H.O.P.E. continues down positive path

-\S[VU *V\U[` %\ .(,7+ .1(33 $VVRFLDWH (GLWRU A change in leadership at Fulton County H.O.P.E. has brought the organization full circle to one of its founding members.

Last November, Bonnie Dunbar resigned as president for personal reasons. Dunbar had successfully navigated H.O.P.E. for two years through the difficult COVID period and decided now was a good time to step away to pursue other opportunities in Fulton County.

Re-enter Amy Roe, one of the group’s co-founders who also served as its first president prior to Dunbar. While she didn’t plan on reassuming that role, Roe and the organization’s board of directors felt she was the person best suited to take the handoff and continue the many positive things on which it has been building under Dunbar’s leadership.

“Bonnie was the perfect person to lead Fulton County H.O.P.E. during the past two years, through the height of COVID,” said Roe. “We’re thankful for the time she was president.

We couldn’t have done it without her. She was best suited with the unique skill sets to get us through 2020-21.”

Roe added some restructuring has been done, including several new members of its board of directors. Despite any changes, the mission of H.O.P.E. remains the same: “To be the driving force in providing awareness and education to the residents of Fulton County regarding resources as well as provide pathways to accessing those resources.”

in the community who are in need with organizations in the county that can provide the acute help necessary to work the issue.

Roe believes the organization is ready to thrive in the post-COVID world. “There’s a lot of refocusing and reorganization that must occur. After four years, our mission statement is still relevant.

I’ve met with some of our service provider group and gotten some great feedback.”

Roe noted the quarterly meetings with service providers will continue, although they will be reorganized to make better use of everyone’s time. The plan is two of the meetings will allow providers an opportunity to share about themselves and what services they can offer. Roe noted everyone is invited to attend the quarterly meetings even if they don’t believe they have a service that is directly relevant to H.O.P.E.’s mission. Her hope is to increase attendance at the meetings and increasing the networking opportunities for providers and attendees.

Roe also noted the organization is doing away with its committee-based structure, instead utilizing experts in advisory roles, including poverty, substance abuse and mental health. Pat Brown, executive diContinued on page 2

involvement in the Vietnam War was growing and Cudney figured his draft number would be called at any time.

His journey began with boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. From there he went to Fort Ord, Calif., for 17 weeks of advanced infantry training. He then spent time at Fort LewisMcChord, Wash., for more training. Anchorage, Alaska, and Tokyo, Japan, rounded out his first four years of military service. The next two years were spent in Vietnam.

“I learned a lot,” he said. “The sad part is when you go to war you learn things you shouldn’t learn.”

Cudney served with Charlie Co. 1st Battalion, 7th Calvary as a foot machine gunner.

Military food isn’t known to be the greatest, and Cudney confirmed it was the “worst food in the world.” He got creative with the MREs distributed and turned cold canned meat and bread into mini fireroasted pizza.

“I saw a lot of rice, a lot of rice fields, and how it was prepared,” he said of his time in Vietnam and his disdain for rice.

While in Vietnam, Cudney came down with malaria. “I was down for quite a while,” he recalled “The first thing they do is get your fever down by putting you in an ice blanket.

They turn the temperature way down and pour ice over you. You’re kind of unconscious anyway from the high fever.

When you start to turn blue, they take you out.”

“You don’t dare kill a cricket,” Cudney noted. “If you hear a cricket chirping and it stops, that means something’s up there.”

He also stated, “I never slept.

You had to be awake all the time or you might miss it if they called your name to go home.”

Cudney was shot three times in the line of duty during his time in Vietnam and has earned three Purple Hearts.

Along with many other medals, he will also be receiving a Bronze Star for his heroic deeds.

“I went through a lot to get

/$55< &8'1(< those medals,” he said.

He spent a week in Sydney, Australia, for his R&R before returning to Vietnam.

Cudney stated he would’ve stayed longer if they had let him, but the injuries he sustained protecting his unit were too great to continue fighting.

Eventually, his name was called and Cudney was sent home.

“I believe military service is something everyone should experience,” he said.

Cudney grew up in Plymouth. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and has explored every lake in Marshall County.

“If I could make a dollar and it was honest, I’d do it,” he said in regards to earning an income. He also drove a truck and worked as a lube technician.

He retired in 2009. Cudney and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 15 years. They moved to Rochester five years ago and live near Fulton.

The injuries he sustained serving his country still affect him today, but given the opportunity, Cudney would return to fight for America’s freedoms again.

The Cudneys enjoy the musings of their four dogs and relaxing together at home.

The board of directors has devised an ambitious two-year strategic plan for the organization’s immediate future. The plans include: • Launching an organization newsletter highlighting news from service providers.

• Conduct a study in conjunction with Indiana University Kokomo on the soft and hard costs of incarceration.

• Host a H.O.P.E. Floats Friday service provider fair.

• Conduct a transportation study in conjunction with Indiana University Kokomo.

• Continue work on the “H.O.P.E. for the Homeless” project, slated to be taken over by the Recovery Café in the near future.

“Fulton County H.O.P.E. is a labor of love,” Roe concluded. “It’s a beautiful tool that can bless so many families in Fulton County.

Donna Jean Zellers Coffing Correll, 91, Avon Park, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Advent Health, Sebring, Fla. Born June 3, 1930, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Viron Jay and Hallie Ruth (Walker) Zellers. On Sept. 5, 1948, near Twelve Mile, she was married to Donald Leroy Coffing, and he passed April 3, 2003. She was then married to Eugene F. Correll June 18, 2005, at the Mexico Church of the Brethren.

She was a 1948 graduate of Logansport High School and was a longtime member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren and attended Cornerstone Christian Church in Avon Park, Fla. Over the years, she spent time as a hardworking homemaker. The family spent time butchering their own meat, gardening and canning each year. Together, Donna and Don owned and operated their own business, Mill End Upholstery in Peru, from 1983 until 1989.

They also spent many enjoyable days together at flea markets, even starting one in Peru. Since 1979, Donna enjoyed many winters in Florida, until she finally made it her permanent home with her second husband, Gene. For the past few years, Gene and Donna cared for each other through sickness and health, always praising God for giving them the opportunity to be together.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Correll, Florida; children, Twila June (Dave) Collins, Denver, Michael Andrew (Debbie) Coffing, Michigan, Anita Lou (Eugene) Sharp, Newburgh, Christine Sue Coffing, Nevada, Mark Eric (Bonnie) Coffing, Peru, Daniel James (Amy) Sofianos and Lucinda Lynn (Mark) Correll McCann; daughters-in-law, Shirley Correll, Illinois, and Connie Correll, Florida; grandchildren, Janet Ross, Penny Ross (Glenn), Ralph (Dani) Ross, Scott (Kathie) Coffing, Mickey (Leigh Ann) Ross, Serena (Joshua) Francis, T.J. (Crystal) Hackworth, Nathan (Jesse) Collins, Seth (Maria) Coffing, Jessica (Elizabeth) Weiss Bond, Jacob (Jill) Sharp, Amanda (Joshua) Weiss Azucena, Angela Sharp, Alec Sofianos and Isabella Sofianos; greatgrandchildren, Marissa (Michael) Yankosky, Paige Coffing, Cody Francis, Abigail Coffing, Corey Collins, Alexus Hackworth Coffing, Gabriella Francis, Avery Harvey, Zachary Coffing, Riley Collins, Lyla Sharp, Sloan Sharp, Violet Harvey, Marley Rodenberg, Peyton Collins and Cameron Sharp; greatgreat granddaughter, Olivia Yankosky; as well as several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Don Coffing; siblings, Harvey Jay Zellers, Wendell Dewayne Zellers, Francis John Zellers, Vera Jane Zellers Layman and Edward Dean Zellers; and children, Donald Leroy Correll and Ervin Lewis Correll.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Zion Chapel Church, 915 S. Broadway, Peru, with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. The service will be live-streamed. Edward Lee Tarter, 66, Denver, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.

Born Sept. 26, 1955, in Wabash County, he was the son of Fred O. and Francis Jeanette “Pat” (Lehman) Tarter. On Nov. 4, 1988, in Gilead, he was married to Kristi Denise Hammond. (':$5' /(( He graduated from North Miami High School 7$57(5 in 1974 before joining the U.S. Army. He worked at several factories over the years, including BKB Manufacturing in North Manchester, and he was a member of the Denver Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kristi Tarter, Denver; daughter, Emily Rose Tarter, Denver; stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Brad) Kabzinski, Illinois; two stepgrandchildren, Kristin and Jonathon Kabzinski; four sisters, Sheila (Randy) Runkle, Macy, Cheryl Tarter, Rochester, Sandra (Tom) Smith, Elkhart, and Shelly Fry, Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Chris Tarter.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Denver Baptist Church, Denver, with Pastor Bryce Landon officiating a memorial service at 3 p.m. Private burial will be in Gaerte Cemetery, rural Gilead.

Indiana Dunes National Park is going to start charging an entrance fee starting March 31.

The National Park Service says the fee is necessary to help pay for improvements and repairs to the park, which has seen a dramatic increase in visitors since 2019.

NPS says annual attendance has increased from 1.7 million to more than 3 million during the past three years. It became a national park in 2019, having been previously a national lakeshore.

This new fee only affects the national park and does not change the fee collected by the state for entrance into the Indiana Dunes State Park.

When a snow removal condition has been declared, the following traffic regulations will be in effect for all city streets: (A) All regular parking restrictions will remain in full force and effect on streets where parking is only permitted on one side and areas of no parking.

(B) On even-numbered days parking will only be permitted on the side of the street with even-numbered street addresses.

(Even number day is Feb. 2, 4, 6, etc. and example house address numbers would be 730, 1412, 918)

(C) On odd-numbered days parking will be permitted only on the side of the street with odd-numbered street addresses.

(Odd number days are Feb. 3,5,7, etc and example house address numbers would be 501, 1517, 817) (D) These restrictions will remain in force until the snow removal condition has been declared over or the snow has been removed from curb to curb for the entire length of the street.

Let’s study the Bible God answers prayer (Read Philippians 4:6-9) “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

(Philippians 4:19) %\ 5(9 521 “Peace 385.(< with God” is the result of faith in Christ (Romans 5:1); “the peace of God” and the presence of “the God of peace” will come when the believer practices right thinking, right praying, and right living. Worry is tension between the mind and heart. The peace of God will guard (garrison) our hearts and minds if we but meet the conditions he gives.

First, right praying (Philippians 4:6-7). Not just praying, but right praying. The Bible nowhere says any kind of praying will bring peace to our hearts.

What is right praying? It begins with adoration, for this is what the word “prayer” means in Philippians 4:6. This is love, enjoying the presence of God, honoring him in worship. Rushing into his presence and begging for peace of mind will never get results. We must bow before him in worship and let him search our hearts and minds. Next comes supplication, which means the earnest, sincere desire of the heart. True prayer comes from the heart, not the lips. What a joy it is to present our requests to him. Finally, there is appreciation or thanksgiving (see Ephesians 5:20 and Colossians 3:15-17). It takes faith to thank him for uncomfortable

circumstances or for requests not yet granted. How God loves to hear his children thank him.

Read Daniel 6:10 and you will see this is the way Daniel prayed. No wonder he had such peace in that lions den.

Second, right thinking (Philippians 4:8). Peace involves the mind (see Isaiah 26:3 and Romans 8:6). Thoughts are powerful; “as he thinketh, so he is” (Proverbs 23:7).

Wrong thoughts will lead to unrest and discouragement, but spiritual thinking will lead to peace. Paul tells us in this verse what to think about; if you compare these virtues to Psalm 19:7-9, you will see the Bible (the Word of God) meets all of these requirements. Meditation on the word of God will always bring peace (Psalm 119:165).

Third, right living (Philippians 4:9). If there is something in my life I dare not pray about, then I will never have peace. Right living always brings peace (see Isaiah 32:17 and Isaiah 48:18, 22). It is not enough to use the Bible as a basis for praying and claiming its promises; we must also use it as a basis for our living, obeying its precepts. Read carefully James 4:1-11 and notice wrong praying (James 4:3), wrong living (James 4:4), and wrong thinking (James 4:8) produce war instead of peace.

Remember, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

February happenings at Akron Public Library February is “Love Your Library Month” and they are celebrating at Akron Carnegie Public Library.

They will have a guessing game and are asking patrons to put a bookmark in their favorite book as a recommendation to the next reader.

While you’re at it, leave a note on why you love your library. You can do that in person or on their social media accounts. They’d like to know what they’re doing right and why you love the library.

Love is in the air in February and adults who are looking for something new to read have the opportunity to choose a book from the “Blind Date with a Book” display.

Did you have a pick up line that worked for you? Browse the books’ catchy phrases and find one that gives you all those warm feelings.

Will it be love at first page? Sure, it could turn out to be a dud or it could be the diamond in the rough you wouldn’t have even given a chance.

“Blizzard of Books” adult winter reading program continues. The weather might be chilly during these winter months, but ACPL has all sorts of “material” to keep you happy. Pick up your preferred reading material and be prepared for those cozy, luxurious, stayat-home days and earn multiple chances in the drawings. The program runs Jan. 10 through March 25. Every time you finish a book,

write the title on the printed form.

Once you have read three books, bring the form to the library and put it into one of the prize drawing boxes for a chance to win.

They have three great raffles from which to choose. Don’t forget to pick up another form, and keep reading. The more you read the more chances to win. Names will be drawn at the conclusion of the program in March. You must check out material from Akron Carnegie Public Library to participate.

Akron Carnegie Public Library will be hosting a Star Wars bingo for teens Friday, Feb. 4. Black light bingo begins at 6:30 p,m. Teens are encouraged to bring their light saber and wear their favorite Star Wars T-shirt. If you attended the TVHS basketball game Jan. 28 and showed us your library card, you received a bingo ball. In honor of National Chopstick

Day, the library is celebrating throughout the week of Feb. 7.

W.O.W. Club (Wacky On Wednesday) starts at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9. This is a free club with lots of wild and crazy fun activities for elementary kids in grades one to five, and lasts approximately one hour.

Laura Jones will present a “Chilling Thrillers” book talk for adult patrons at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. Jones is a librarian with the Indiana State Library and regional coordinator. This will be her second book talk at Akron Carnegie Public Library, and if you love thrillers and don’t know what to read next you won’t want to miss this winter and snowy thriller program. KDSS\ IHEUXDU\ Indiana voters overwhelmingly support Congress term limits Seventy-six percent of registered Indiana voters support term limits for Congress according to a poll conducted for U.S. Term Limits

by RMG Research. The poll of 500 registered Indiana voters was conducted Jan. 14-16.

The poll showed support for congressional term limits was broadbased among all demographics and party affiliations. Sixty-seven percent of respondents favor the Indiana legislature adopting legislation that would call for an amendmentproposing convention to adopt term limits under Article V of the United States Constitution. Sixty-nine percent of the respondents want their state legislator to support legislation that would set term limits.

Recently in Indiana, House Joint Resolution 2 was introduced in the State House that would have Indiana join other states in issuing a call for an amendment-proposing convention for congressional term limits under Article V. By using Article V of the U.S. Constitution, 34 state legislatures can team up for a convention to propose a congressional term limits amendment. The Term Limits Convention initiative is being spearheaded by the non-

partisan, grassroots nonprofit advocacy group U.S. Term Limits.

“Term limits for Congress is the one issue that unites all Americans,” said Nick Tomboulides, executive director of U.S. Term Limits.

“As this poll indicates, (Hoosiers) want to see action on this issue and see the legislature pass legislation for a constitutional convention for term limits.”

“In the era of entrenched, career Washington politicians who make a fortune off the backs of taxpayers, term limits for Congress is a must,” said Micah Beckwith, Indiana state chair for U.S. Term Limits.

“Supporting term limits will help return our republic to a purer and more idealistic citizen legislature, precisely what our founders envisioned to ensure liberty for generations to come.”

The poll also showed 66 percent of Indiana voters are more likely to vote for a state legislator who supports implementing congressional term limits. This also cut across party lines and showed despite intense political polarization, support for congressional term limits is the one issue all Hoosiers are united on.

‘Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives’ workshop Untreated or ignored stress and mental health issues in rural areas impact quality of life, economic development and lives of farmers, agriculture workforce and rural families. To raise awareness and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in the agriculture industry the Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives program was created by the Indiana Rural

Health Association.

Twenty-three free, one-day insightful workshops with subject matter experts will be conducted in 2022. The workshops will begin Feb. 10, in Mount Vernon. The series of workshops will continue in 22 other rural sites around Indiana through July.

Application period open for Youth Preparedness Council The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced youth leaders across the nation can now apply to become a part of the 2022 Youth Preparedness Council.

YPC members are students in grades eight through 11 who are selected to support disaster preparedness and make a difference in their communities. The YPC is an opportunity for young leaders to engage with FEMA and provide their perspectives, feedback, and opinions related to preparedness, to grow their leadership skills, and to support the resilience of their communities.

YPC members are chosen based on their passion for preparedness and helping others, their involvement in their community and their aptitude for working in a team and as a leader.

Students from Region 5 states who apply for the National Youth Preparedness Council will also be considered for a place on the Region 5 Youth Preparedness Council. The Region 5 YPC is an additional service and leadership opportunity for high school students living in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“Young people are the emergency

managers of tomorrow and the key to creating a more resilient nation in the face of a changing climate and increasing disaster risks,” said Moises Dugan, acting regional administrator, FEMA Region 5.

“Our rural communities are the backbone of our Indiana economy, and we can make them even stronger by supporting mental health and reducing stressors at home and in our communities,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, secretary of agriculture. “These workshops will give our farmers the resources to help their neighbors and their family members who may be struggling.”

The workshops aim to discuss the mental landscape in Indiana, highlight local resources, discuss telehealth options and contain information about the Purdue Farm Stress Program. The Indiana Rural Health Association will also present a training for the Question, Persuade and Refer program.

“We all know that farming is one of the most dangerous professions, and it is sadly also one of the most mentally taxing ones as well,” said Bruce Kettler, director of the Indiana State Department

of Agriculture. “Our department was honored to be awarded this grant from USDA and we believe using these funds in partnership with the Indiana Rural Health Association and Purdue Extension will greatly impact thousands of Hoosiers, and work to decrease the stigmas around mental health in agriculture.”

The free workshops through the Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives program are open to the farming community, including agribusinesses and related service industries, the faith community, local leaders and families.

Stigma and other issues that discourage people from seeking help can result in higher suicide attempts and other mental health issues. These issues often are higher – even double – than in urban areas. Depression, suicide and other mental health struggles often rise during the seasonal times of planting and harvesting when stress levels are also higher.

These workshops are part of a partnership with the Indiana Rural Health Association, Purdue Extension and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. ISDA received a $500,000 grant from the National Institute for Food and Agriculture’s Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network in October 2021.

NIPSCO offers safety and energy-saving tips Extreme cold temperatures may create safety hazards and also lead to increased energy usage and higher bills. With frigid weather expected, NIPSCO offers tips to prepare customers to stay safe and warm, as well as save on energy costs.

Stay Safe, Warm And Comfortable As temperatures drop to low levels, staying warm becomes a top priority. Customers implementing ways to ensure their home is comfortable are reminded to do so safely.

• Keep vents clear. Be sure to clear snow and ice from intake, exhaust and/or make-up air vents. Keeping those vents clear can help customers avoid carbon monoxide buildup and operational issues with appliances.

• Space heaters should be used with caution. When using, place the space heater on a hard, non-flammable surface away from bedding, drapes, furniture and flammable products.

• Ensure appliances are installed in accordance with local building codes and manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.

• Never use a stove or oven as a source of home heating; ovens are designed to heat food and should only be operated with the door closed.

• Don’t burn charcoal or run a generator indoors or in an enclosed space.

• Clean the chimney and check for blockage at least once a year before using the fireplace.

• Always keep the natural gas meter clear and visible so it is accessible for maintenance or in the event of an emergency; never let snow completely cover the meter and don’t use a shovel or hammer to hit the equipment to break up snow or ice buildup.

• If you smell gas or think there may be a gas leak, stop what you are doing, immediately leave the area, and then call 911 and NIPSCO’s emergency line at (800) 634-3524.

• If you experience a power outage, report it online at NIPSCO.com/out, text the word “Out” to 444111 or via NIPSCO’s mobile app.

• For electric emergencies, including a downed power line or any other electric-related situation, call NIPSCO’s Customer Call Center at (800) 464-7726.

• If there are concerns of a carbon monoxide build-up, or if you are experiencing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, go outside immediately and call 911. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, non-corrosive gas created when fuels (such as gasoline, wood, natural gas, pro-

The Summer Food Service Program reimburses local sponsors serving healthy free meals and snacks to children 18 years old and younger. Sponsorship is open to public and private nonprofit groups, including local governments, summer camps, religious organizations and recreation centers. Organizations may also consider partnering with an existing sponsor, such as a school corporation, to serve students in areas where children may lack good nutrition during the summer months.

In 2021, more than 280 Indiana sponsors served nearly 22 million meals during the summer months. In addition to providing free meal service in a local community, many sponsors also offer educational or physical activities for students.

Created in 1968, the Summer Food Service Program is funded and operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is administered by the states. Participating organizations must adhere to all USDA regulations.

The program is funded through a reimbursement based on the number of meals served to eligible participants. Any student age 18 or under is eligible to receive meals through the Summer Food Service Program by visiting a meal site.

The application deadline for new sponsors is April 15. IDOE will host multiple required webinars for new and returning sponsors.

Residents speak out against Manitou Crossing proposal %\ &5,6 $/'5,'*( 6WDII :ULWHU A unanimous vote of “no” from the Rochester Board of Zoning Appeals was made at the public board meeting held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Fulton County Fairgrounds regarding the multi-million dollar mixed-use development proposed for the city’s south end.

The 0-5 vote denied the request and was followed by a room full of applause as more than 50 people attended the meeting to voice their concerns. Only one person out of the large crowd stood in favor of the proposed development.

Several residents of Fulton County had a chance to stand up and voice their opinion in the matter. Many questioned the current overcrowding of the local schools and the lack of sufficient police/ sheriff force to cover the increased crime and drug activity many feel a development like Manitou Crossing would bring to the Fulton County area.

One speaker questioned Andis Dimants, the managing director and managing broker of Chicagobased RealtyMetrix, about the validity of the study they stated was performed by Indiana University, as it was lacking sufficient refer-

Some wondered why Rochester was selected for this project due to being one of the highest taxed counties in Indiana, and if a tax abatement for RealtyMetrix would also be included in the “deal.”

Others asked about the number of empty buildings throughout the city and county that could be utilized instead, and noted the lack of industry that has been an ongoing and increasing problem for years.

Several businesses in town are currently struggling with a lack of workforce which is a predominate problem statewide. Creating yet another massive build of low-income apartments and hotels would only fuel the need for more workers and encumber those who are already suffering from the lack of such.

One resident referred to Rochester as a “bed and breakfast” town as many people leave early in the morning to drive to another city/ town to work and back in the evening because the pay is not competitive enough in Rochester due to the lack of industry.

Time to enter photo contest

The annual Historic Preservation Month photo contest, sponsored by the DNR Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology, is underway.

The subject of entry photos must be in Indiana, be at least 50 years old, and be something that was designed/ built by people. It can be a building that’s been restored to perfection or one that needs some love. The idea is to show the value of historic preservation. Photos of exclusively natural elements are not eligible.

The complete rules and guidelines and the required entry form are at: on.IN.gov/preservation-month.

The photos should be JPEG files (less than 10MB). Each photo and the required entry form should be emailed to aborland@dnr.IN.gov as attachments. Photographers can submit up to three photos, but can submit only one photo and entry form per respective email.

Follow the DNR Instagram account (@Indianadnr) May 1-7, when the DHPA will be doing a takeover for a week and featuring selected photos and contest winners.

The contest deadline is Friday, April 1.
