LINCOLN’S TERRIFYING PROPHECY

“If America Falls, the Cause Must Spring Within Us!”
By Friedrich Gomez
Those most terrifying words of admonishment for America -- and the root cause behind them – are nearly 200 years olde, and yet they feel uncomfortably familiar, palpable, and even possibly prophetic for many concerned observers today.
Those most disturbing words come from our very own Abraham Lincoln whose vision was fixed beyond the horizon and on what dangers the
United States might face in the distant future.
It’s been 187 years since Honest Abe made his now-seemingly prophetic warning to a nation of people.
Scholars tell us that this key passage was part of an 1838 speech he delivered, as follows:
“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All
the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the Earth in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a Commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a 1,000 years! At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer: If it ever reach us, it must spring-up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves, be its author and finisher. As a nation of
free men, we must live through all time . . . or die by suicide.”
Lincoln was still in his 20s when he spoke those terrifying words of admonishment to disbelieving and uncomprehending ears.
At the time, his contemporaries just didn’t get it.
How could they?
After all, the young Republican ut-
Lincoln from page 1
tered those strange words more than two decades before he even became our 16th U.S. President.
And a quarter of a century before the American Civil War even started.
So, indeed, many of his contemporaries wondered amongst themselves, “What does all this rubbish mean, anyway: the danger to America’s existence lies within us?”
WHAT ARE LINCOLN’S WORDS TELLING US TODAY?
Professor Michael Burlingame, who chairs the Abraham Lincoln Studies Program at the University of Illinois at Springfield, puts a contemporary spin on things:
“Lincoln was denouncing mob violence which would lead to social chaos, provoking the public to demand law and order . . . when there would be none.

“No law and order to stem the tide of open mob anarchy, insurrection, all of which would rule tyrannically, and openly, within our streets and cities, and upper seats of government, all with virtual impunity.”
It would also mean the loss of fundamental rights, such as Freedom of Speech, loss of Self-Esteem as Americans, and dividing a nation with distrust and racial strife. It would be the death blow to democracy, our U.S. Constitution, and the U.S. government as we know it today.
HOW WOULD
WE ANSWER LINCOLN’S QUESTION TODAY?
How would we, in good conscience, answer Lincoln’s question today: “At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected?”
In other words, what would be the early danger signs that our great nation is destined for doom?
Could the recent, shocking, and unprecedented violent and deadly
A minister told his congregation, “Next week I plan on preaching about the sin of lying.” Meanwhile, to help unbderstand his sermon he asked his congregation to all study Mark 17.
The next week, before he started his sermon, he asked for a show of hands and then asked who in the congregation had studied Mark 17. Every hand went up.
The minister smiled and said, “Mark has only 16 chapters. I shall now begin my sermon on the sin of lying.”

siege within the hallowed halls of our nation’s capitol by insurrectionists on 6 January 2021 be a precursor to our eventual decay and demise as a lawful, unified nation whose democracy is central, sacred, and never to be defiled?
Or could the Great Emancipator’s words accurately fit the description of widespread vigilante mob violence fueled by distrust of authority and racial division such as when some U.S. cities were, ostensibly, held hostage -- weeks on end -- from the unjustified death of the African-American, George Floyd, at the hands of Minneapolis Police (an event which the U.S. legal system ruled unjustified and a breach of law and order within the public domain) and the threatened chants of “Abolish the Police”?
That pivotal event created a historic backlash, still hugely viable and influential today, in the formation of the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM), which has been evaluated as: “The largest single, movement in terms of participation in U.S. history.”

LINCOLN’S DANGER SIGN: “WHEN THE PUBLIC DEMANDS LAW & ORDER & THERE IS NONE.”
According to many concerned observers, this has already happened when newspapers across America declared in bold headlines:

of: “When the public demands law and order only to find there is none” would certainly seem to apply here, and all around these United States during those unstoppable, tumultuous months-on-end when violent protests reigned with virtual impunity.
To wit: violent protests and unchecked mob pillaging spread to over 40% of all counties in America, eventually spreading to over 2,000 cities and towns in all 50 U.S. states, including all five permanently-inhabited U.S. territories.
Some ‘live’ newscasts were difficult to watch.
One video shows, as described on newscasts: “An innocent man pulled and dragged from his truck and beaten by protesters.”
Regardless of one’s socio-political stance, the shocking images of the violent beating of the man goes on for a (full 20-plus minutes) without any sign of intervention to help the innocent victim whose only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Regardless of one’s bank of reasoning and ideology, in the eyes of most, such indiscriminate violence in looting and burning down stores, banks, innocent neighbourhoods, and businesses, was condemned (by a plurality of different races).
HAVE WE ALREADY REACHED THAT “POINT OF NO RETURN”?
Not long ago, on 13 August 2021, Eric Schnurer, highly esteemed writer and longtime official advisor to U.S. state and local governments, finally asked that most terrifying of questions:
“Has the U.S. already passed the point of no return?”
Schnurer draws a wicked line of comparison between the Fall of the Roman Empire and America:
“How did a wealthy, powerful, and successfully self-governing people – proud of their frontier origins, piety and traditional values and above all their ‘origin story’ in throwing off monarchical rule – essentially commit democratic suicide and settle, more-or-lesswillingly, for a half-millennium of dictatorship?”
Already the insidious trending has begun to slowly rid America from its underlying values, fundamental identity, dignity, and even the vulgar raping of any vestige of American self-worth.
WORDS “AMERICAN” & “AMERICA” NOW TAUGHT AS NEGATIVES IN OUR SCHOOLS.
Yes you read that correctly. Impossible, you say?
Never in a trial of a thousand years?
You may even be saying quietly to yourself: “If I haven’t read or heard of this on the news, then it can’t be true!”
And perhaps thinking: “A story this big and important would’ve been covered. So I don’t believe it!”
And yet, in this exclusive report to The Paper, this is exactly what is taking root – slowly and silently -within our very own trusted ‘seats of higher learning’ today.
Remember, the most effective and dangerous of social cancers are the ones that quietly sneak up on you, not the ones which come in through the front door like a loud, boisterous uncle.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE ERASES WORDS “AMERICAN” & “AMERICA” AS NEGATIVE.
One critical warning sign in our internecine battles is when our own country begins to teach that the very word which defines us: “American” -- is taught as offensive and, therefore, is eliminated from some schools, college campuses, and universities.
The sobering fact that you may be reading this for the very first time in The Paper, is proof of how this truly dangerous and insidious disease is festering – unnoticed, within our own nation.
For example, the University of New Hampshire has issued a “University Bias Free Language Guide,” which stated that the word “American” was definitely “problematic.”
Why?
Well, the university’s official “Bias-Free Language Guide” said that the word “American” is offensive because it does not recognise South America, Latin America, Central America, etc. and, therefore: “Assumes that the U.S. is the only country inside these continents.”
And this type of anti-American indoctrination is nothing new – it’s spreading and happening all around the nation at various colleges and universities too numerous to mention here.

From New Hampshire in the east, all the way across to Colorado on the west, this trend is surreptitiously growing (and largely unnoticed by the general U.S. populace).
Joining ranks with the University of New Hampshire on the east coast is the highly-prestigious Colorado State University located at Fort Collins in the western United States.
And although this is nothing new, most Americans are still unaware of this slow decay. And are shocked to even read about it here!
Yet, it’s been festering for years, under the radar, and unchecked.
For example, back on 27 July 2019, Colorado State Chancellor, Tony Frank, has established the school’s “Inclusive Language Guide,” which also states that the words “America” and “American” are among words deemed to be non-inclusive and, therefore, are wrong.
Colorado State University at Fort Collins is the prestigious and official flagship university of the Colorado State University System – and

About Town
I think I should be given a medal for enduring the sometimes bitterly cold and harsh California autumn/ winter weather. It wasn’t that long ago that I would go to bed and lay myself down on top of all bedclothes and have a vertical fan on all night ... generating cool breezes upon this magnificent body of mine. It didn’t take too much imagination to feel as though one was on a warm white, sandy beach with gentle, balmy breezes caressing one’s very own personal self. Seldom use my vertical fan anymore. I have prepared myself to meet and defeat nasty old Mr. Winter.
Those of us who grew up in the midwest . . . in god-forsaken places like Nebraska, Minnesota, Wiscon-
the campus is suggesting alternative titles to refer to an “American” so as not to offend anyone.
The college chancellor suggested in its “Inclusive Language Guide,” various alternatives to the word “American” such as: “U.S. citizen” or perhaps “person from the U.S.”
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker took issue with Colorado State University with an op-ed for the Washington Times: “Instead of spending so much time worrying about ways not to offend anyone (at the expense of America and our country), it would be nice if our colleges and universities actually worried about teaching our students,” Walker wrote.
Many of the most august scholars today believe that these are all indisputable warning signs of which Abraham Lincoln admonished us – and that America can only fall from within, when we ourselves expunge our own quintessential core values.
COULD “SHAMING AMERICANS” – AS CITED ABOVE EVER COME TO OUR CHILDREN’S PUBLIC SCHOOLS?
Many say that such an encroach-
sin and Iowa, can well remember things like snowdrifts, blizzards, slush and numb fingers and toes. People in California have no idea what golashes are. (“Aren’t those some type of pastry you have with coffee?”) No, Mr. Italics Manthose are kolaches. Golaches are a type of rubber boot you put over your shoes . . . usually with buckles on the side. You wear them to keep your feet dry and warm as you trudge through acres of slush (semi-melted snow which piles up and becomes a mess. (Snow: an abomination. White, cold, and miserable. There are some folks who think a fresh snowfall is romantic. Please. I’ve had all the romantic snow fall I can handle. That romantic snowfall soon turns to slush which is the ideal environment in which fire breathing dragons are born and multiply.)
I can remember when the kids were small we’d drive up to Palomar Mountain in the wintertime and let the kids see what snow was. We would sit and watch and laugh out loud as Californians attempted to drive in snow. Silly Californians! They would inevitably get stuck in a snow drift and than would hit the accelerator in a futile attempt to free their car from this abominable white stuff. (For $5 per car I would teach each driver that one must “rock” their car, forward, reverse, forward reverse, and gentle
ment of sowing division, shaming Americans, and thrusting unwarranted ‘collective guilt’ upon our small and innocent school children from kindergarten through Grades 12 would never even be considered.
And yet, in the view of many, Critical Race Theory poses this very danger.
While others disagree that it is necessary to keep America strong and honest.
Advocates on both sides, equally claim, that the deciding policy would either shore-up our misunderstandings as a nation, or be a final dagger to our bosom, as Lincoln phrased: “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves, be its author and finisher . . . . our own death by suicide.”
THE VERY LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN & THE FUTURE OF AMERICA ARE AT STAKE!
How do we decide on allowing, or not allowing, “Critical Race Theory” aka simply CRT, into our precious school system, whereupon our children’s young minds will be forever shaped and molded – either for better or for worse?
on the accelerator; that’s how you get out of a snow drift.)
Californians think they have it tough weatherwise. Bah! Humbug! Californians have simple things like earthquakes and wild fires . . . while they are admittedly an inconvenience they don’t compare to a blizzard. (A blizzard is a weather condition where heavy amounts of snow comes down upon the earth, accompanied by fierce winds that drive the accumlated snow on the ground into large miniature mountains. These mountains are referred to as “snow drifts.”) While all this is going on a bitterly cold wind persists in numbing your fingers, nose, and toes. These conditions caused the discovery of fire . . . . a phenomenon where wood, coal, or other combustible materials are ignited thus giving warmth to one’s soul . . . and body.
Like any rational human being(s) we fled the midwest back in 1968 and moved to California . . .the land of eternal sunshine with only occasonal rains, earthquakes, and wildfires . . . and a crazy government.
But still, challenges remain. Like when it’s cold at night and one must don mukluks, parka and buffalo robes to remain reasonably warm . . . all the while remembering what it used to be like in “the good old days” back in the midwest.
We are now at Lincoln’s crossroads, many concede, and America now sits on the very edge of a precipice with CRT, and with scholars like Eric Schnurer reiterating the pivotal query: “Is America nearing a ‘point of no return’ and facing its mirror image in the Fall of the Roman Empire?”
CRITICAL RACE THEORY NOW PROPOSED FOR K-12 SCHOOLS.
No other topic today is more incendiary than the ongoing pyrotechnical debate on whether to allow Critical Race Theory into our public schools or not. Cities across the U.S. are deciding their own fates.
Whatever Americans decide may, indeed, prove to be the ‘tipping point’ in our future.
It is a matter best left for the reader to ultimately decide on their own.
CRT can be a complex subject and certainly has deep dividing points. Even married couples are sharply and vehemently divided along ideological battle lines for what is

best for their children.
Even the clergy and the so-called social scientists and cognoscenti do not all stand on common agreement.
And yet, this is perhaps the most salient, most pervading, most critically important decision which all Americans must debate and decide.
It is of utmost priority, simply because it forges early-on, the mindset, the principles, the internal values –in our most vulnerable and formative years as children – which will be internalised as their moral and spiritual compass for a lifetime.
Even the face of liberal television, Bill Maher, is not quite sure of all the tenets of CRT.
On television, Maher cautiously stated his likes and dislikes in cherry-picking CRT:
“CRT. If that means, teaching history unvarnished, then yes, I’m for CRT.
“If it means acknowledging that racism persists today, I would say
‘yeah teach that.’
“If CRT means making kids in schools fixated on race, I’m NOT for that.
“If it’s about collective guilt – I didn’t do anything to your great, great grandfather – so I don’t want to be responsible for that.
“Or made to feel guilty over it.
“If it’s – in any way – a toxicity of just being born White -- or if it’s about dividing students into ‘oppressed’ and ‘oppressor’ in any way – then I’m NOT for that.”
Critical Race Theory is not a White vs. Black debate issue.
A plurality of races straddle both sides of the aisle.
Such as with Derrick Wilburn, a Black parent whose speech at a Colorado Springs School Board Meeting on Critical Race Theory went viral on the global internet on 23 August 2021.
Wilburn, father of three, stated in his opening speech:
“I am the direct descendent of the
North American slave trade. Both my parents are Black. All four of my grandparents are Black, all eight of my great grandparents, and all 16 of my great greats. On my mother’s side, my ancestors were enslaved in Alabama. On my father’s side, we were enslaved in Texas.
“I am NOT oppressed. I’m not oppressed and I’m not a victim.
“Although I have taught my children they are the victims of three things: Their own ignorance. Their own laziness. And their own poor decision making. “That is all.”
Wilburn, who lives in a neighbouring school district, said at the meeting that “putting Critical Race Theory into our classroom is taking our nation dangerously in the wrong direction.”
“I can think of nothing . . . nothing more damaging to a society, than to tell a baby born today, that she has grievances today against another baby born today – simply because of what their ancestors may have done two centuries ago.
“There is no point in doing that to our children.
“And putting CRT into our class-
rooms, in part, does that.”
Derrick concludes his speech with: “Racism in America would be by and large dead, if not for institutions such as the education system keeping it on ‘life support.’”
POWER OF “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” & “FREEDOM OF DEMOCRACY” IN VOTING PREVAILED.
Regardless if one agrees or disagrees with Derrick Wilburn, it is now a moot point in Colorado’s public school system and for its children.
Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Democracy prevailed with the school board reaching their final decision with a freely democratic vote.
It was Wilburn’s stirring speech that had a deeply profound and intellectual effect and proved to be the deciding point in convincing the Colorado Springs School District 49 School Board to officially ban Critical Race Theory from all its classrooms.

Pilfered luggage problem: Why won’t Iberia help me?
by Christopher Elliott
When items vanish from your luggage, can you trust your airline to make it right?
Bonnie Roeder-Burns thought she knew the answer when Iberia Airlines misplaced her suitcase and then someone pilfered items from it.
She did not.
Her bag sat abandoned in Madrid’s Terminal T4 for 12 days. She knew exactly where it was -- her Apple AirTag blinked back at her from the Spanish airport.
But when the bag finally arrived back home, it looked like someone had rifled through it. Over $1,000 worth of clothing and cosmetics had vanished.
Iberia Airlines offered her just $98 as compensation for the delayed luggage.
For the theft? Nothing.
“Their policy says they only pay if your bag is damaged,” she says. “That’s absurd.”

“They wanted photos of a broken zipper or torn fabric”
Roeder-Burns’s ordeal began when she flew from Barcelona to Chicago via Madrid. One of her bags never arrived.
Her AirTag showed it was stranded in Madrid. For eight days, she called Iberia’s lost luggage team daily, pleading with them to retrieve the suitcase from Terminal T4.
“I became the unofficial baggage tracker,” she says.
The bag finally arrived at her home in Minnesota with gaping holes in its contents. A turquoise Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, T3 hair styling tools, and Laura Mercier makeup were gone.
Iberia’s response?
This case raises critical questions for anyone who’s ever checked a bag.
• Can airlines refuse compensation for stolen items if your luggage isn’t damaged?
• What proof do you need to show your belongings were pilfered?
• How do you fight back when an airline refuses to compensate you for pilfered luggage?
So what happened to RoederBurns? Let’s have a look.
“We regret to inform you that you are not entitled to compensation,” it said.
Why? There was no visible damage to the suitcase.

This Disgusting Law Must Be Repealed Immediately

Fourteen months ago, I warned that Senate Bill 357, the law that decriminalized loitering with intent to engage in prostitution, would lead to exactly what we’re seeing today.
Now, girls as young as 11 years old are being trafficked along a 50-block stretch of Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, and law enforcement can’t stop it.
Thanks to State Senator Scott Wiener’s SB 357, signed by Gov-
ernor Gavin Newsom, police officers can no longer intervene when they see a group of young girls in lingerie being forced onto the streets. The law tied their hands — literally.
Before SB 357, officers could detain suspected traffickers and rescue minors. Now, they have to somehow prove a girl is underage before stepping in — nearly impossible with wigs, fake eyelashes, and fear of silencing these victims.
A trafficker summed it up best: “We run Figueroa now.”
Let that sink in. The predators are running the streets — not the police.
A New York Times investigation laid it bare: girls barely out of elementary school, shivering in G-strings, being forced to “make quota” for their traffickers. Many are foster kids lured in through Instagram. These children are being beaten, drugged, and sold while Sacramento politicians
look the other way.
SB 357 was sold as “reform.” In reality, it’s one of the most shameful and dangerous laws ever passed in California. It has created openair markets for child trafficking — just miles from schools, churches, and homes.
It’s time to repeal SB 357 immediately and restore law enforcement’s ability to protect these girls. No political talking point or “social justice” excuse can justify this level of moral failure. We should be protecting children, not their abusers.
I’m calling on every lawmaker, every parent, and every Californian with a conscience: demand the repeal of SB 357 now.
Because every day we wait, another child is sold.

Larry Cohen Appointed New Treasurer-Tax Collector

By Tracy DeFore, County of San Diego Communications Office
The County Board of Supervisors selected Lawrence (Larry) Cohen to fill the position of Treasurer-Tax Collector during a public hearing on Tuesday. The appointee will replace former Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister who retired on August 2nd.
Cohen currently serves as the Chief of Staff to Congressman Juan Vargas who sits on the House Financial Services Committee. For over five years, Cohen has acted as chief advisor in supporting Vargas’ work on the committee which oversees banks, pensions and federal securities legislation.
In the private sector, he worked for
Millipore Sigma where he managed a $30 million business line and was responsible for profit and loss performance, investment strategies and contract negotiations.
Cohen has a master’s in business administration from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. where he received training in finance and management skills and he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
The selection process began during a public hearing on September 30th. Each qualified applicant spoke before the Board and answered questions. Afterward, the Board selected four finalists from a pool of 11.
The Board also voted to hold an informal meet-and-greet on October 30th to give the public a chance to meet the candidates in person.
Tuesday’s second hearing gave the finalists another chance to address the Board before the Supervisors took a vote. The Supervisors made their selection on written ballots, and the votes were publicly displayed and read aloud. After four rounds of voting, the results showed Cohen with the most votes appointing him as the new Treasurer-Tax Collector.
The appointee will serve until the
current term ends on January 4, 2027. An election will determine a successor for the following fouryear term.
Cohen is tentatively scheduled to be sworn in at the November 18th Board of Supervisors meeting.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office collects more than $9.1 billion in property taxes every year. The office also collects the transient occupancy tax and the cannabis business tax from businesses in the County’s unincorporated area.
The treasury side of the office manages the County investment pool, which ranges in size from $10.2 –$18.8 billion in assets on an annual basis. The Treasury is also the paying agent for all 42 school districts in the region.

However, today in 2023, some high schools are already teaching lessons and units on CRT, where students write papers demonstrating their facility with applying the theory, while other schools are introducing CRT concepts, such as ‘systemic racism’ and ‘White privilege,’ and ‘implicit bias’ and so on.
LINCOLN WARNED WE MUST NEVER LOSE OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
If ever America is to truly fall from within (aside from the variables already discussed), one quintessential pillar that must never be toppled or erased, is our precious Freedom of Speech, our sacred First Amendment Right to the U.S. Constitution which vows: “Congress shall never prohibit the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech.”
Once that is gone, then so shall our nation.
Already this is happening. And much of our free speech is already dead.
So say the vast majority of Americans today.
Many believe that to insidiously circumvent the Law of the Land and defile the flower which is our freedom of speech, a new tool had to be fashioned, re-invented, and repainted, and its name shall be known as: Political Correctness (PC) or as some allege: “Radical PC Gone Wrong.”

On Tuesday, November 18th, the Vista City Council will have a special meeting to debate making Vista a Sanctuary City. I oppose Sanctuary City policy because it is dangerous and unlawful.
The last time the issue was brought before the Council, I organized hundreds of Vistans to speak out against it. Citizens showed up in force to say “no” to protecting
71% OF AMERICANS TODAY FEEL SILENCED & FEARFUL TO EXERCISE THEIR “FREEDOM OF SPEECH.”
A recent poll reveals that 71% of Americans today say political correctness has silenced discussions society needs to have.
The majority of those polled nationwide went so far as to say they are now afraid to freely voice their socio-political views, especially in the workplace for fear of losing their jobs, and livelihood, which is their sole means of securing the basic necessities of life such as putting food on their family table, paying their bills, raising and clothing their children and so on.
Most Americans now believe that PC has virtually crippled an entire race of people.
The Boston Globe printed: “Fear of speech is replacing Freedom of Speech.”
The Washington Post: “We’re staying silent out of fear.”
Psychology Today Magazine: “Why Americans Don’t Feel Free to Speak Their Minds.”
Slowly, the zeitgeist is – literally –nibbling away, eroding, undermining, and destroying a most crucial God-given privilege granted in the U.S. Constitution – an infringement once thought to be fundamentally impossible.
“U.S. ANTHEM & FLAG DISHONOURED” & THERE IS “NO PLACE FOR GOD.”
Today, the American flag is ridi-
culed as a symbol of hatred and some U.S. Olympic athletes (and entire teams) have openly turned their backs and covered their heads when their U.S. National Anthem was played or the U.S. Flag unfurled.
And now, America’s biblical God and all Christian symbols are vilified, statues spat upon, and desecrated from coast-to-coast and yet not widely reported.
There is, literally, nothing sacred anymore for this emerging America which would have cause for Lincoln, today, to cringe, then weep.
Demands to remove statues of a White Jesus are already on the radical agenda of mob anarchists today.
This is nothing new, yet it goes hugely unnoticed to the American people.
As far back as 15 July 2020, a new trend has grown more powerfully among destructive mob vigilantes against religious statues and even the Christian faith, itself.
The Washington Times printed the headline: “NO PLACE FOR GOD.”
In 2020, The Washington Times reported: “It would be quite a stretch to blame churches for George Floyd’s death, yet houses of worship and religious statues are coming under attack in the protest mayhem from the Black Lives Matter Movement.”
From east to west, many Catholic and other Christian-affiliated build-
ings, as well as murals, statues, etc. from Boston to Los Angeles are set on fire or vandalised in the name of political correctness and being offensive.
Again, most Americans are unaware.
One radical PC proponent openly stated on the internet: “Tear them down!”
And then called for the further destruction of the, “White holy family, especially Jesus!”
Nothing is mentioned that there are many Black churches across the United States which depict statues and paintings of a Black Jesus Christ, such as with the mural of a black saviour, Jesus, which dominates the foyer of the mammoth Ebenezer African American church in Maryland.
Images of a black Madonna and child are found around America and the world, including Africa.
Likewise, the Biblical Christ Jesus is portrayed as Asian, Oriental, and even clothed in wool-cloth Peruvian attire – all respective in the church, city or country which celebrates him.
One often loses perspective that we quibble over the “lost fact” that Jesus only appeared in human form (according to Scripture) for he chose to physically manifest and live among us.
If one accepts what is found in the

criminal illegal aliens. In a poll, 73% of over 800 Vistans opposed making Vista a Sanctuary City. I stood strong against the radical majority and laid out how dangerous Sanctuary policies are for Vista.
In voting for Sanctuary City status, the majority not only insulted our brave law enforcement officers— they endangered them by putting a target on their backs.
They will try to make their decision permanent on November 18th.
Their action to post signs that tell federal law enforcement that they are not welcome in Vista is reckless, irresponsible, and dangerous.
The reality is that working and middle-class communities, includ-
ing immigrants, welcome law enforcement agents in order to make streets safer and end gang crime. But radicals like the council majority continue to pander to a tiny group of extremists with initiatives that harm public safety. These are radical, designer moral values— created by individuals who experiment with woke ideas, like defunding the police.
But Corinna Contreras, Katie Melendez, and Dan O’Donnell continue to ignore the voices of the people. They put their extreme politics over the safety of our community.
Extremists may disagree with federal law, but that doesn’t give them the right to dismantle our public safety infrastructure.
In 2018, I led the Council to formally OPPOSE California’s Sanctuary State law. The radical majority wants to overturn our common-sense measure. But their decision has only strengthened my resolve: I will always fight for law and order, support our law enforcement officers, and uphold the rule of law.
I need you to help me fight back against the radicals’ proposal and ATTEND the special Council meeting. Speak up at Vista City Hall and have your voice heard on November 18th at 200 Civic Center Drive #100 at 5:30 PM. I look forward to seeing you in Vista!

Passengers are arriving too early for their flights. They should do this instead.
by Christopher Elliott
Have you started arriving at the airport gate early? Like, way early?
Mary Vogel has. For her upcoming flight from Chicago to Paris, she’ll get to the terminal more than three hours before her scheduled departure.
“I’m afraid there will be delays at the screening area,” says Vogel, a librarian from Glenview, Ill. “I don’t want to miss my flight.”
Vogel joins a growing group of air travelers who are showing up early -- and in some cases, far too early -- for their flight. There’s a name for these passengers: gate campers. A recent survey found that 95 percent of early birds were driven by fear. Philadelphia, Orlando and Atlanta had the most gate campers in the United States.
“It’s no surprise we’re seeing more travelers arrive early and camp out at their gates,” says Eric Napoli, chief legal officer at AirHelp. “There are many different factors: the holidays approaching and the government shutdown happening, plus strict and often confusing rules about carry-ons, people are anxious about potential delays or missed flights or simply are afraid there won’t be a place for their carry-on if they aren’t the first to board.”
But how do you know if you have gate camper tendencies? Is there a better way of ensuring you don’t miss your flight than showing up extra early? And what, if anything, should you do differently this holiday travel season when it comes to your flight?
are you a gate camper?
So how can you tell if you’re getting to the airport too early? Generally, you need to be at the airport at least two hours before your domestic flight and three hours before your international flight. Some airports have earlier recommended checkin times or earlier cut-off times for your luggage, which your airline should tell you about. And during the busy holiday travel season, you might want to add an hour, just to be safe.
If you arrive earlier than that, you’re a gate camper. And you’ll know that you’re pushing the limits if your airline counter is not yet open to check you in for your flight.
But there’s good news if you find yourself with a few hours to spare.

Sometimes, an airport is a destination unto itself. My favorite example is Singapore, which has one of the best malls in all of Asia, the Jewel Changi Airport, outside the gate area. It even has the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, called the Rain Vortex.
Another tip: If your family tells you that you’re getting to the airport too early, you probably are. (I speak from personal experience.)
Travel expert Phyllis Stoller says gate campers are an unfortunate by-product of fear, and they worsen the air travel experience for everyone.
“These folks take over extra seats with their luggage and stuff,” she says. They also hog all the power outlets and sometimes they literally camp out at the gate area, spreading out blankets and neck pillows, and having a messy picnic on the terminal floor.
But the most annoying behavior is something Stoller calls a seat kidnapper. That’s a passenger who claims three seats for themselves and then spreads out with their luggage or even tries to take a nap.
So now you know what not to do. But still, what if you’re worried about missing your flight -- a legitimate concern during the holidays?
Justin Crabbe, the CEO of a private jet service, says instead of worrying, travelers should sign up for
real-time updates on delays, gate changes, and other flight-related difficulties through the airline’s app.
What to do?
Check the crowds before you fly. Processing time information is available at several airports on the Customs and Border Protection site.
Fly during off-peak times. There are fewer passengers, so you won’t have to fight the crowds.
Don’t check luggage. That adds stress, and there’s an earlier cut-off time for checking your bags. If you can avoid checking a bag, you’ll save time and avoid becoming a gate camper.
And take a deep breath. If you follow the airline’s recommendations and you still miss your flight, here’s a little secret: It’s called the flat tire rule. If you tried to make it to the airport on time but couldn’t because of traffic or an accident, the airline will usually put you on the next available flight at no charge. Just remember to ask about the flat-tire rule.
But wait -- shouldn’t you arrive extra early if you’re flying during Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s?
Yes and no.
Yes, you should add an hour to your scheduled arrival time, just to
be safe. But no more.
And for heaven’s sake, don’t spread your belongings all over the waiting area, says etiquette expert Jodi RR Smith.
“Waiting at the gate is rarely the best option,” she says. “Instead, pre-punctual travelers should avail themselves of some of the airport’s amenities. There are restaurants and shopping. Often, there are spas and workout spaces. Occasionally, there are historical exhibits and selfie sites.”
Believe it or not, a visit to the airport is also a great opportunity to exercise.
“Once, while waiting for a flight, I was able to walk a full 5K by visiting every gate in every terminal,” Smith says.
Not bad.
Get there too early, and you risk becoming one of those pesky gate campers. Get there at the right time, and you’re practically guaranteed to make your flight.

The Pastor says . . . Thanks, ‘Getting’
The most common expression during the Thanksgiving season is “Thanksgiving.” It is probably the most appropriate saying, especially when it comes with all of the festivities. And yet, before we have, we need to get. Let’s begin with the ‘getting’ part first.
We begin life with getting. Our mother nurtures us. It is automatic with no requests except a cry. Then we get clothing and everything that makes us comfortable. Getting is followed by everything that family members think makes us happy. As we get older, we get the values of the adult world, such as an education, discipline, and even who our friends are. All of this is what we get because others feel it is essential for us. Getting even includes a belief system, such as religious instruction. There is little room for our own input, and little time for it. Getting will follow us through most of our lives. There will be those who want us to accept their views on politics, lifestyles, professional goals, possible marital choices, and even how we use their time.
All of this is not without some Biblical basis. Proverbs 22:6. says, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Again, “Children are to obey their parents.” This doesn’t leave much room for personal choice. In fact, it is almost entirely a ‘getting’ life. There is really nothing wrong with all this, except that taking it all for granted prevents the development of one’s own person. The Biblical call is for maturity, which is the growth of one’s own mind, body, and spirit. Some atrophy in their own person and never become who God created them to be. It is important what we get and why.
Being thankful for ‘getting’ is to realize that the avenue for life’s development, with respect to the freedom within one’s own being, has been nurtured by caring, loving, and even permissible adults who have been involved in one’s development. It is truly a call to thankfulness for ‘getting’. Without this level of thankfulness, there is little room for the wide berth of many other areas of thankfulness. Most reading this article have been recipients of ‘getting’ most of which has made it possible to live in a world of all we are and have.

Late in 2001 the IW (Intelligent Web) began to provide high speed linkage to the Internet’s information data bases. Americans born after 2000 AKA DNs (Digital Natives) grew up under the influence of the IW. They spend nearly half their waking hours connected to the IW on school, work or social activities. The IW has been a major factor in their early development and adult lifestyles. The IW’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a tool to access data bases for solutions and answers. If you were born before 1980 you are one of the “Last of the Dodos“ and AKA a DI (Digital Immigrant). You achieved adulthood prior to the 2001 introduction of the AI abetted IW. “Tweeners” are Americans born in the twenty year period between 1980 and 2000. They are a

Working or volunteering at an animal shelter or rescue can be one of the most rewarding things you could ever do. We never get tired of watching families leave with the pets they just adopted.
This morning at Rancho Coastal Humane Society, a Mommy and Daddy with their 4-yeard-old daughter were waiting in the lobby. I asked, “Is this a special day for your family?” Dad responded, “We’re getting our first cat!”
That little girl will remember this day for the rest of her life. Picking out her cat. Setting down the
complex transitional mix of DI and DN characteristics and not considered in this column.
Much of the adult behavioral difference between DIs and DNs is undetermined at this date. The oldest DNs have only begun to enter the adult world in recent years. The DNs unquestioning dependence on IW/AI information and solutions allow them to process technology based actions quickly and with minimal mental energy expenditures. DIs tend to regard the IW as an information source needing secondary verification, a time and energy consuming effort. While neither decision making process is completely bulletproof, ever improving AI functionality favor the IW to become the more efficient and reliable information source.
Trusting internal cognizance for problem solving is a 300,000 year old habit. To put our fate in the hands of another person or a mechanical device and trust it to make important decisions runs counter to our survivals instincts. When in doubt we follow the primal urge to rely on our internal resources. Ever take a cab or a bus? How about a train, plane, cruise ship or a medical procedure? It seems that we are sometimes willing to relinquish control to another person or thing without even a second thought. Our self-preservation instinct rides comfortably in the back seat while we allow others to make decisions for us. Much of modern life is a series of external routines we
understand and trust. We accept without question the “common knowledge” passed to us from our predecessors.
The 21st century brought the IW and instant access to virtually the entire knowledge base of mankind along with AI to process it. Young American DNs growing up with these new assets adopted them as a component of their internal resources. In general we DIs have been a harder sell. While many DIs, particularly those of us still in the workforce, have more fully integrated the assets of the IW, the majority of older DIs regard the IW as one among many external information sources.
For first generation of American DNs (30 and younger) who grew up with it, the IW is an integral part of work and social life. They understand the assets of the I/W and
know how to use them. The DI generations were adults when the IW was born in 2001 while some DIs, particularly those in the work force, have kept up as the IW broadened its reach and improved its AI, many of us have not. Much of today’s IW is “Terra Incognita” to most DIs. Yet the IW is an unbelievable resource for those who take the time to explore it. News, music, politics, quilting, archery, ice fishing, religion, dating, cooking, cats, antiques, whatever, the subject is there, in depth. No matter how esoteric the subject, it’s on the IW and so are people who care about it. Those DIs who take the time to learn to use the IW, often find new friends.
We DIs may be “The last of the Dodos” but that doesn’t mean we have to go quietly. Stay up and connected with whatever interests you. Don’t let yourself become a “rocking chair potato”.
first bowl of food. The cat exploring her new home then bursting into “zoomies.”
Shelter workers and volunteers need to remember these moments. Commit them to memory, because there are times when we really need them.

A 2023 study “Compassion Under Pressure: A Study of U.S. Animal Shelter Staff WellBeing” found that more than 90% of shelter workers reported high levels of secondary traumatic stress and 53.5% reported high burnout. Even with that, almost half of the people in this study still claimed, “high compassion satisfaction.”
It said that people don’t leave animal welfare because they stop caring. They leave because they care too much.
Shelter work includes days that start early and end late. Some days involve giving the news that people don’t want to hear. There’s heartbreak and, sometimes, criticism from the people who should understand most.
The public doesn’t see behind closed doors. There’s no glamour in the middle of the night while you’re sitting with a pet (a pet that isn’t even YOUR pet) so it doesn’t
have to be alone and afraid.
On LinkedIn, Meredith McLean says, “It’s easy to judge from the outside or even from within the same industry. But the truth is, most of us are doing the best we can with the resources we have, trying every day to hold compassion and reality in the same hands.”
Rancho Coastal Humane Society Medical Director Kathy Zerkle says, “If you work here long enough, you’ll see us all cry.” Fortunately, some of them are happy tears.
McLean concludes, “Be kind to the people doing the work. We’re carrying the weight of something broken and still finding the strength to keep building a better system.”

Christian Bible, then one must accept that He (Jesus) represents all people, regardless of colour or creed.
Prior to his incarnation, Jesus had no colour, no physical body, according to Bible scholars, such as the late Billy Graham.
Graham had written and voiced aloud: “God doesn’t have a body like we do. God is spirit, the Bible tells us, which means He can be everywhere at the same time. So, also, with his Son in the Beginning, who dwelt with God long before time and the physical universe began.”
People are free to see Jesus in multiple, prismatic lighting as a representation of all people, all colours, all of which are of God’s creation, so say many of the world’s foremost Biblical scholars (scholars of all racial backgrounds).
In all fairness, major print and visual media should not stereotype all protesters as dangerous extremists. Many are peaceful and, sometimes, will openly conflict with individuals within their own assemblage who resort to violence. Such peaceful protests are protected within our U.S. Constitution.
Nonetheless, within the mob rioters and terrorists, a new America is springing up within us.
As a young man, Lincoln openly admitted to his lack of faith. As a politician, he spoke about God but
refused to say he was a Christian.
On 31 July 1846, at age 37, Lincoln wrote: “That I am not a member of any Christian Church is true, but I never denied the truth of the Scriptures.”
On 13 February 1861, in a speech to the Ohio Legislature, one day after his 52nd birthday, and just 4 years until he would be assassinated, he said: “I turn, then, and look to the American people and to that God who has never forsaken them.”
We must now take to our bosom what Lincoln said, and adhere to the God who has never truly forsaken us.
That -- is our last, best hope, and impenetrable fortress.

san diego Humane society Launches adoption Trial Program
San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) has launched a new Adoption Trial Program. This program is designed for potential adopters who want to see how a pet fits into their home before making a lifelong commitment.
The program bridges the gap between fostering — which is an intentionally temporary commitment — and adopting. Rather than signing up as foster volunteers, participants act as “trial adopters,” bringing home a specific adult animal (7 months and up) with the intent to adopt, while having up to 14 days to ensure the pet is the right match. Community members are eligible for this program if they live within SDHS’s jurisdiction.
“You can think of it like a test run,”
said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. “If there is a specific pet you want to bring home, we want you to try things out and see if it is a good fit. It is a win-win — potential adopters don’t feel pressure to commit right away, and pets get a break from the stressful shelter environment, which also opens space for more animals who need our help.”
While SDHS already offers an adoption guarantee that allows adopters to return an animal for any reason, the Adoption Trial Program goes a step further by delaying payment and final adoption paperwork for up to two weeks. During the trial period, the pet remains the legal property of SDHS. If the pet is
not permanently adopted, SDHS will gain valuable insights about the pet’s behavior in a home environment, helping improve future placement efforts.
Currently, SDHS is caring for 1,550 animals with an average length of stay of 51 days in the shelter. The organization has set a new monthly record for adult dogs in care for the last two months: September and October exceeded adult canine capacity compared to any other year. “We have to find creative ways to connect people with our amazing animals,” said Weitzman. “Adoption is always the best option — our pets go home already spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated, and we are here to support every adopter, every step of the way.”
San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside and San Diego.
View adoptable pets online at sdhumane.org/adopt.
San Diego Humane Society’s scope of social responsibility goes beyond adopting animals. We offer programs that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty and neglect, provide medical care, educate the community and serve as a safety net for all pet families. Serving San Diego County since 1880, San Diego Humane Society has campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego. For more information, please visit sdhumane.org.

Can airlines refuse compensation for stolen items if your luggage isn’t damaged?
Yes -- and they often do. Airlines routinely hide behind fine print that limits liability to “verifiable damage” during transport.
Airlines also love to blame third parties, like the TSA.
But consumer protection suggest a different conclusion.
The Montreal Convention, governing international flights, requires carriers to compensate passengers up to approximately $1,700 for lost, damaged, or delayed baggage. Crucially, it doesn’t require visible suitcase damage to claim stolen items.

I have a good friend, Tommy Bonds, who often visits Valley View and will just as often stop by later at my home to fill me in on how successful he was. He has made a ton of money at Valley View. I think I just may join him and hope his luck (or skill) will rub off on me and I, too, would then learn to live like a wealthy potentate . . . or a sheikh. Look for these new columns on gaming within the next several weeks.
Every Friday morning we hold what we laughingly call a “business meeting” at my home. We review what has been done, what needs to be done . . and then we adjourn. After all, it’s almost the weekend and that means . . . college football! And, as a bonus, pro football (college football is better).
Here’s hoping your favorite college team wins their game in convincing fashion!
See you again next week. lyle
proving loss. Most of them won’t process a claim without receipts and police reports.
If you take a picture of the contents of your luggage before you leave, that will give you the best shot at proving your loss.
Documentation is critical. RoederBurns submitted police reports and purchase receipts.
Iberia still demanded “true invoices” -- not screenshots -- for replacement items.
Police reports are the hardest. Most travelers can’t file police reports quickly enough. Roeder-Burns discovered the theft in Minnesota -- two flights and seven time zones from where the theft likely occurred in Madrid. Fortunately, the police report created the documentation that allowed the process to move forward. But it was still not enough.
The most important aspect of any luggage claim is timing. Airlines give you anywhere from a few days to a week to file a claim for pilfered luggage. If you miss the deadline, they will deny your claim. It happened to this Frontier passenger.
How do you fight back when an airline refuses to compensate you for pilfered luggage?
Airlines often refuse requests for compensation, even if they are me-

ticulously documented. (In a perfect world, airlines wish there were regulations that explicitly remove any liability for checked bags, but the law says otherwise.)
Provide additional documentation. Most luggage claims are denied on a technicality. Maybe the receipts were not original. Maybe you filled out the wrong form. So your first step is to jump through the hoops and file the right documentation. Do this as soon as possible.
File an appeal. Roeder-Burns could have appealed the rejection in writing to one of the Iberia Airlines executives we list on our consumer advocacy site, Elliott.org. These high-level managers often read emails from customers and respond to them, clearing some of the red tape and leading to a faster resolution.
Get outside help. Airlines are accountable to regulators such as the U.S. Department of Transportation. If they aren’t following the law, these agencies can prod them into doing the right thing. Also, our advocacy organization is pretty effective at applying gentle pressure to an airline that has lost its way.
By supplying more documentation, appealing your case and getting a third party involved, you stand a better chance of getting your pilfered luggage case resolved quickly.
Will Iberia pay for the pilfered luggage?

Today I completed a chore I had put off for seven months.
It took 12 minutes.
I will learn nothing from this.
Our advocacy team reviewed Roeder-Burns’ case and were not impressed. Obviously, someone had broken into her bag while it was misplaced. Obviously, items were missing. And obviously, the reason for turning down her claim -- that there was no visible damage to the bag -- was laughable.
Our advocate Dwayne Coward contacted Iberia on her behalf. Dwayne is well-versed in EU compensation laws, and he quickly made it clear to the airline that a review of her case was in its best interests. It agreed.
Less than a week later, we heard back from her.
“Thank you so very much for your help,” she told us. “I received an email from them saying they will pay me an additional $500 for a total of $611, which I have now received. It really helped me to cover the cost of replacing the items that were stolen.” ***
