DAVID SOUTH

KNOX, IN - David South, 61, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Knox, Indiana. He was born June 4, 1962, in Nuremberg, Germany, to the late Fred South Jr. and Barbara Jean (Vitch) South.

David enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, playing cards, his cats and spending time with his family. He had worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Carla South of Valparaiso, Indiana, one brother, Stephen (Lauretta) South of Barrington, Illinois and one sister, Stephanie (Thomas) Alexander of North Judson, Indiana. He was preceded in death by siblings: Michael South and Vicoria Marie South.

No services will be held at this time.

Contributions may be made to the family.

Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

ROBERT L. FOUST

GROVERTOWN, IN - Robert L. “Bob Foust, 71, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born May 7, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Oscar R. and Esther G. Foust. On January 2, 1998, he married Rachelle Jeffers. Bob was a busy man who liked to work. He was also an avid Ham and CB radio enthusiast, loved reading, drawing and painting.

He is survived by his wife, Rachelle, his children: Diana Foust and Rachael Foust, both of Grovertown, Katharine Meader of Michigan, Bobbie Ann Lanning of Florida, Herbert S. Foust of Dyer, Indiana, Shena Foust of Arizona and Joshua Foust of Hamlet, Indiana, seventeen grandchildren, four great grandchildren with a 5th one on the way and his siblings: Deborah Young, Jerry Foust and Timothy Foust, all of Knox.

Services were held Monday, April 8, at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

MICHAEL LINK

MONTICELLO, IN - FORMERLY OF WINAMAC, IN - Michael “Mike” Link, 76, died Monday, April 1, 2024, at IU Health Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born March 28, 1948, to the late Donald Paul and Mary Ellen (Parker) Link. On July 28, 1967, in Pulaski, Indiana, he married Sue “Susie” Smith. She died in a tragic car accident on April 19, 1998.

Mike drove a semi for many years for Tim Powers and recently drove for Adam Loehmer until his retirement.

He is survived by one daughter, Stacey Ingram of Greenwood, Indiana, one son, Aaron (Christi) Link of Winamac, three grandsons, three great grandchildren, two sisters: Cindy (Bill) Scott of Pulaski and Pat Ringen of Danville, Indiana and two brothers: Ron (Karen) Link of Star City, Indiana and Don (Tammy) Link of Winamac. He was preceded in death by one sister, Infant Marie Ann Link.

Private burial will be held at the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Foundation or Turners Syndrome Foundation.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

EARL RICHARD NERGER

KNOX, IN - Earl Richard Nerger, 87, died Saturday, March 30, 2024, in La Porte, Indiana. He was born January 23, 1937, in La Porte, to the late Earl R. Nerger Sr.. and Marceda (Ehret) Nerger.

Earl was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church and a member of the Knox Masonic Lodge #639. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He loved to scuba dive and loved his dog and cat. He had worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Culver Academy.

He is survived by one son, Earl Richard Nerger III and one daughter, Laura (Sonny) Porter, both of Pensacola, Florida, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Ray Nerger.

Services were held Saturday, April 6, at the Knox United Methodist Church, with Pastor Deborah Miller officiating. Burial was in the Oak Park Cemetery in Knox. Contributions may be made to the Knox United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

NORMAN BATHKE

MEDARYVILLE, IN - Norman Bathke, 87, died Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Rensselaer, Indiana. He was born July 14, 1936, in White Post Township, Indiana, to the late Otto and Hilda (Liersch) Bathke. On August 20, 1960, he married Judith Mendenhall. She died June 28, 2015.

Norman was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Medaryville, where he served several decades as treasurer. He was a proud lifelong farmer. He enjoyed his annual trips to Minnesota/Wisconsin and attending his grandchildren’s events. He loved his family very much.

He is survived by two sons: Doug (Sandy) Bathke and Chuck (Sally) Bathke, one daughter, Diana (David) Ricks, five grandsons, five great grandchildren and one brother, Arden (Phyllis) Bathke. He was preceded in death by one infant grandson, Alex Douglas Bathke.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 10, at 11am EDT, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, with Pastor Don Embree officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Medaryville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville.
