Obituaries ANNA LOUISE TOPP

FRANCESVILLE, IN - Anna Louise Topp, 89, died Sunday, December 10, 2023. She was born November 2, 1934, in Medaryville, Indiana, to the late Jacob and Mabel (Logan) Vogt. Louise graduated from Francesville High School and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville. She enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends. She is survived by two sons: Duane (Karin) Topp and Dean “Chip” (Angie) Topp, three daughters: Darlene (Terry) Risner, Dolores (Keith) Schladenhauffen and Denise (Michael) Akers, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, five sisters: Betty (Cecil Williams) Wilmington, Irene Kopka, Carol (Clifford) Tonjes, Janet (Roger) Overmyer and Wanda Joyce and three brothers: Jacob “Junior” (Donna) Vogt, Donald Vogt and Ronald Vogt. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Trina Topp. Visitation will be from 11am-2pm EST on Wednesday, December 27, at the Apostolic Fellowship Center, with services beginning at 2pm EST, with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Burial will be in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeWise Academy at West Central. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.

PLYMOUTH, IN - Jody Lee Spicer, 40, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023. He was born January 19, 1983, in Plymouth, Indiana, to William E. Spicer Sr. and Sally (Williams) Spicer. Jody loved to go fishing and enjoyed working on lawn mowers. He is survived by his mother, Sally of Plymouth and siblings: Joy (Tim) McCarthy of Culver, Indiana, Stephanie (John) McCarthy of Florida, Crystal Spicer of Rochester, Indiana, Martha (Jessie) Spicer of Alabama, Eddie (Kelley) Spicer of Knox, Indiana and Kara (Dale Ritchie) Spicer of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father, William and one brother, Glenneth Binion Jr. Services were held Tuesday, December 19, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial was in the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox.

JENNIFER L. PETERSON

LUCERNE, IN - Jennifer L. Peterson, 55, died Thursday, December 14, 2023, at her home. She was born August 9, 1968, in Chesterton, Indiana, to the late Paul K. and Jill A. (Rietesel) Ashbaugh. On October 15, 2015, in Lawton, Indiana, she married Mark A. Peterson. He died November 29, 2022. Jennifer was a graduate of Chesterton High School in Chesterton High School and Ball State University. She was a social worker and had previously worked at Camelot Care Center in Logansport, Indiana and served on the board of the Cass County Youth Services Bureau. She was a member of the Lions Club in Lucerne. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, snowmobiling, boating and reading. She is survived by one step son, Matt Peterson of Monterey, Indiana. No services will be held. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac, Indiana.

KENNETH R. TRENT

SYRACUSE, IN - Kenneth R. Trent, 62, died Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 7, 1961, in Knox, Indiana, to the late Algin Trent and Goldie (Campbell) Cole. He had worked for Fairmont Homes for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading the newspaper and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth (Harlan) Fugate of Syracuse, Misty Maciejack of North Judson, Indiana and Briana Trent of Plymouth, Indiana, seven grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters and two who were like daughters to him: Autumn Maciejack and Kimberly Hurley. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald Trent and Thomas Cole. Services were held Saturday, December 16, at the O’Donnell Funeral Home. Any donations may be made to the O’Donnell Funeral Home on behalf of the family. Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.

RITA CAROLYN HOUSE

NORTH JUDSON, IN - FORMERLY OF LEXINGTON, OK - Rita Carolyn House, 75, died Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, Indiana. She was born November 26, 1948, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Charles and Martha (Rushing) Gregson. On February 3, 1968, in Hobart, Indiana, she married Dennie House. Carol enjoyed making ceramic crafts, shopping, bird watching, especially Cardinals and all of her pets. She loved her family very much. She is survived by two daughters: Yvonne Rodgers and Kimberly Brooks, four grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Charles Gregson, Jr., one sister, Serretha (Lawrence) Gruszka, one step brother, Raymond Jones and one step sister, Kathy Sommers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennie and step father, James Jones. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

CLARA LOUISE SMITH

GILBERT, AZ - FORMERLY OF BUFFALO, IN - Clara Louise Smith, 94, died Friday, November 17, 2023 in Gilbert, Arizona. She was born August 29, 1929, in Buffalo, Indiana. On June 24, 1951, in Francesville, Indiana, she married Richard Devon Smith. He died in 2008. She was a 1947 graduate of Monticello High School and she and her husband owned a restaurant/lounge and Rathsketter and later a 20 unit motel. They retired in 1976. She is survived by two sons: Mikel J. Smith and Steven D. Smith, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Alberta Miller. Private burial was in the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. Local arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac, Indiana.

DELOS STALBAUM

SAN PIERRE, IN - Delos Stalbaum, 85, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at his home. He was born June 18, 1938, to the late Vincent and Elsa Faye (Fleming) Stalbaum. On January 26, 1957, in San Pierre, Indiana, he married Alice E. Eckert. She died January 6, 2022. Delos was a 1957 graduate of Teft High School. In his younger years he worked with his dad at the Vincent Stalbaum Logging & SawMill Company and then in 1962, as a delivery driver and then a tractor driver for UPS, retiring in 1993. Upon his retirement, he worked farming with the John Lukac Farms, which he loved and worked for another nearly 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attended many sporting events of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by three children: Ed (Deb) Stalbaum, Patti (Ted) Sinn and Will (Kristie) Stalbaum, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and one brother, Howard (Shorty) Stalbaum. He is preceded in death by siblings: Vincent Jr., Norman, Nora, Max and Nancy. Services were held Tuesday, December 19, at the O’Donnell Funeral Home. Burial was in the San Pierre Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Dementia Society of America or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made by O’Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. in North Judson.
