CARLDENNIS HUNT
STAR CITY, IN - FORMERLYOF GARY, IN - Carl Dennis Hunt, 67, died suddenly Friday, April 21, 2023, at his home. He was born November 18, 1955, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, to the late V.R. and Lucille (Yates)Hunt. On May 25, 1990, at Cedar Lake, Indiana, he married Margaret “Margie” (Pivovarnik) Koslow.

Dennis was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Chicago, Illinois. He was retired from Acme Steel in Chicago and Van Guard in Monon, Indiana and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1657. Dennis was a member of ABATE in Lake County and Pulaski County. He enjoyed riding his Harley, watching football and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved the outdoors especially cutting grass, drinking beer and grilling out. His tropical fish were an important part of his life and he was very loyal to his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Margie, four daughters: Cynthia Dulin of Kokomo, Indiana, Patricia (Scott) Volom of Portage, Indiana, Tina Shofroth of Monticello, Indiana and Rebecca (Steve)
Adcock of Rensselaer, Indiana, two sons: Adam Hunt of Berthoud, Colorado and James Hunt of Star City, seventeen grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren and one brother, Danny (Elaine)Hunt of Chicago. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Hunt and one sister, Elizabeth Anderson. Private burial will be held at New Providence Cemetery in Tellico Plains, Tennessee.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac, Indiana.
LINDAKAY WILSON
WINAMAC, IN - Linda Kay Wilson, 70, died Thursday, April 20, 2023. She was born December 22, 1952, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to Robert Henry and Marolyn Elaine (Christian) Keiper. On September 16, 1972, in Winamac, she married William Wesley Wilson.
Linda was a 1970 graduate of Winamac High School. She graduated from Knox Beauty College and owned and operated Heads Up Beauty Salon for a few years. She worked at Sander’s for many years and retired as manager. She enjoyed walking along Mill Creek and the great outdoors, day trips throughout Indiana and Southwest Michigan, dining at good Italian restaurants, relaxing and watching old reruns on TV. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by her husband, William and one sister, Laura (Tim) Callahan of Winamac.
No services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
DONALD E. HEIMS
WINAMAC, IN - Donald E. Heims, 81, died at 12:20 am, Friday, April 21, 2023, in Winamac, Indiana. He was born November 23, 1941, in Winamac, to the late Merlyn and Blanche (Clark)Heims.
Don graduated from Winamac High School and had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Winamac. he was an avid bowler and had bowled a perfect 300 game. He was a Golden Glove boxer, while participating on the Army boxing team. Don had also played league softball in Winamac for several years. He enjoyed cutting firewood, floating the river and gardening. He had worked as a laborer at the Braun Corporation in Winamac and was a supervisor at Plymouth Tube in Winamac for many years.
He is survived by three sons:Jeff (Rhonda) Heims of Winamac, DeWayne Heims and Daniel Heims of Lafayette, Indiana, one daughter, Dawn (Glenn) Bailey of Winamac, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one brother, Larry T. Heims. He was preceded in death by his wives: Miriam M. Lloyd, Mary A. Heims and Patty L. Heims, one grandson, Cody Heims and three brothers: Ernest R., Kenneth and Richard L. Heims.
Services were held Monday, April 24, at Frain Mortuary. Burial was in the Mt. Zion-Franklin Township Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Guidance Nursery School in Winamac.

HAROLD L. SMALL
KNOX, IN - Harold L. “Skeeter” Small, 87, died Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was born September 25, 1935, to the late Ernest D. and Zepha A. (Hardesty) Small. On June 24, 1956, he married BonnieCrabill.

Skeeter was a 1955 graduate of Knox High School and graduated from the International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1957. He had worked as a salesperson form Watkins Products before he and Bonnie became the owners of Ernie’s Fireside Inn after the passing of his father, Ernie. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox. Skeeter loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, Douglas (Karen), two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation and the funeral will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 29, with visitation from 10am-1pm, the funeral and burial thereafter. In lieu of flowers, please do as Skeeter would-take someone out for a beer or a bite to eat, tell a good joke, send flowers to someone in need of a smile or just give someone a hug.

RICHARD D. WARD
DANVILLE, IN - FORMERLYOF WINAMAC, IN - Richard D. Ward, 95, died Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Woodland Terrace in Danville, Indiana. He was born August 30, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Cecil L. and Emma E. (Rhode) Ward. On January 29, 1955, in LaPorte, Indiana, he married Arlene P. Peters. Richard was a 1946 graduate of North Judson High School and had served in the US Navy during WWII, aboard the USS Sicily. He attended the University of Chicago. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winamac and had been a mechanic and farmer his whole life. In 1984, he retired from US Steel but continued running the family farm until he moved last year. He loved his family very much.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, one son, David K. (Sherilyn) Ward of Cissna Park, Illinois, one daughter, Debra L. (Brent) Hornaday of Danville, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Leonard and one sister, Hazel.
Visitation from 3-7pm EDTon
Wednesday, April 26 at Frain Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held at 11am
EDT, Thursday, April 27, with Lay Leader Barbara Kleinofen officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

To the Starke County EMS for transporting Harry to Northwest Hospital at Knox for emergency care after him falling at home. Thank you to Dr. Moon and staff for their prompt and efficient care of his broken hip. Thank you to Tri County ambulance for transporting him to LaPorte Hospital for immediate surgery. Thank you to all the doctors at LaPorte Hospital (especially Dr. Fielder and Dr. Wu), all the hospital staff in ICU and medical floor. Their compassionate care for Harry and the comfort shown to the family will not be forgotten. To Pastor Speckhard and Pastor Wickert for hospital visits. To Pastor Speckhard for the heartwarming service, Bryan Ness, organist, for the uplifting hymns and to Jenny at Main Street Floral for the beautiful flowers. To those who honored Harry by being pallbearers and the North Judson Fire Department for leading the funeral procession. To the Ladies Aide for serving the delicious meal afterwards. To everyone for prayers, cards, shared memories, flowers, attending the service, donated memorials to St. Peter Lutheran School in his memory. Lastly, thank you to Doug O’Donnell and staff of O’Donnell Funeral Home, for their kindness and comfort during Harry’s passing.
