By Friedrich Gomez All of us are fully aware of the post Second World War rush to grab German scientists (well known) as “Operation Paperclip” and how the U. S. savagely competed even with our erstwhile, trusted allies such as England, France, Russia, et al, to grab the best German scientists before they did! However, what is not well known, is how America’s own CIA and FBI secretly collaborated to (success-

fully) overturn President Harry Truman’s Presidential Order. In Operation Paperclip, which President Harry Truman authorised in August of 1945, Truman clearly ordered that anyone found: “To have been a member of the Nazi party and more than a nominal participant in its activities, or an active supporter of Nazi militarism” would be deprived of coming to American shores.

By the letter of the law, as decreed by President Truman himself, just about all of the top German scientists had Nazi party membership, ergo: none could be admitted to the U.S. So, what really happened behind the scenes, involving the rush for WWII German scientists? How did the CIA and FBI clandestinely change the laws and rule of thumb and even sabotage public protests and expunged official WWII records?
