Yor Anei didn’t have to worry about gaining the freshman 15.

Anei, a starting forward from Overland Park, Kansas, arrived at Oklahoma State as a tall, lanky freshman with potential. He was the first men’s basketball player to sign with coach Mike Boynton and the top recruit in Kansas on 247Sports. com’s list.

Anei had experience as a standout high school player, but he didn’t anticipate the fast-paced, rigorous lifestyle of a college athlete.

“At the beginning of the year, I didn’t really know what being in shape for this was,” Anei said.

After 20 minutes of playing, Anei became exhausted.

“It involved a lot of extra cardio to get my body used to running up and down the floor this many times,” Anei said.

Anei was 6 feet 10 and weighed about 235 pounds when he started practicing with the Cowboys, he said.

Instead of adding the weight numerous freshmen dread, he lost it.

Although Anei said he has dropped about 15 pounds, he gained the endurance and strategy needed to play

more minutes.

Anei played a careerhigh 35 minutes in OSU’s 74-70 victory against South Carolina on Jan. 26 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Despite the Cowboys’ home loss to Kansas State on Saturday, Anei had nine points, five rebounds and one foul through 31 minutes.

Like many other freshmen athletes, Anei has struggled with fouls. In each of his first five Big 12 games, he committed at least four.

Anei has picked up no more than three fouls in each of the Cowboys’ past four games.

“I’ve been trying to get more vertical when I try to block shots and trying to anticipate plays before so I’m not late to spots,” Anei said.

Along with experience, new defensive schemes have contributed to Anei’s ability to limit fouls. The Cowboys (9-12 overall, 2-6 Big 12) are frequently switching from their typical man defense to zones, including the 1-3-1 formation.

“In the zone, you can hide players that are in foul trouble or foulprone,” Anei said.

Boynton said early fouls influence when he decides to switch from man to zone.

junior guard, described the 1-3-1 zone as tremendous, but he said communication is especially vital when he and his teammates are changing defenses.

“If you don’t communicate, then you’re gonna get torched,” Waters said.

Although OSU has lost its past four conference games, Anei said communication with his teammates is at its best. On a closeknit team that has eight scholarship players,

Anei’s role as a big man is crucial. Anei, the tallest Cowboy, said he enjoys the expectations to play more minutes and avoid foul trouble.

As Anei’s game evolves, Waters said it’s important for him to take everything step by step.

“I think he’s done a great job learning thus far, but he’s still got a long way to go,” Waters said.

He said he has grown accustomed to the physicality of the Big 12, and that shows when he aggressively swats shots. He has 42 blocks with an average of two per game, which is 38th in the nation and eighth among freshmen.

Boynton said it usually takes time for freshmen to figure out how to impact a team, but he recognized the

ways Anei has grown.

“What he’s having is a very typical freshman year in terms of steady progress,” Boynton said. “I think he’s gotten better each week.

Hasn’t always produced at a high level, but I can see signs of him becoming a really good player.”

We can’t expect things to happen with us that happened with them. Actually, as we examine them, they had glaring weaknesses.

Some were fearful, morally lacking; some made huge mistakes. Yet, God used them to accomplish wonderful things.

They were challenged, in their day, and as they responded to God’s call, as they trusted God in their various situations, God moved in wonderful ways. As the scripture writer concludes this long list of people like us, who trusted God in their day; he says: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...” (Heb.12:1-2 NIV) Friends, let’s seize the challenge before us.

Let’s see what God will do as we trust him.

The same God who worked in Bible days is alive today. What has challenged your life, yet you hesitate? Why not step out to accomplish something! Trust Jesus, who started your faith walk, and see what the Lord Jesus will accomplish through you.

‘Avengers: EndGame’ Super Bowl Trailer Analysis J et Turn er

Only two months and 20 days until the wait is over.

“Avengers: EndGame” is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, but for now all we have to subdue our appetites are teaser trailers. Most recently, the one shown during Super Bowl LIII. Although the trailer is only 30 seconds long, there is still plenty of speculation to be had about some of the major plot points of the upcoming summer blockbuster.

The trailer opens with the Marvel Studios logo fading away into dust. The logo fade and music set the scene for how

bleak and empty Earth is after the events of “Avengers: Infinity War.” The first shots are scenes of New York City. The Statue of Liberty, an empty Mets’ Stadium and a dark sky show how empty the world is since Thanos (Josh Brolin) was able “Avengers: EndGame”/IMDb to fulfill his master plan.

America with his shield is next, meaning he must get it back from the government after he threw it on the ground during the end of “Captain America: Civil War.” It is safe to assume Captain America and the rest of his team are not being persecuted as international fugitives anymore after not signing the Sokovian Accords.

The trailer ends with the surviving Avengers walking down a corridor. The background looks like the airport where the big fight from “Captain America: Civil War” took place, leading me to believe this will be the moment the Avengers go into space to find Thanos.

The most glaring part of the trailer are the moments where there is a group of the Avengers

together. There are gaping holes in the group shots, making me think that the production team has edited someone out of the shots so we are not spoiled on events in the movie. I believe that the edited-out cast member is either Captain Marvel, who is more than likely going to have a huge showing in her own movie, or Shuri, Black Panther’s sister who hasn’t been confirmed as alive or not.
