Welcome from the President The Goshen Chamber was founded in 1954. So in 2024, the Chamber is celebrating 70 years of servicing the Goshen Business Community. The goal then remains the goal now, and is simple; to strengthen and build an environment where businesses could grow and prosper. Today, those messages and directives are still true; the goal of the Goshen Chamber is to make Goshen a strong, vibrant, thriving place that individuals and businesses want to grow in.

No place better reflects this commitment than the Chamber’s mission statement, which reads, “To champion our community’s business future.” The organization goes on to identify four basic principles which guide its activities. You see it on our logo, but the Goshen Chamber aims at the ability to Connect, Develop, Inform, and Advocate for our Chamber Members and the business community.

First, the Chamber works at Connecting. Connecting members and businesses to each other, to the community, and globally.

Second, we Develop not only our members, but our community. Whether it is professional development, organizational development, or economic development, the Goshen Chamber strives to foster an environment where businesses can flourish.

Third, we Inform. The Goshen Chamber disseminates information on many different levels. General information, community information, business information, the list goes on. One of our goals is to be up to date with everything Goshen.

Finally, we Advocate. As the premier business organization in the Goshen area with almost 450 members who employ nearly 18,000 people, we are the voice of the business community. We work with Local, State, and Federal officials to ensure a business friendly environment.

The members listed in this directory have made significant investments to the community by being members of the Chamber. They have stated that they believe in the community and its future and that they want to work together to make Goshen better than it is today. It is through this type of commitment, and from so many others, that Goshen was awarded the 2017 Community of the Year from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. People and

Our mission is to Champion Our Community’s Business Future and this is a brief outline of exactly how we do that:

ADVOCACY: We represent almost 450 businesses and we are pleased to serve as the voice of the Goshen business community with elected officials of all levels of government from Goshen to Washington D.C. The Chamber President/CEO attends Goshen City Council, Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings and may present position papers and/or address issues coming before these bodies. The Chamber hosts Third House Sessions at their office each year while the Indiana General Assembly is in session.

Open to the public, these meetings bring area State Legislators together to discuss the issues behind the bills they are hearing in Indianapolis.

The Public Policy Committee hosts candidate forums during each election year as they feel strongly that the public must be informed about issues facing our community and where candidates stand on them.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: We distribute a printed Member directory to each Goshen zip code and include that piece on our website.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Having strong relationships with the City of Goshen as well as the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County, we work to ensure Goshen is ready for future opportunities.

BUSINESS ASSISTANCE: Through the partnership with the Indiana Small Business Development Center, one-on-one business counseling services are available at no cost for individuals who are planning a start-up business, looking to expand or those facing issues and seeking answers.

QUALITY OF PLACE: Because the Chamber spearheads the annual “Beautify Goshen Week”, we make certain our community provides a welcoming, caring, and vibrant community.

Women in Business We spotlight accomplishments of women and promote the positive influence they have in our area. Gather with your peers to enjoy a special keynote speaker and lunch. Topics vary but are always interactive and educational! $10 charge for lunch. This is a quarterly event.

Connect @ 4 Connect @ 4 is a great way to connect with your fellow Chamber Members. Venues change each time, so come explore a different local business and get acquainted with their associates while enjoying giveaways, refreshments and more.

Wake up, Goshen!

Join us with special topical discussions from key influencers in our community. Speaker and venue will change each time, but you will always enjoy delicious food and chatting with Chamber Members.

Goshen’s Emerging Leaders (GEL) Focused and driven young professionals (18-40) meet to establish business connections with peers living and working in Goshen. They have worked to create an inviting and diverse group who will make meaningful connections and foster ideas.

Beautify Goshen Week We promote community pride in the appearance of all properties as we work together to improve the place and quality of life in Goshen. Special projects like “Help-A-House” (sponsored by Lacasa) are coordinated and executed.

Annual Golf Outing Hit the links and get into the swing of things at our special event. Morning and afternoon flights are available for a foursome or individual. Enjoy fun in the sun, a great lunch, and a bit of exercise all while team building and networking.

Annual Meeting Gather with your team, enjoy a delicious lunch, hear from our current Chamber Board President and our incoming Chamber Board Chair.

We celebrate our Business Members Awards Presentations and volunteer of the year.

Holiday Open House Wrap up the year with our special celebration!

Enjoy appetizers and beverages from our Chamber Member restaurants, visit with the Board of Directors, Ambassador Committee and staff and meet other Members at this informal open house activity.

Chamber Week We begin our celebration each year with a cook-out lunch for our entire Membership on Wednesday. Thursday, we offer a special program and wrap up Friday with Happy Hour!

Spare Time with the Chamber Strike up conversation, team building and networking at our annual bowling event. Bring a team of five or sign up as an individual and get to know some others in our area; either way, you will enjoy an afternoon of snacks, bowling, and fun.

Founders’ Day Open to all Chamber Members. A Chamber Member Luncheon where we focus on Goshen’s, Elkhart County’s, and Indiana’s growth of Business. Guest Speakers and panel discussion all held to look at the Business climate and beyond.

There are many ways that Chamber members support the work of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce. First, and most importantly, businesses make a decision to join the premier business organization in the community. The Chamber has a set investment schedule, one that has been developed over time and is designed to be a fair and equitable way of raising the funds necessary to meet the goals and objectives for these organizations.

Finally, many of our members made an additional commitment to their organization by becoming a Diamond, Platinum, or Gold Member. These members voluntarily increase their dues investment by 50%. The strength of this is that these dollars are not designated to a particular program but provide funds that allow the Chamber to better address the issues that have been identified by the membership and included in the annual work plan.

During the course of the year, many Chamber members have identified various Chamber programs that they would like to have their business associated with, and they become sponsors of these events. From the Annual Meeting to our Fall Golf Outing and Spare Time with the Chamber Bowling Outing or from the popular “Wake-Up, Goshen!” program to Founder’s Day, our members step to the table by providing additional funding through sponsorships so that these programs can be more beneficial to them and our members.

Thanks go out to all of our members. First, thanks for their financial commitment in being a member. Second, thanks to all the members who helped sponsor programs during the year. Finally, a deep appreciation for those who have taken that additional step by voluntarily stepping forward to become a Diamond, Platinum, or Gold Member.

NEIGHBORHOODS Alongside city-wide events like First Fridays, neighborhoods throughout Goshen also hold their own events and activities to build camaraderie and relationships within their communities. There are currently 15 neighborhood associations within the city, with more coming together. Goshen’s neighborhood associations often organize neighborhood-wide block parties, garage sales and participate in the Chamber of Commerce “Beautify Goshen Week” each May. Goshen’s location is also central to Chicago, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids and Detroit. The renovated four-lane connector, C.R. 17, runs directly from outside Goshen to U.S. 20 and the Indiana Toll Road and makes the drive from Goshen into Michigan a quick and easy one. U.S. 33 intersects the city, while another highway, U.S. 6, is just south of the city limits of Goshen.

Take a bike ride with your loved ones to savor everyone’s favorite summer treat, ice cream. Take a relaxed ride along one of the many bike paths through Goshen’s parks or along the Millrace Canal. Goshen has its own Maple City Greenway with over 20 miles of pedestrian/bike trails, including a trail to the city of Elkhart as well as the Pumpkinvine Bike Trail, which connects Goshen to Middlebury and Shipshewana.

Goshen has been designated as a bicycle-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists.

Along with more than 30 miles of trails within the city, Goshen boasts more than 500 acres of land overseen by the Goshen Parks and Recreation Department, including almost 35 square miles of classified forest. That means there is always an easy nature retreat nearby for walking, biking, running, or picnicking. If you require bike repairs, accessories or want to purchase a new bicycle, there is a cycling shop conveniently located near downtown.

Do not miss First Friday’s activities on the first Friday of each month in downtown Goshen.

The Goshen Chamber of Commerce, along with Goshen Community Schools, Fairfield Community Schools, Bethany Christian Schools, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, Clinton Christian School and Goshen College, lead the way to Champion our community’s business future.

The Goshen Chamber Board of Directors recognizes a direct link between educating our community’s young people and developing a workforce ready with 21st century skills for tomorrow’s jobs in Goshen. With the assistance of many Chamber members and their businesses throughout Goshen, the Chamber supports all schools in Goshen.

ACCREDITED PRESCHOOLS Give your child a step up in preparation for kindergarten with one of Goshen’s accredited preschools. The city of Goshen has two accredited preschools in three locations.

Unlike daycare centers, these preschools provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for children following guidelines and standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Both of Goshen’s accredited preschools have also achieved the highest rank possible in Indiana’s Paths to Quality childcare quality rating and improvement system.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS The city of Goshen has three primary schools located within the city limits. They include multiple award-winning schools providing students both quality school experiences and educational opportunities out of the classroom.

With a high school regularly highlighted by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best in the state, Goshen Community Schools provides students with the skills they require for college or a career following graduation. Boasting top extracurricular programs including award-winning music and impressive engineering programs, Goshen High School also offers a demanding large International Baccalaureate two-year program that earns students college credit while still in high school. Goshen Community Schools also works to incorporate interactive learning with a one-to-one laptop program and the high school and other classrooms’ technologies throughout the elementary and middle schools.

A fully accredited private Christian school option is Bethany Christian School, which provides students with service opportunities and space for spiritual growth alongside academic learning. Bethany’s innovative programs include its one-to-one computer and tablet programs and J-term program, which allows students to explore in-depth subjects during January. Following graduation, 90% of Bethany Christian’s students go to college or technical school.

St. John’s Catholic School provides elementary school programming for students looking to learn in a church school atmosphere. With a challenging curriculum, St. John’s (an extension of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish), has classes for preschool students through fifth grade. It also offers an afterschool program for students to complete homework, receive additional instructional assistance, socialize and play.

Fairfield Community Schools is in the southeastern portion of Elkhart County and is a district of roughly 2,000 students from Elementary through High School. The corporation is made up of a wide range of economic and ethnic backgrounds. Since it is in a rural setting, many families make their living farming. Community involvement is one of the school system’s valuable assets.

The foundation of Clinton Christian School’s philosophy lies in their vision and commitment to three pillars: Distinctly Christian, Decidedly Excellent, and Deeply Connected. Because its primary goal is to prepare students to follow Christ in all aspects of their lives, the faculty, staff, and curriculum are distinctly Christian, with both Bible memory and spiritual instruction occurring at every level. Additionally, Clinton Christian seeks to develop and strengthen their students’ ability to connect and serve within their community, excel academically, and thrive while participating in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Ivy Tech Community College North Central includes a campus in Goshen and in nearby Warsaw, Elkhart, and South Bend. Ivy Tech North Central grants degrees in more than 45 different programs, along with workplace and job skill training with convenient schedules for adult learners.

Indiana Tech offers a College of Professional Studies with degree programs in 18 different programs. This provides local students a nearby campus in Elkhart.

The Indiana University South Bend Elkhart Center provides students a nearby campus to begin coursework toward an Indiana University degree and a variety of additional services.

Goshen includes churches of dozens of different denominations including Catholic, LDS, Baptist, Episcopalian, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Mennonite, Brethren, Orthodox and non-denominational churches. Local churches include services in English, Spanish, Ukrainian and Russian.

Find your new favorite band at a concert in one of several local music venues. Goshen College hosts student and faculty performances, as well as internationally known performers. Local high school students perform in plays and awardwinning music groups’ shows. A cinema offers new mainstream films on its 14 theatre screens.

A highlight for plenty of locals each summer is the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, one of the largest county 4-H fairs in the nation. Enjoy popular bands and singers on the grandstand

stage, cheer for your favorites in the rodeo and demolition derby, see hundreds of farm animals, hold your own on the midway rides and do not miss the variety of fun fair foods.

On the first Friday of every month, restaurants, stores, entertainers and more come together for First Friday’s events in downtown Goshen.

Throughout the summer months, First Friday’s regularly feature a bicycle criterium, a run/walk, local bands, classic car cruise-in and volleyball tournament. During the winter, you can enjoy the Holiday Open House in downtown shops and the Christmas Tree Lighting at the large evergreen on the corner of Washington and Main streets.

Each fall, the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds hosts the multi-day Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale, which raises thousands of dollars for Mennonite Central Committee’s international relief efforts through the sale of quilts, ethnic cuisine and other arts, crafts, and activities.
