Revitalized ‘Young Adult Professionals’ group thriving in Warsaw
%\ .(,7+ .1(33 6WDII :ULWHU A lot of things have changed in the past three years for the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce’s Young Adult Professionals group. For starters, not only has the organization’s leadership changed since the pre-COVID days, but in fact, save for one person, the entire membership roster has been turned over. Lauren Klusman, the lone holdover from the group’s earlier iteration, is the director of marketing and communications for the chamber. Additionally, she serves as co-chair of YAP’s steering committee, alongside Josh Silveus. Eight other committee members, including Shawn Brown, Mitchell Hall, Brandon Stewart, Savannah Beer, Olivia Tucker, Scott Clay, Corbin Holtsberry and Kristen Hale share their talents and leadership to YAP. “The mission of Kosciusko Young Adult Professionals is to show young professionals under the age of 40 in our community what Kosciusko C o u n t y has to offer through networking, leadership and philanthropy,” said Klusman. Silveus added that YAP provides a variety of social networking opportunities for the area’s young professionals, including at monthly happy hours. “YAP gives people an easy way to
get involved with others in the community,” he said. “We get together once a month for a lunch and a dinner, as well as various after-hours events.” “We are a casual, not formal, networking group,” Klusman added. “There’s no charge to participate; just come and join us.” The group participates in several philanthropic activities throughout the year. Recently, they conducted a collection drive for Fellowship Missions in Warsaw. They were able to donate 175 pillows and 165 sets of bed sheets, which exceeded their goals for the event. Other YAP activities include adopting a local family at Christmas, providing dog walking services and being involved in Warsaw’s First Friday events. “We also organize ‘YAP Talks’ in which we invite leaders from the community to speak to the group,” added Klusman. “The group also has lunch Continued on page 3
