When moving as a family, it is essential to pick a location that is affordable and offers quality schools and health care. WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 48 key metrics, such as the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and the opportunities for fun and recreation. Each metric fits under five key dimensions: family fun; health and safety; education and child care; affordability; and socio-economics.

Overland Park, Kan., headed the best places. It ranked No. 1 in affordability, No. 4 socio-economics; No. 7 in education and child care; No. 26 in health and safety; and No. 100 in family fun. Its overall score was 72.48.
