Cowboys remain undefeated halfway through the season, a historic defense. In the 17 years of Mike Gundy’s tenure as head coach of OSU, the 2021 defense has allowed less yards per game than any other year. This season, the Cowboys are allowing an average of 19.5 points per game, also the lowest in 17 years. On third down this year, OSU only allows a conversion 29.5% of the time, the second lowest in the Gundy era. Gundy had a simple answer as to why the defense has been successful this far. “They’re just playing good,” Gundy said. “Their culture is good, they like each other and they are mature. There are a lot of years and games of experience on that field. It doesn’t faze them. They just go out and play.” Half of the remaining games will

be on the road, nevertheless Gundy is not worried after a win in Austin with 100-thousand Texas fans. Gundy prepared his 82 players, and allowed themselves to prepare for competing in a hostile environment. Of the next six games on the schedule, the only ranked team is Oklahoma. The two teams are currently both undefeated and are ranked in the top 10 of the latest AP Poll. The yearly Bedlam matchup in the last week of the season will be in front of 60-thousand fans at Boone Pickens Stadium. If OSU wishes to pull off an upset, it will have to create more history by becoming the first Cowboy team to be undefeated throughout a 12-game regular season. sports.ed@ocolly.com

Colvin Center opens new Mac Gym Jaden Besteda Staff Reporter

Students looking for anything extra to do inside of the Colvin Recreation Center can now find it in the center. The Center has recently opened a new room for anyone to use called the Mac Gym. The Mac Gym is a room that can be used for lifting weights and playing soccer or football. When walking into the space, the first half will be dedicated to the weights. The setup is eight racks set up horizontally that have everything from 5- 45 pound weights. Right beside every machine there are also medicine balls to accompany the weights. The other side of the gym is a full soccer field which has two nets set up on both sides of it. “Basically we have the soccer field on one side and we have the weights on the other side,” Jacob Wright Colvin employee said. “We put these nets up so nobody working out gets hit with a soccer ball obviously, and yeah, my job is to just make sure everyone is fine and no one gets hurt.” Noah Blackwell, a student and regular Colvin Center attendee, said he loves the new addition. “I like the Mac room because it’s a really nice change of pace and change of scenery,: Blackwell said. “I really like how Oklahoma State is coming up with new ways to get people to work out. I also like to clear my head and the new soccer field is cool because not many universities can say they have a field on campus.” The Mac Gym is located near the back of the Colvin Recreation Center just by the basketball and volleyball courts. Gym hours: Monday through Thursday are 8am-5pm, 8:30pm-12pm. Friday is 8am-5pm. Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. news.ed@ocolly.com
