THE JFK ASSASSINATION DISSECTED

By Dawna Kaufmann November 22nd marks 62 years since America changed in a way that still profoundly affects many of us. Some believe it was the end of our generation’s innocence, the end of Camelot. Its aftermath has left what is widely considered the World’s Greatest Unsolved Mystery. On that day in 1963, our 35th U.S. president John F. Kennedy was shot to death as he rode in a motorcade through Dallas, Texas. The 46-year-

as a congressman, then U.S. senator, before being chosen as Kennedy’s number two. Johnson and his wife, Claudia “Lady Bird,” were also in the motorcade, in a car behind the one carrying the Kennedys. There were 23 cars in the motorcade and 15 motorcycles, with two police cars leading the parade. The president’s limousine was a 1961 blue convertible Lincoln Continental which had been flown to the site on a military transport. A nonbulletproof roof panel had been re-

Driving the car was U.S. Secret Service agent William Greer, whose supervisor Roy Kellerman was in the front passenger seat. Texas Governor John Connally, and his wife Nellie, were in the president’s limo, seated on folded-down jump seats, with Nellie behind Greer and John behind Kellerman. Behind the Connallys were the Kennedys, with Jackie on Nellie’s side and the
