Obituaries MARK ERIC OVERMYER

WOLCOTT, IN - Mark Eric Overmyer, 62, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023. He was born August 28, 1961, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to Danny Lee and Carol Ann (Finch) Overmyer. Mark was a 1981 graduate of West Central High School and took a course at Purdue University School of Agriculture. He began his career in farming with D.L. Overmyer Farms and was currently employed by Monon Valley Ranch. He enjoyed farming, family gatherings and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his mother, Carol Ann of Francesville, Indiana and two brothers: David Andrew Overmyer of Wolcott and Daniel Scott (Rebecca Huber) Overmyer of Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Lee Overmyer and one brother, Jerry Lee Overmyer. Services were held Monday, December 11 at Frain Mortuary QuerryUlbricht Chapel, with Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial was in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Francesville Apostolic Christian Church or the American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.

DONNA TYSON

KNOX, IN - Donna Tyson, 66, died Thursday, December 6, 2023, at her home. She was born January 16, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Edward and Ruth (Hartnig) Eick. Donna was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox. She enjoyed working on craft projects and traveling and she was a huge fan of Princess Diana. She is survived by her long time companion, Garry Hinderlider and one brother, Randy Eick, both of Knox. A graveside service was held Monday, December 11, in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

BONNIE LOUISE FOX

KNOX, IN - Bonnie Louise Fox, 88, died Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born August 3, 1935, in Ober, Indiana, to the late Harry William and Frances Marie (Dickson) Scott. On February 28, 1954, she married Phillip J. Fox. Bonnie was a 1953 graduate of Knox High School and had worked for NIPSCO for 34 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Knox Athletic Boosters for 50 years, volunteering her time with money making activities for the boosters, including running the concession stands at basketball and baseball games. She was also an active member of the Knox American Legion Auxiliary Post 131 for 43 years, volunteering for many events. She was a member the Knox VFW Auxiliary. Bonnie had worked at Girls State for years, spoke at KHS awards days handing out scholarships and in 2004, was inducted into the Knox Athletic Hall of Fame. She is survived by one son, Rodney (Dianna) Fox of Culver, Indiana, two grandsons, five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip and two brothers. Services were held Wednesday, December 6, at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

RICHARD M. LINKUS

KNOX, IN - Richard M. Linkus, 75, died Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home at Bass Lake, Indiana. He was born December 21, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Dorothy Linkus. Richard loved living at Bass Lake and was a long time member and Vice President of the Bass Lake Property Owners Assoc. He was an avid fisherman and boater, loved sports, especially playing basketball and was a staunch supporter and advocate for Republican conservatism. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his children: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Linkus of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jill (Matthew) Wenz of Lisle, Illinois and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Linkus. Services were held Tuesday, December 12, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

KATHLEEN ANN DEDLOFF-ABBEY

KNOX, IN - Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Dedloff, 72, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Knox, Indiana. She was born February 23, 1951, in Knox, to William Joseph and Kattie May (Craigmile) Dedloff. On January 1, 1976, in Knox, she married Randy Abbey. Kathy was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and vacation bible school and was a member of the church choir and a leader of the children’s choir and children’s bell choir. She was a member of the DAR, PEO, a Starke County 4-H leader and helped assist the Bass Lake Fire Department during fires. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. She worked as a school teacher for Knox Community Schools. She is survived by her husband, Randy, two daughters: Karen and Jennifer Abbey, both of Knox, her mother, Kattie May Dedloff of Knox, and two brothers: Craig (Laura) Dedloff of St. Peters, Missouri and Mark (Sandra) Dedloff of Knox. She was preceded in death by her father, William and one sister, Brenda Joyce Dedloff-Newell. Friends will be received 4-8pm on Friday, December 15, at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 11am, Saturday, December 16 at the funeral home, with Pastor Deborah Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox. Contributions may be made to the Knox United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

DONALD B. HALE

WINAMAC, IN - Donald B. Hale, 88, died Monday, December 4, 2023 at Brickyard Terrace Care Center in La Porte, Indiana. He was born April 19, 1935, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Robert B. and Betty Sue (Stephens) Hale. On October 25, 1958, in Bergenfield, New Jersey, he married Jacqueline Waterhouse. Don was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728 and the Winamac American Legion Post #71 and served many years on the local honor guard. He was a member of the Church of the Heartland in Winamac and enjoyed golfing with friends, traveling with his family, attending his grandkids sporting events, the outdoors, especially fishing on the Tippecanoe River and mowing his lawn. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, three daughters: Robin Hale of Indianapolis, Indiana, Deborah (David Whiteman) Hale-Worrell of Westlake Village, California and Tracie (Jeremy) Jones of Winamac and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Goodman, seven brothers: Myrle, Infant Earl, James, Billie “Red”, Robert B. “RB” Jr., Arnold and John P. “JP” Hale and three sisters: Mary Calabrese, Elma Brewer and M. Faye Back. Services were held Monday, December 11, at the Church of the Heartland in Winamac, with Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating. Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Heartland. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
