The No Makeup Look
By Stacie Ball
Getting frustrated trying to create the perfect cat eye or that elusive smoky eye? Great news! As lifestyles are becoming more relaxed, and more people are working from home, women are relaxing their cosmetic routines, too. So toss those dark eyeshadows and eyeliners to the back of the makeup drawer, because the “No Makeup Look” is back in style.
Step 1: PREPARE YOUR SKIN
“Glowing, healthy skin is the start to creating the ‘No Makeup’ look,” said Tonya Andrews, Esthetician and Makeup Artist at 5 Elements. “Doing a skin care regimen day and night can make your skin healthy and hydrated, help calm irritated skin and balance oily skin types.” Makeup Artist at Southwest Hair Jade Jackson advised, “If you are a regular, full-on makeup wearer, first let go of all your habits. Start with step-by-step application to break the habit of a heavy makeup look.” Both artists mentioned that regular facials and dermaplaning are professional services that can help give your skin a healthy, hydrated look. Facials can help deep-clean skin, reduce pore size and more; while dermaplaning can remove vellus hairs or peach fuzz.
Step 2: FACE PRIMER, FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER
“Primer will create smooth skin and it also helps makeup stay put and last longer,” Andrews explained. Jackson stated, “Apply a natural-looking foundation like Mira Bella CC Cream and put a little concealer under the eyes and to cover blemishes.”
Step 3: CREATE A NATURAL BROW LOOK
“Mirabella’s Brow Shaper is perfect for the natural brow look,” Jackson recommended, “It defines each hair.”
“Shape brows and brush upward to get a lifted eye look,” Andrews instructed, “If you have full brows just use a clear brow gel. If you want to get a fuller look, use a brow gel that’s lightly tinted, making sure to comb the brows so they stay natural looking.”

Step 4: HIGHLIGHTER AND BLUSH
“Use a cream-based highlighter on the highest point of your cheeks to create a lifted, glowing look,” Andrews described. “To give the cheeks a natural look, apply a cream blush to the apple of the cheek and blend well towards the hairline.”
Step 5: LIPS AND EYES
“Use a lip gloss in a soft natural color,” said Andrews, “Add a little mascara to your lashes to make your eyes appear more open.” Jackson suggested using, “Luxe mascara with a little bronzer in the crease (of your eye) for definition.”
For this look, remember, a little goes a long way. Both artists recommended leaving out heavy foundation, lots of powder, eyeliner, bold lipstick, matte lip gloss. and fake eyelashes. Both of these phenomenal ladies presented a wealth of knowledge beyond what this article could hold. a
