FREE Vol. 6 Issue 167 www.theolivepress.es October 20th - November 2nd 2023 A CONTROVERSIAL development in the heart of a Mallorca beauty spot could finally be completed in December 2024 - almost 20 years after construction began. Cala Romantica Villas, in s’Estany den Mas, consists of 189 chalets, each at a different stage of completion after works were halted as the 2008 financial crash took hold. The ‘ghost village’ has long been an eyesore with repeated promises of completing it failing to come to fruition. In 2020, Catalan developer Bidder Newco finished 45 chalets, while a new developer Cranborne Invest SL, has asked Manacor town hall for an 18-month extension to complete 26 more. As the structures are completed they only mostly require plumbing and electrics. “Obviously we are not happy with where it is located, but it has all

Ghost town hopes the correct municipal licences and is legal so there is nothing we can do,” said mayor Miquel Oliver, this week. Cranborne claims once it is finished it will no longer be a ‘ghost town’ and in danger of being squatted. Cala Romantica Villas was originally built by Terrapolis SA, who went bust before they could finish the inside of the homes. WHAT SANCTIONS?
A RUSSIAN warmonger has held onto his multi-million euro villa despite being the subject of tough international sanctions, the Olive Press can reveal. Alexey Chepa, an MP in Moscow’s State Duma, is still in possession of a huge estate - worth an estimated €15m - in Marbella. He even has staff, including a full time Ukranian gardener, at the mansion in leafy Guadalmina Baja. Spread across 10,725sqm, Chepa’s luxury home features a sports area with a full-size ten-

Incredibly, the estate has not been embargoed even though Chepa is a staunch supporter of warring president Vladimir Putin.
