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn of North Judson and two brothers: Jeffrey L. Jacobs Sr. of North Judson and Brandon Jacobs of Knox. He was preceded in death by his father Edward and grandparents: Rev. Leonard Jacobs and Lydia Jacobs Tilden and Nanabell (Spencer) Vires.
A celebration of life was held Tuesday, April 23, at the Free United Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Trusty officiating.
PLYMOUTH, IN - Dana Emil Rodeghero, 67, died Friday, April 17, 2026 at his home. He was born May 26, 1958 in Joliet, Illinois to the late William “Jack” and Jean Marie (Rueckert) Rodeghero.
On December 12, 1987 in Palos Park, Illinois, he married Linda M. Johnston.
Dana graduated from LincolnWay Community High School in New Lenox, Illinois and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University in Economics. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Plymouth. He worked hard throughout his life and retired last May. He loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, two daughters: Paige A. Rodeghero of Greenville, South Carolina and Gina M. Rodeghero of Plymouth, one brother, Dennis (Margaret) Rodeghero of Joliet and one sister, Denise Gray of New Lenox. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Dean and Dale Rodeghero.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
KNOX, IN - Jane Kay Ols, 84, died Friday, April 17, 2026 in Knox, Indiana. She was born January 12, 1942 in Knox, to the late Chris and Pauline (Fisher) Ols. Jane loved reading, collecting rocks and spending time with her family. She had worked for MPI and the Lock Factory.
She is survived by one sister, Jean Phistry of Knox. She was preceded in death by siblings: Paul, Chris and John Ols, Betty Hollandsworth, Joan Ols, Patty Matzat, Dolly Matzat and Mary Ann Shroeder.
No services will be held at this time. Burial was in the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Arnold
“Ray” Stacy, 70, died Sunday, April 19, 2026. He was born February 11, 1956 in Knox, Indiana to the late Arnold and Rebbie (Howard) Stacy. On August 25, 1984 in Knox, he married Debra Watson. Ray was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed his classic cars, especially his 1970 blue convertible Chevelle. After his retirement from 40 years as a truck driver, he enjoyed working at the Brown Farm. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, two sons: Benton Stacy of Rockville, Indiana and Robert Giggy of La Porte, Indiana, three daughters: Shawn Rose of North Judson, Tonya (Brian) Oliver of Chesterton, Indiana and Kathy (Ray) Singleton of Grovertown, Indiana, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and siblings: Dewight (Gale) Newsome of North Judson, James (Dawn) Newsome of Neenah, Wisconsin, Barbara Williams of Culver, Indiana and Bernice Kline of Berwick, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Raena Beem and one sister, Jodi Stacy.
Services were held Thursday, April 23 at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Ison officiating. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery in North Judson.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Dorothy Margaret (Houdek) Bau, 82, died Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at her daughter’s home. She was born October 23, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late George and Marie (Renner) Houdek. On November 30, 1963, she married Daniel Paul Bau.
Dorothy was a 1961 graduate of North Judson High School, where she played clarinet in band. She earned her registered nurse license for Gary Methodist nursing school. She worked over 30 years at Starke Memorial Hospital as an RN in the maternity ward. She also worked in home health care and was instrumental in transitioning the county’s immunization records to the state-wide computer system. She was a founder of the North Judson Mint Festival, served many years on the hospital and library boards and was a member of the Mint Julips extension club. She enjoyed family tradition, decorating for Christmas, reading, crocheting, painting ceramics sewing, quilting and cooking.
A gathering of family and friends was held on Saturday, April 24 at the O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.
NORTH JUDSON , IN - Donald Koch, 86, died Monday, April 20, 2026 at his home. He was born November 16, 1939 in North Judson to the late Fred and Mary Edith (Gnuschke) Koch. On June 26, 1965 in Knox, Indiana, he married Glory Schadek. She died May 21, 2025.
Don was a life-long resident of North Judson and worked on the family farm and then worked as a machinist at various factories for the next 40+ years, finishing his career as a Group Leader at Dwyer Instruments in Kingsbury, Indiana. He was a 1958 graduate of North Judson High School. Don was an active member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Knox and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, Kids Church teacher, board member, greeter/ usher and did maintenance and remodeling. He loved traveling, farming, gardening, woodworking, mushroom hunting, bike riding and designing and building things.
He is survived by two son: Brian (Heather) Koch of Clearwater Beach, Florida and Doug (Jennifer) Koch of San Pierre, Indiana, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters: June White and Betty (Byron) White, both of North Judson. He was preceded in death by siblings: Leonard, Oscar, Paul and Elmer Koch and Dorothy Trusty.
Services were held Monday, April 27 at the Trinity Assembly of God Church with Rev. Larry Lund officiating. Burial was in the Denham Cemetery in Denham, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Outreach Ministry of the Trinity Assembly of God Church.
Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
KNOX, IN - Charles Edward Begley, 90, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026 in Winamac, Indiana. He was born April 7, 1936 in Wooten, Kentucky to the late Homer and Myrtle (Fields) Begley. On October 22, 1960, in Knox, she married Frances Miller.
Charles was a devote husband, father and pastor. He built and pastored the Blue Sea Baptist Church in North Judson for 20 years and then served Calvary Baptist Church in Knox before founding the Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox, where he pastored for 23 years. He loved his family, tending his garden and serving the people of Starke County.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, two sons: Paul (Heidi) Begley of Lady Lake, Florida and David (Jane) Begley of Knox, three daughters: Sherri (John) Kocher of Winamac, Indiana, Shelby (Ron) Pych of Wanatah, Indiana and Martha “Marcie” (Jake) Stidams of Fort Meyers, Florida, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and siblings: Russell Begley of North Judson and Jean Allen of Knox. He was preceded in death by siblings: Dan and Benton Begley, Margie Delli and Christine Lehman.
Services were held Saturday, April 25 at the Community Gospel Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Begley and Rev. Mack Howard officiating. Burial was in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to the Community Gospel Baptist Church.
Arrangements were mad by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
FRANCESVILLE, IN - Maxine Ann Gutwein, 97, died Thursday, April 23, 2026. She was born October 26, 1928 to the late John and Laura (Kahler) Gudeman. On June 24, 1950 she married Harold Gutwein. Maxine graduated from Francesville High School in 1946 and from the Northwestern Academy of Beauty Culture in Peoria, Illinois in 1947. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Francesville and was the original hairdresser at Parkview Haven for 22 years. She enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Florida. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and was active in Sunday School Storytelling and many church activities and she volunteered at Parkview Haven. She is survived by her husband, Harold, two sons: Jerry (Janice) Gutwein and Jan Gutwein, both of Francesville and one daughter, Joan Gutwein of Lafayette, Indiana, nine grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Brett Gutwein, one great granddaughter, Abigail Koehl and one brother, Richard Gudeman. Services were held Monday, April 27 at the Francesville Apostolic Christian Church with Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial was in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorials may be made to LifeWise Academy at West Central.
