Wedding: Top Five Trends For Winter Weddings

TopFive TRENDS FORWinterWeddings

By Shelley Galbreath

Winter is here. While most people consider the spring or summer months to be a prime time for weddings, there is a new trend where brides and grooms are choosing winter weddings.

It is easy to understand the appeal. Aromas of cinnamon and pine and the flickering golden hues from candles and twinkling lights make winter an idyllic time to get married. Here are the five latest trends for winter weddings.

1. Lettherebelight.

Winter is the darkest season of the year, and since most of the wedding will be during the evening, lights are the perfect décor. From gorgeous hanging displays, candle arrangements and centerpieces, to the addition of ambient lighting, lights make for an epic transformation that provides a beautiful backdrop. Whether its hanging bulbs on tree branches or an arbor covered in twinkling lights, utilizing the ambient glow from lighting can truly make it a winter wonderland.

2. Natureinspiredelements.

Planning your wedding for the wintry weather season offers unique opportunities to bring nature into the mix. Winter-themed details inside the venue like a white and silver arch complete with flowers, lights, and snowflakes, glittering evergreen centerpieces on the tables to bold wintry colors in the décor make a winter wedding a winter wonderland. Another creative way to pay homage to nature is by including branches of pine needles and berries into the wedding bouquet.

3. Thinkwarm andcozy

Roaring fires, lantern-lit receptions, wholesome winter comfort food, and wedding fashions in bold colors and textures – there definitely is an appeal to a warm and cozy winter wedding. Outdoor fire pits with a smores station, blankets for the guests, even hats and gloves, if needed, are great ways to add in the coziness of the winter season.

4. Wearacape

In the world of winter wedding day fashion, capes are a definite new trend. Different textures and fabrics cover up the chill but also enhance the moment. Think lace, velvet, silk, and even faux fur, as well as bold colors like navy, reds, and the newest color trend – emerald.

5. Foodanddrinkstations

Food and drink stations have become one of the most popular contemporary trends for weddings. Offer a hot chocolate/coffee bar for guests and provide toppings like peppermint, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and whipped cream. Bailey’s, peppermint schnapps, and Kahlua are great add-ins for adults. Mulled cider is another popular option. Comfort foods are the epitome of winter, so why not serve them at your wedding? Warm cheese appetizers, soup shooters and creative food like a baked potato bar and an Hors d’oeuvre station provide guests with hearty snacks in bite-size servings.

Truly, a winter wedding is the perfect opportunity to be imaginative and bold, creating a winter wonderland that blends coziness and raw nature. What could be more beautiful? a
