2026 Parade of Homes Plus Remodelers Showcase

Chairperson

Welcome

I would like to welcome you to the 2026 Parade of Homes Plus, presented by the Builders Association of Elkhart County. Special thanks to our Premier Sponsor, MidCity Supply, as well as our Gold Sponsors: Big C Lumber, Kendall Lighting Center, and Hoosier House Furnishings.

As Chairperson of the 2026 Parade of Homes Plus, I am excited to present 8 featured homes — with unique styles, design, craftsmanship and the newest trends in the industry. You can also visit one home under construction and an innovative tiny home, built by Concord High School Building Trades! As a past homeowner in the Parade, I can attest to how helpful it was to tour homes with so many of the latest design elements at the time — including flooring, lighting, windows, doors, landscaping, kitchen and bath designs, unique spaces, and so much more!

I would like to recognize Miller Brothers Builders as our 2026 Legacy Builder of the Year. They are celebrating more than six decades of excellence by providing quality homes in Elkhart County and the surrounding region. They have three homes in the Parade this year — each with a unique design!

Special thanks also go to Niki Groves, BAEC Executive Officer and her office manager, Jennifer Meier, and to all the Parade of Homes committee members and those working on all the new homes this year. We couldn’t provide such a great community event without each and every one of you!

We appreciate you joining us at the 2026 Parade of Homes. I hope you find designs that inspire you to build the home of your dreams or ideas to remodel your existing home! Visit baec.com for details and directions to each home.

President’s Message

On behalf of the Builder’s Association of Elkhart County (BAEC) and its members, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 59th Annual Parade of Homes Plus and Remodeling Showcase. For nearly six decades, this event has been a proud tradition in our community — bringing together families, neighbors, and industry professionals to celebrate the very best of home building, design, and innovation. Whether you are here for inspiration ideas or simply to enjoy the experience, we are so glad you are part of it.

Events like the Parade of Homes don’t happen without the dedication of many people working behind the scenes. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to this year’s Parade Chair, Brian Levan of Levan Media and Marketing, along with the entire Parade of Homes Committee, for their time and leadership and commitment. We are so incredibly grateful to Mid-City Supply for serving as the Premier Sponsor — your continued support helps make this event possible year after year, We are also grateful for the support of our Gold Sponsors — Big C Lumber, Kendall Lighting Center and Hoosier House Furnishings - whose contributions help make this showcase even more special.

We are especially thankful for the talented builders participating in this year’s showcase, as well as the associate members and suppliers who contribute their products and expertise. A sincere thank you goes out to our BAEC team, including Executive Officer Niki Groves and Office Manager Jennifer Meier, whose hard work and dedication help bring everything together seamlessly each year. It truly takes a team effort, and we are fortunate to have such a strong one.

This year we are honored to recognize Miller Brother Builders as our Legacy Builder. For over 60 years they have been building quality custom homes throughout Elkhart County and the surrounding areas blending old-world craftsmanship with modern design and technology. We thank them for the years of membership and congratulate them on a well-deserved recognition. As you tour this year’s homes we hope you feel inspired by creativity, care and pride that each builder brings to their work.

Enjoy the parade — we are glad you’re here!

In Elkhart County, we believe in hard work, craftsmanship, and taking pride in building something that lasts. Build Your Future brings those values to life by helping students see that their future doesn’t have to be far away — it can start right here in our own community.

As a committee made up of passionate local professionals, we are committed to openingdoors, sharing our experiences, and showing students that there is dignity, opportunity, and purpose in the skilled trades.

Many students don’t realize the possibilities that exist just beyond their classroom walls. Through mock interviews, career fairs, and hands-on experiences, we give them a glimpse into real careers and real people who were once in their shoes. We’re not just talking about jobs — we’re talking about confidence, direction, and the moment a student realizes, “I could do this.” Those moments matter, and they have the power to change the trajectory of a life.

We are elated to once again highlight our area high school students who are involved in building and trades programs across Elkhart County. Their dedication, skill, and pride in their work is a true reflection of what makes our community so special. We are especially grateful to the Builder’s Association of Elkhart County for providing a platform to showcase these incredible students and their accomplishments. We encourage our community to take the time to tour the home built by students in the building and trades program at Concord High School — a powerful example of what happens when education and realworld experience come together.

Our work is rooted in something bigger than workforce development. It’s about strengthening Elkhart County from the inside out — supporting local businesses, meeting critical workforce needs, and helping young people build meaningful lives close to home.

When students can see a future for themselves here, when they feel valued and capable, it creates a sense of pride that carries into everything they do.

At the end of the day, Build Your Future is about people. It’s about investing in the next generation, believing in their potential, and showing them that they have a place in building the communities we all call home.

Miller Brothers Builders Celebrates More Than Six Decades of Excellence

Some companies are built on a product. The best ones are built on people. Miller Brothers Builders is proof of the latter.

Miller Brothers Builders traces its roots to the late 1950s, when Dave Miller first established the company. When the business was officially incorporated in 1961, brothers Amos and Elmer joined Dave, and Miller Brothers Builders was born. Serving Elkhart County and the surrounding region, the three brothers worked side by side for decades before Amos purchased his brothers’ interests in the 1980s, continuing to shape a company that would become a cornerstone of quality construction in northern Indiana and southern Michigan.

During the 1980’s through 2009, Miller Brothers became widely recognized for building modular homes a distinction that left a lasting impression on the community. “A lot of people remember that, especially that we set up a modular house for many years at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds during the fair for them to walk through,” said Brad Plett, president of Miller Brothers Builders.

Plett, who is married to Amos’ daughter, Lisa, relocated from Manitoba, Canada to the Goshen area in 1994. When Amos passed away in September 1996, the company faced an uncertain future. Just a month before his death, Amos had a potential buyer for the business. After Amos passed, the prospective buyer withdrew, and the family made the decision to press

forward. Fortunately, Amos had long been active in Mennonite Disaster Service and had surrounded himself with capable, dedicated people a foundation that allowed Miller Brothers to move forward with confidence.

In 2010, the company closed the chapter on modular home construction and returned fully to its roots: custom-built homes. That decision proved transformative. Today, Miller Brothers Builders has earned a strong reputation for luxury custom construction, with a portfolio that includes stunning lake homes across southern Michigan and beyond.

The company’s commitment to quality extends to every detail of the process. One of the hallmarks that sets Miller Brothers apart is its practice of fully specing a custom home before ground is broken. Paint colors, cabinet finishes, flooring selections, and even drawer pull styles are all determined in advance. “It helps with pricing and makes the construction process easier on both the contractor and the homeowner,” Plett explained. The goal is to make building a custom home not just manageable, but genuinely enjoyable a stress-free experience that customers look back on with pride.

Recognizing a need for attainable housing alongside its luxury offerings, Miller Brothers launched an internal division called Journey Homes by MBB. Focused on starter and affordable homes, Journey Homes has quickly grown into a significant part of the company’s work. Current projects include 52 home

sites in the Eastfield subdivision in Milford and 132 home sites in the Falcons Lair subdivision in New Paris, with additional developments underway in Elkhart and Warsaw.

Stability is at the heart of everything Miller Brothers does and that stability shows in its people. It is not uncommon to find employees who have been with the company for 20 to 30 years, with many trade partners logging 40 years or more. “I think we have that track record of stability,” Plett said. “We’ve been here a long time, and we plan to be here a long time.”

To stay current with evolving building techniques and customer preferences, Plett participates in the National Association of Home Builders’ Builder 20 program, meeting twice a year with 17 fellow builders from across the country to exchange insights and best practices.

Giving back has always been woven into the fabric of Miller Brothers Builders. Amos modeled that spirit through his work with Mennonite Disaster Service. Today, the company carries that tradition forward through its partnership with Jamaica Relief Ministries. The relationship with Jamaica is deeply personal it was through the adoption process that Brad and Lisa brought their son home from Jamaica in 2015. The company’s formal partnership with JRM began in 2018, and since then, teams of Miller Brothers employees have traveled to the island each January to build and remodel homes for families in need. Each home typically 16 by 24 feet is built in a week. “It’s great for our employees. It builds morale,” Plett said.

As Miller Brothers Builders looks ahead, a new chapter is taking shape. Titus Troyer, a general manager, who has been with the company for roughly 30 years, and his son, Remington, have signed paperwork to begin the transfer of ownership a transition the current leadership views with great optimism. The mission, the craftsmanship, and the culture that have defined Miller Brothers Builders for more than 65 years will endure.
