According to Jennie Conley, “Revelation Wellness is a ministry that uses fitness as a tool to spread the good news of the gospel. It is a faith based training for your body, mind and spirit. We say love God, get healthy, be whole, love others.”

Conley has participated in the training to become a Revelation Wellness instructor.

believe it can open us up to deeper understandings.”

In 2019 she co-hosted a storytelling workshop along with MyPath Bibliotherapy, a regional storytelling organization, and The Times Theater Inc. at the Fulton County Public Library in Rochester. Participants crafted a story they later shared with the group. Weinert hopes to further partner with organizations in the community to offer workshops and Spoken Word events.

Her own life’s art story began at home. “My dad and mom are both creative and I had a lot of fun exploring art in unusual ways. For example, I recall drawing a portrait of my mom on a grocery bag she gave me. My grandpa gave us crayons and let us color the underside of his coffee table and would let us draw scenes on the walls in his basement. Those experiences piqued my interest in the arts.”

A graduate of Western Illinois University, Weinert majored in fine art and has spent most of her career instructing and promoting art. In Illinois she managed the Vogt Visual Arts Center and was part of the Logansport Art Association when she moved to Indiana. Later she joined the Akron Area Arts League and now volunteers on The Times Theater Art Committee in Rochester.

As an avid photographer, she seeks to tell stories through her photos. “When I am in nature, I look for compositions to tell a story, and hope it speaks to others.”

Weinert believes art can lead to stories of self-insight, allowing people to step into the mystery. “I Continued on page 3

Conley said they have been averaging about 25 ladies involved in the group. Some women come to both a Wednesday and Saturday, with an average of 15-20 per session. Any female 13 years and older is invited to join in, however no childcare is provided. All ability levels are welcome and all modifications are shown.

“This is a no judgement space,” added Conley. “If there is a movement that is not available to you, then just march in place. If you are moving your body you are doing it right. Don’t take yourself too seriously. It is about having fun!

“We believe your body is already good, but sometimes bad news gets stuck in good bodies. We fill our bodies with good news as we move.”

Conley is thrilled with this opportunity to lead the group. “I felt called to go through instructor training with Revelation Wellness,” she said. “I also felt led to bring classes to our community, so when the opportunity opened up it all made sense to me.”

She added on the Revelation Wellness website, www.revelationwellness.com, there are in-person and virtual classes and challenges for the whole body — including mind, body and spirit — available.

director for Maria Center Independent Living in Donaldson, Weinert has instructed art to people in different life stages and with varied abilities.

Recently she was selected as a cohort for Lifelong Arts Indiana, an initiative specifically created for instructing those 65 and older.

The Indiana Arts Commission seeks to expand the capacity of teaching artists across the state

and prepare them to deliver arts education programs.

In October she attended a best practices workshop led by Lifetime Arts, the national leaders in creative arts programming. The next part of Weinert’s story is to develop and deliver an art program to older adults in her community.

OBITUARIES James A. ‘Jim’ Fox Head Of Machine Maintenance

James A. “Jim” Fox, 75, Rochester, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.

On Sept. 7, 1946, James Arthur Fox was born in Monterey. He was a treasured son of Frederick William and Elizabeth Winter Fox. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters and 10 -$0(6 $ brothers. ¶-,0· )2; On Nov. 22, 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Miss Wanda Lou Sensibaugh at Rochester’s St. Joseph Catholic Church. They shared 52 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two beautiful daughters. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.

With a strong work ethic, Jim was head of machine maintenance of Hart-Schaffner-Marx, Rochester, for 33 years until they closed. He worked for Braun Corporation in Leiters Ford, and most recently worked for the Miami Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2014. He was gifted with his hands and with intense insight could fix anything.

To relax, Jim loved going to antique stores, swap meets and flea markets. The James Dean Festival was also a favorite destination.

At home, he devoted many hours to his shop tinkering on lawnmowers and cars, doing engine work. With great pride he restored his truck, Camero and a small fleet of pedal tractors.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Wanda, two daughters Connie Malott and companion Brian Nault, Tracy Mappin and husband Matt all of Rochester, 10 grandchildren: Britini McGlothin (Bryce), Breanna Brown, Brantley Malott, Dakota Oldfather and companion Madisyn Carrico, Mack Mappin, Jett Mappin, Oakley Mappin, Wrigley Mappin, Penelope Mappin and Wil Nault; six greatgrandchildren Braycen, Barrett, Kai, Akinnah, Mykah and Kashe.

Also surviving are his siblings Rose Ann Master (Karl) of Monterey, Carl Fox (Mary), Richard Fox (Judy) and Kenneth Fox (Ruth) all of Plymouth and three sisters-in-law: Mary, Chris and Marilyn.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents, a sister Mary Ziegler and the eight Fox brothers: Robert, Paul, Clem, Ted, Ralph, Lloyd, Father Tom and Don and his canine companion, Harley the red Dachshund.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Thursday, Nov. 18, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1300 Main St., Rochester. Rev. Daniel Shine will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery.

Jim’s family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.

To honor Jim’s wishes attire is casual, flannel shirts and blue jeans are preferred. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Arlene C. Hounshell School Bus Driver

Arlene C. Hounshell, 80, Rochester, passed away at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

She was born Dec. 20, 1940, in Rochester, the daughter of Fay J. and Mildred E. (Grossenbacher) Bathrick. She was a proud graduate of the Rochester High School Class of 1959. On $5/(1( & June 19, 1960, at the Rochester First Baptist +2816+(// Church, she married Forrest “Dee” Hounshell.

He preceded her in death on May 28, 2009.

Arlene had worked as a school bus driver for Rochester Community Schools and had also worked for Olympic Fiberglass. For many years, she had been a sales consultant for Tupperware and Avon Products. She had been a volunteer with the Tribal Trails Council of the Girl Scouts for more than 25 years, was an early member of the Rochester Lioness Club, participated with the Swingin’ Dudes Square Dance and had attended First Christian Church.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed crafting, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Dave) Steininger, Rochester, Penny (Don) Bills, Huntsville, Ala., Debbie (Mike) Walter, Nappanee, Jodi (Andrew) Fincher, Akron, Angie (Jason) Hounshell, Tippecanoe, and Holly (John) Fearnow, Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Dan) Gibson, Snohomish, Wash., Marilyn Townsend and Carolyn (Jim) Wagoner, all of Rochester; brother, Keith (Carolyn) Bathrick, Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason Hounshell; brothers, Kenneth Bathrick and Gordon Bathrick; and sisters, Ardith Adams and Gail Hayden.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at New Life Church, Rochester. Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 19, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.

Charlann Cover Inspector

Charlann Cover, 72, Rochester, passed away at 10:34 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Carmel.

Charlann was born in Rochester to Harvey “Sonny” Cover and Georgia Greer Kern. Ralph Roland Pratt World War II Veteran

Ralph Roland “Rolly” Pratt was called home to rest in the arms of Jesus at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.

He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Akron to Ralph and Lydia Beulah (Churchill) Pratt. At 19, he joined the Army and served three years during World War II. After returning to civilian life, Ralph worked in 5$/3+ 52/$1' construction until an opportunity arose to go to Cali35$77 fornia and work for the U.S. Forest Service. Ralph ended his working career as a sales manager in 1984 after spending 31 years at Sears.

Upon returning to Indiana, Ralph met and married Armelia Reeves. To this union, Barbara, Susan, Shirlee and Nancy were born. Armelia died unexpectedly at 40.

Ralph met a widow, Phyllis (Fleck) Davis, and they were married July 18, 1969. Ralph became Dad to four bonus children: Randy, Darlene, Rick and Debbie. The blended family has thus far celebrated 52 years together.

On April 4, 1965, Ralph made a life-changing decision as he accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and began a long, fulfilling Christian legacy, baptizing into Christ many family members and friends.

Left to honor Ralph are his wife, Phyllis (PJ); their children, Barbara G. Barbara, Susan (Fred) Habermann, Shirlee (Steve) Morrison, Nancy (Dairl) Sander, Randy (Pat) Davis, Rick (Susan) Davis, Darlene Shock (fiancé Jim T.) and Debbie (Cyndi Pierce) Davis; 16 grandchildren and mates; and 24 great-grandchildren.

On Aug. 15, 1943, Barbara was born in Rochester to Forrest A. and Edna Marie Harris Calvert.

Growing up, she shared her childhood with four sisters and five brothers. She was a member of the %$5%$5$ $11 class of 1961 of Rochester High School.

78//,6 Barb and Buddy J. Tullis were married Oct. 7, 1966, at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. They shared 55 years of life and all those daughters.

Barb and Bud were the owners of Chamberlin’s Bar for several years and grew to love all of their “bar kids.” Barb retired from Torin (Lau) in 2008, after 40+ years. Barb loved to travel, having getaway weekends with her daughters and sitting on her porch watching the river go by.

Salvation Army launches Virtual Red Kettle Campaign The Salvation Army is officially launching peer-to-peer and crowdfunding campaigns across Indiana that will invite the public to take an active role in supporting the organization. The Virtual Red Kettle Campaign has a goal of raising $250,000 online through the platforms.

The communities, including Warsaw, are each launching peerto-peer campaigns. This allows supporters to create their own virtual red kettle with a personal fundraising goal. The campaigns run through the end of the year.

Residents, businesses, churches, and other organizations in

these Indiana communities are encouraged to support The Salvation Army’s local fundraising efforts this holiday season by participating in the Virtual Red Kettle Campaign. There are many ways to get involved, whether as an individual “virtual bell ringer” or as part of a fundraising team.

Individuals: Visit the local virtual red kettle page and create a virtual kettle with a fundraising goal of one’s choice, whether that’s $50 or $5,000.

Setting up a fundraising page takes just minutes. Once set up, just send the link to friends, fam-

ily, and co-workers and ask they make small donations and share the link with others. Posting on social media pages also gets the word out quickly.

Teams: Join with co-workers, church groups, service clubs, or extended families to create a virtual red kettle team. Set team goals and then engage in friendly competitions to reach that goal.

Businesses: Companies and churches can help spread the word about the campaign by adding a link to the campaign to their own websites, social media pages, and electronic newsletters.

The Salvation Army expects a decrease in funds raised nationally through traditional red kettles because of the closing of many retail stores, shoppers no longer carrying cash, and a drop in foot traffic.

Take a walk through a grocery store and you’ll notice product gaps in the aisles and refrigerated cases; visit a car dealership and you’ll see more asphalt than inventory; go to a restaurant and you might be told what isn’t available.

Such is what happens when an economy rebounds from a pandemic-induced recession a lot faster than expected and demand for goods and services is greater than the supply chain’s ability to satisfy those wants, said Michael Hicks, an economist at Ball State University.

“The supply chain isn’t bro-

ken,” Hicks said. “It’s mostly just stretched.”

Ports have been at near capacity for decades and there’s been a shortage of truck drivers needed to move products for quite some time, so it should come as no surprise nearly every business is coping with shortages to some degree.

Elkhart-area manufacturers have been complaining about the challenging supply issues – and labor shortages – they’ve been facing for more than a year. And though they’re producing RVs and boats at record-breaking levels, most are reporting a backlog of orders extending through much of next year.

“Most Americans continued to work through COVID, and now many of them are spending what they might have saved,” Hicks

said. “Demand is high for almost everything, but the ability to supply that demand is pretty stressed.”

Computer chips have made it impossible for auto manufacturers to keep up with demand for new cars, and higher prices for used cars has now pushed business to repair shops as some consumers are opting to hang onto vehicles a while longer.

But, don’t count on quick service there either.

The need for employees, high demand for services and the possibility of having to locate a part, could result in a wait of several weeks, according to Jay Basney, general manager of Basney Honda in Mishawaka.

“It could be more than a month if it’s a part with computer chips,” Basney said, adding the problems have caused stress for customers, as well as Basney employees who work with them.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep people happy.”

Except perhaps for the computer chips needed to produce vehicles, many of the shortages that consumers might notice appear to be fairly random from week to week. That makes it especially difficult for restauranteurs who might be dependent on specific products for their menus.

“It’s weird stuff every week,” said Pegg Dalton, co-owner of PEGGS restaurant in downtown South Bend. “It might be plastic cups or the chicken we use with our waffles one week. And then it’s plain bagels or a specific tea we offer.”

– and consumers – across the country and are pretty understanding when they’re informed about a menu problem.

South Bend-based Stanz Foodservice and other restaurant purveyors are working harder than ever to find the food and supplies needed by their customers, and when that doesn’t work, the company’s sales staff makes recommendations for substitutions, said company president Mark Harman. ‘”We were running at a 99% fill rate for orders prior to the pandemic,” he said. “After dropping off a bit earlier this year, we’re now back to about 97.5% because of hard work and the flexibility of our customers.”

Beyond the bottleneck at ports, shortages of truck drivers and an overall tight labor supply, companies that produce food also might be impacted by the social distancing required at a plant that is processing food or an ingredient or packaging that they can’t get, Harman said.

“The non-food side of the business is very challenging,” he said, explaining why certain paper and plastic products might be in short supply.

As an economist, Hicks wonders whether some of the shortages consumers are noticing also might be connected to items with the lowest profit margins – especially at grocery stores. During a recent trip to the supermarket, he noted, there was an abundance of fresh and exotic fruits, but empty shelves where saltine crackers once sat.

“If you have a limited number of drivers, it makes sense that you’d use those trucks to move items with the greatest profit margin,” Hicks said. “And it’s not going to get any better with the holiday season fast approaching.”

For many businesses – includ-

ing restaurants – it’s all about persistence and flexibility to get through the current supply-side issues.

If his order from Stanz is missing a few items, Mark McDonnell, founder of the LaSalle Grill in downtown South Bend, won’t hesitate to stop by a grocery store or retailer to get what’s needed at the restaurant.

“Disposables such as gloves, aluminum containers and paper cups can be a problem,” McDonnell said. “You never know what you’re going to be shorted.”

Because of the labor shortage that was plaguing the hospitality industry, LaSalle initially cut down the size of its menu to make it easier for the staff to keep up with food orders. But the change has had the added benefit of reducing the restaurant’s reliance on a wide range of available foods and ingredients.

McDonnell said he’ll also visit a variety of stores in the area to find any perishable and nonperishable items the restaurant needs, even if it means paying higher retail prices.

“You have to be flexible,” McDonnell said.

Harman said he’s already noticed some improvements in the supply issues that were affecting restaurant suppliers across the nation, and he expects things to continue to improve in the first half of next year.

After the holiday rush, Hicks is expecting the same, though there could be some permanent price hikes to account for higher labor costs.

“The great thing about our system is that there are built-in incentives for solving these types of problems,” he said.

Until then, consumers will have to be patient and business owners will have to be adaptable.

“You’re not surviving,” Dalton said, “if you’re not flexible.”

When Jesus comes again (Read Revelation 19:1-21) “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which %\ 5(9 521 also said, Ye 385.(< men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

(Acts 1:10-11) We don’t know when, but Jesus Christ said he was going to come back. What will that be like? Let’s look at Revelation chapter 19.

Revelation 19:11-12 takes the reader to the time of the second coming of Jesus, which will occur before the millennium. The public nature of the coming is depicted by heaven’s visible opening. Jesus rides a white horse, the Roman symbol of victory. Christ’s main task upon returning to earth is making war against the enemies of God. His eyes are pictured as glorious and intense, and he wears many crowns as a symbol of his vast authority. Even at the open manifestation of Christ in his glory, qualities of his person will remain beyond human comprehension.

Revelation 19:13-14 says the meekness and mildness of Jesus Christ at his first coming contrast with his disposition at his second coming. On that day, he will establish his reign on earth by force.

Therefore, he is pictured wearing a robe dipped in blood and accompanied by the armies that were in heaven, who follow him on white horses, wearing pure white linen.

Those armies are followers of Jesus from the church age and the tribulation who will rule on earth with him for a thousand years.

Revelation 19:15-16 tells us at his second coming, Jesus’ weapon of choice will be his word, pictured here as a sharp sword that came from his mouth, so he might strike the nations with it. Because he is king of kings and lord of lords, conquering every enemy on earth will be a matter of relative ease. It will be a matter of speaking.

This is nothing new, though.

From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is pictured as possessing an

authoritative word. John 1:1 says of Jesus Christ, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.” At creation Jesus spoke the words, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3), and by his word light came about.

It was by that same authoritative word Jesus caused the devil to flee in the wilderness (see Matthew 4:1-11) and sent a legion of demons out of a demon-possessed man and into a herd of pigs (see Mark 5:1-13). In each of these instances, the way he brought about powerful results was by speaking his word. And so shall it be at the end of time.

As followers of Jesus, we must not simply know God’s word or study it, but also verbally quote it.

Opossum, safe to handle An opossum is a fat, OUTDOOR NOTES furry animal about the size of a pet cat.

The fur on a possum’s body is gray, on its face and head are white.

Its legs are By Neil Case short, its tail is long and hairless and it has five toes on each foot. More often than not an opossum is called just possum.

A female possum has a pouch and young possums are born in the female’s pouch. A female has one, sometimes two broods in a year and 12, even 13 or 14 young in a brood. But a female doesn’t have that many teats.

Newborn opossums, as many as can, get a hold on a teat and don’t let go until they are old enough and big enough to leave the pouch and begin eat-

ing solid food. It seems cruel but young that don’t get a hold on a teat starve.

When they are old enough for solid food, young opossums let go of their mother, climb outside her body and up onto their mothers back. She curls her tail up over them and they curl their tails around her tail. A female possum with three, four, five young on her back, her tail curled up over them, their tails curled around their mothers is a sight to behold, a sight I’ve only seen a few times.

Possums are animals of the night. They take shelter during the day in deserted dens of other animals, in the shelter of a tall tree, often high up in the tree, 60, 70, 80 feet up, until after dark. They also rest during the day in cavities beneath farm outbuildings, in hollow trees or logs and in culverts. They eat almost anything, fruits, vegetables, rats and mice and other small animals, eggs, insects and carrion.

The possum I’m familiar with, the one I write about, is often called the Virginia possum.

Its range is eastern and central U.S., from the most northern states of the U.S., south to the Gulf of Mexico and west to the Rocky Mountains. There are other species of opossum in Central and South America, one called the mouse opossum and one called the four-eyed opossum. The four-eyed does not have four eyes, but it has a white spot which looks like an eye over each real eye.

A few days ago, I had a close encounter with a possum. One of our dogs caught a possum and I tried to take it away from the dog. When I took hold of the possum, which I did by its tail, it didn’t struggle. I picked it up by its tail. It still didn’t struggle. I tried to throw the possum over our yard fence, away from the dog, but whenever I lifted the possum off the ground, the dog grabbed it and hung on. The possum and dog together were

possum off the ground, whirl it away from the dog and throw it over the fence. The possum didn’t struggle during any of my wrestling, even when I held it up by its tail. The dog did. The possum played dead, played possum, which an opossum often does when threatened.

I’ve not had many encounters with possums. I’ve not seen many possums. Active only at night, and then slow-moving and silent, not moving at all when they fell threatened, they are difficult animals to spot. A raccoon is about the same size as an opossum and much easier to see, to find. It’s also safe to catch, to pick up.

It just goes limp in your hands.

Valley Connects, in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will host a local event for International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20. The event will take place at Recovery Café, 715 Main St., Rochester.

Attendees are asked to bring a picture and/or a small personal item of your loved one to be displayed on the remembrance table.

The event is for adults and students middle school age and older.

Each year, AFSP supports hundreds of large and small Survivor Day events around the world, in

which suicide loss survivors come together to find connection, understanding and hope through their shared experience. While each event is unique and offers various programming, all feature an AFSP produced documentary that offers a message of growth, resilience and connection.

Military Family Relief Fund awareness campaign Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs has launched a statewide campaign to raise awareness about the state’s Military Family Relief Fund.

The fund is designed to assist veterans and their dependent family members experiencing financial hardship with an emergency grant of up to $2,500.

The grant can be used to cover the cost of basic needs such as housing, utilities, food, medical services, basic transportation and other essential household expenses.

Richard Saunders, a veteran who served in the Army, applied for relief from MFRF after losing his job due to COVID. Saunders was awarded funds that helped him secure housing and keep up with utility and vehicle payments.

“After losing my job due to the pandemic, I was behind on bills and needed help to make ends meet,” Saunders said. “I contacted my county veteran service officer and that’s when he told me about the Military Family Relief Fund. It helped me get back on my feet after a difficult time.”

Legislative changes signed into law this summer removed some eligibility requirements, increasing access to a larger number of Indiana veterans.

The changes also freed funds for IDVA to launch the awareness campaign.

Grants are provided on a caseby-case basis and may not ex-

ceed a lifetime limit of $2,500.

The MFRF is funded through the sale of military specialty license plates.

Veterans who need assistance are encouraged to apply, even if they had been denied previously.

Adame left a career in corporate medicine and founded Culver Pediatrics Center to have the freedom to practice the type of

medical care she dreamed of as a young medical student. As one of the few practice-owning physicians in the state, she has the freedom to deliver health care free of interference from bureaucrats, insurance companies, and profit-driven hospital systems.

She is a board-certified pediatrician with over 18 years of clinical experience in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Heyde began practicing yoga more than 10 years ago. She become a registered yoga teacher on the 200 level in the spring of 2020 and began teaching at the Fulton County Wellness Center in the summer of 2020. She recently obtained the level 500 certification.

Yoga is something she greatly enjoys and finds very beneficial for overall well-being. She considers herself fortunate to be able to

Theater receives donations for concessions stand The Times Theater, Inc. has received $2,000.00 from the Fulton County Women’s Giving Circle to use toward a point of sale and equipment to update the concessions stand at the theater.

Improvements to the stand include updating the counter, adding art deco lighting, installing a point of sale system, purchase of additional concessions equipment, safety equipment and concessions consumables.

REMC has also donated $1,000 for this project and O’Dell Lumber & Supply is donating a new counter top for the concessions stand as well.

The theater will depend on

sales at the concessions to provide ongoing support of activities held at the theater. The total budget for the project is approximately $5,000.

Currently, the Times Theater is working on ADA upgrades, approval of emergency exits and installation of lighting. Recent fundraising has secured funds to go toward the concessions stand, marquee, lobby and ticket booth.

New Indiana connectivity program had September launch Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs announced a new program aiming to help more Hoosiers obtain access to reliable and quality broadband.

Homeowners and business owners can apply for consideration for the Indiana Connectivity Program, which opened for applicants in Sepetember. This new tool can connect residents and businesses lacking internet service with internet service providers and assist in the expense of extending broadband to unserved and underserved locations.

“The Indiana Connectivity Program aims to bring high-quality broadband service to unserved and underserved Hoosiers,” Crouch said. “The last year and a half have shined a light on the severe importance of having everyone connected. This program is a path to bring service to households and businesses that are in internet darkness or have speeds that are not meeting the demands on our students who are eLearning or our workforce teleworking.”

Beginning Monday, Sept. 27, Hoosiers and business owners lacking internet connectivity can communicate their interest by entering their address and information into the Next Level Connections portal at in.gov/

ocra/broadband.

Hoosiers can also initiate interest by calling the Indiana Broadband Connect Center, which is open on business days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday, Sept.

“Through this program, we can help more Hoosiers, especially those in rural areas, have better access to quality internet service,” said OCRA Executive Director Denny Spinner. “The Indiana Connectivity Program is one more step toward expanding broadband access to all corners of Indiana.”

In order to be eligible, a location must have access to actual speeds of less than 25 Mbps (download) and 3 Mbps (upload). Inputting location information into the Next Level Connections Broadband portal does not guarantee extension of service.

Eligible locations submitted will be available to service providers within 90 days. Next Level Connections Broadband Program funding may be available to assist in expanding internet opportunities to these locations, following a 60-day bidding process. Once awarded, providers must complete their projects within nine months of the contract date.
