MICHAELLYNN DIXON

PLYMOUTH, IN - Michael Lynn “Mike”

Dixon, 74, died Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born August 13, 1948, in Star City, Indiana, to the late Forrest “Forty” and Amelia (Kruzick) Dixon. In 1972, he married Sandra A. Howard. She died in 2005.

Mike was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Norfolk Southern, where he had worked as a welder. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards and golfing. He is survived by his companion of 16 years, Susan Taylor, three sons: Gregory Dixon, Brian Dixon and Adam Dixon, seven grandchildren and one brother, Thomas Dixon.

Private burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Local arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

DENNIS GARLAND

SYRACUSE, IN - Dennis Garland, 70, died unexpectedly,Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his home. He was born November 28, 1952, in Knox, Indiana, to the late Victor and Blanche (Beecham) Garland. On April 28, 1989, he married Tina Kemery.

Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Knox High School, where he was inducted in the school’s Hall of Fame for basketball. He attended Indiana State University before being drafted to the US Army Reserve, where he served stateside for several years. He was an Iron Worker and a member of Union Local 292. He worked most of his career for Don R. Fruchey out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dennis enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, working in the garden and loved his family very much. He was a lifelong IU basketball and Notre Dame football fan.

He is survived by his wife, Tina, five children: Cole (Brittany) Garland of LeoCedarville, Indiana, Shelly (Alex) Truty of Macy, Indiana, Heather Williams of Warsaw, Indiana, Michael (Amy) Garland of Leiters Ford, Indiana and Dennis (Stacy) Garland Jr. of Gulf Port, Mississippi, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren and four siblings: Donna (Richard) Beauchamp, Peg (Arnold) Risner, Sandra (Bruce) Bennett and Steven Garland. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Butch and David Garland.

Friends may gather from 2-6pm on Thursday, April 13, with a celebration of life services starting at 6pm. Memorials may be made to C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation.

Arrangements were made by Titus Funeral Home, Syracuse.
