JOSEPH TRAVER HESS
NORTH JUDSON, IN - Joseph Traver Hess, 74, died Friday, January 12, 2024, in North Judson, Indiana. He was born September 23, 1949, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Benjamin and Norma Jean (Seitzinger) Hess. Joseph enjoyed woodworking, running his firewood business and spending time with his family. He had worked as a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, one daughter, Rachel (Mike) Billisitz of South Bend, Indiana and two brothers: Jeffrey (Diane) Hess of Crown Point, Indiana and Justin (Regina) Hess of Valparaiso, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Hess. Celebration of Life for Joseph and Benjamin will be at the home of Rebecca Hess on Saturday, February 3, from 2-5pm. Arrangements were made by Braman & Bailey Funeral Home in North Judson.
ANN M. TELLSTROM
KNOX, IN - Ann M. Tellstrom, 90, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, at her home. She was born June 4, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Marie (Hook) Birmingham. Ann was a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and at one time a very active member of the altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by her children: Robert G. Tellstrom and James A. Tellstrom, both of Monterey, Indiana, Kenneth H. Tellstrom of California and Janet Tellstrom of Knox, one grandchild and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tellstrom and two brothers: Joseph and Edward Birmingham. Services were held Thursday, January 18, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.
CHERYL ANN STRAUSS
KNOX, IN - Cheryl Ann Strauss, 69, died Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Knox, Indiana. She was born May 13, 1954, in Prineville, Oregon, to the late Anthony and Helen (Harris) Carey. Cheryl was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Knox. She enjoyed pottery, playing the piano, attending Christian and Gospel concerts and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters: Gwen (Riste) Angeloski of Valparaiso, Indiana and Celeste Strauss of Knox, two grandchildren and one sister, Shirley (Brad) Templeton of Eugene, Oregon. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Jim and Bill Carey and two sisters: Louis Allen and Devonne Brown. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church. Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.
KNOX, IN - James “Jim” Henriott, 94, died Sunday, January 21, 2024, following complications from COVID. He was born November 20, 1929, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late John and Edna (Tabler) Henriott. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Rochester High School and went on the Indiana State Teacher’s College in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he majored in Mathematics and Industrial Arts. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he served as a Counter Intelligence Corp (CIC) Agent. He taught and was principal at several area schools and ended his career retiring from the Knox Community School Corporation. He was a 22 year member of the Knox Kiwanis Club, having served as president for 1 year and Chairman of the Christmas Food Baskets project for 19 years. He also was a 5 year member of the Monon Lions Club and served 13 1/2 years on the Starke County Election Board as a Democratic Representative and 6 years as Chairman of the Starke County Scholarship Selection Committee. Jim was an avid golfer. He is survived by three children: Jay (Rosie) Henriott of Jasper, Indiana, Jill (Steve) Harvey of Banner Elk, North Carolina and Ann (Kevin) Nicoson of Romney, Indiana, eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice (Lehman) Henriott siblings: Paul Henriott and Catherine Horban. Viewing hours for family and friends will be Thursday evening, January 25 from 4-6pm CST at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home, with services to be held Friday morning, January 26 at 9:30am CST. A family burial will take place at the Olive Cemetery in Wakarusa, Indiana. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

KNOX, IN - Rebecca “Becky” Cornelius, 53, died Sunday, January 21, 2024. She was born October 13, 1970 in Knox to the late Ron and Glenda Warner. Becky attended Knox High School and Indiana University in South Bend to major in business. She loved to camp with friends and family. Becky was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Jason Cornelius, one son, Jacob Cornelius, two daughters: Kathryn Lynch and Alicia Banta, seven grandchildren and one sister, Wendy Korp. She was preceded in death by one son, Jason Douglas Cornelius Jr. Services will be held Saturday, January 27 at 1pm CT, with visitation 2 hours prior to services at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.
