Student debt: Is there a way out?

Debt.

It’s the newest fourletter profanity among college kids.

A word that once was mostly connected with credit cards and home mortgages now strikes fear into the hearts of college students nearly every day. The one thing students are taught to avoid in college is largely unavoidable now due to the rising costs of college.

According to the College Board Trends in College Pricing report for 2019, tuition alone for “flagship colleges” in all 50 states raised 2.47 percent from the 20182019 school year to the 2019-2020 school year.

Debt weighs on every student who needs loans to finance their education.

Music performance senior Kassie Lindamood is in her second semester at Oklahoma State. She has taken out about $13,000

in loans... so far. She did not have to take out any at her previous institution.

“It makes me feel constantly stressed,” Lindamood said. “My main concern is that I won’t make enough money as a performer or teacher to pay off my loans.”

Carrying student loans can greatly affect how students look at their futures. Hunter Pogue, a senior management and information systems major, has taken out nearly $60,000 in loans.

“Being in debt adds a lot of stress,” Pogue said.

“I feel as though I will be digging myself out of a hole for the first part of my career while I am paying the loans back …

I think it will affect my ability to make important purchases such as buying a car or a house.”

many current and former students face.

“Student loans and student debt is something than affects so many of us,” Horn said during a town hall meeting at OSU-OKC. “Not only those of us who have it or had it or anticipate having to take it out, but it is an issue for people, for individuals and it is an economic issue for so many.

“Over the course of the last couple of decades across this country, and Oklahoma is certainly no exception, we have been a part of this. The cost of a higher education at a public four-year institution has more than doubled … Now we have $1.6 trillion across this country in outstanding student loan debt, and the average Oklahoman has $26,000.”

Students complain that OSU isn’t doing enough to inform them on loans and student debt, in terms of what tools are available for help and more. Both Pogue and

Lindamood said they have not received any information from OSU about loans.

“It’s almost like the university tries its best to not talk about it,” Lindamood said. “Everyone knows that everyone is in debt, but no one talks about it.”

The recently opened Chase Bank in Stillwater is planning to have classes free of charge to help students with their finances.

“We are thrilled to be here at really what we think is the heart of the community, which is right across the street from the

Oklahoma State University campus,” said Jonny Rogers, branch manager for Stillwater’s Chase Bank. “We want to serve all of the community but particularly the student population we find really really important.

“A lot of people get to college and they don’t have a plan for personnel finance. We here, free of charge, could be that source for students about how to build a budget, how to build a plan and how to get started on the right foot because your financial life starts right when you hit campus.”

Pogue said he would

be “very interested” in a financial aid class.

“I think most students would benefit from it,” Pogue said. “When you come to college, you don’t have very much guidance and I think that classes would help students make smarter decisions with their money.”

Debt is not only something students deal with throughout their collegiate careers, it follows students for the rest of their lives.

While things may be happening to help students, will they ever be able to catch up?

Oklahoma State students nearly double the population of Stillwater, but many students don’t consider themselves residents and won’t participate in the census.

The U.S. Census Bureau defines your usual residence as “if they live or stay at the residence most of the time; OR stayed there on April 1, 2010 and had no permanent place to live; OR stay at the residence more time than any other place they might life or stay.” By this defi-

nition, OSU students should complete the census as residents of Stillwater.

The current estimated population of Stillwater is 50,391, including the students at Oklahoma State.

After the 2010 census the population was 45726. The population growth over the past ten years changes Stillwater’s categorization from an urban cluster to an urbanized area, a change with the potential to bring in more funding for both Stillwater and OSU. “There are federal grants that we do receive or can receive and the amount avail-

able for those grants is determined by population,” Mayor William Joyce said. “There’s also sort of the more indirect funding in terms of transportation funding that’s allocated to the community or healthcare funding … based on its size … it really touches just about everything we do.”

Being on the brink of a categorical change makes an accurate census count that much more important for Stillwater, but many students either don’t know what the census is or simply won’t participate.

rison was unsure of what the census is and why it is important.

“I’ve heard that’s how they count people, but I don’t know exactly what it is,” Harrison said. “I don’t have a clear understanding of what it is and what I’m doing it for … it sounds important but its not something that I didn’t think would be very important because it’s not something that I was taught or seemed like I was supposed to know.”

Freshman Cato Leibe understands what the census is but still isn’t planning to participate.

“I don’t consider myself a resident,” Leibe said. “If I’m supposed to put my legal address for anything, it’s to my home in Moore, not Stillwater.”

What many students don’t realize is funding that affects Stillwater also affects Oklahoma State.

“A lot of those things are the same,” Joyce said. “availability of transportation,

healthcare, all that sort of thing is related to, if it affects Stillwater it affects Oklahoma State … the population of our community includes those folks at Oklahoma State, includes students in that sort of thing so we want to be very sure to get an accurate count of university students.”

The 2020 census officially begins Jan. 21, giving students at Oklahoma State time to figure out how to accurately participate and aid Stillwater in receiving correctly allocated federal funding.

Becoming a student study spot: Q&A with Dean of Libraries Megan Hays S taff Repo rter @ m egtherep ort er

Through the years major changes have been made to make the library a better environment for students.

Sheila Grant Johnson, dean of libraries, was a major advocate in improving the library to serve the students during her career at OSU. She sat down and talked about how the library became what students know it as today and how it can still evolve for future students.

Q:What is your role as dean of libraries?

A:“It is just provide leadership and overall operations of the library services we provide to students. Make sure that we have a good environment, adequate well trained knowledgeable staff.

Respond to and anticipate future needs for library services and the campus.”

Q: What was the library like before the changes like the study rooms or the noise levels were made?

A: “I came in 1978, I was the head of circulation. I moved up through the ranks and became assistant university librarian in about 1990 and dean of libraries in 2004. So I’ve seen a lot of transitions and changes in the library and the building… There are really two buildings that make up the Edmon

Low Library, the original building was built in 1953 and that’s the one with the fountain and grand staircase. In 1968 they added, I call it a box, on the backside of the library.

Together those were designed to hold about a million and a half volumes. Not only is a library a place to build collections of books and journals, it’s also a place to provide opportunities for students to study and come in a do work related to their courses… The collection had grown to almost 4 million volumes and so those were all stuffed into facilities that were designed for 1.5 million.

So what had happened over the years is that they took out a lot of student seating and built longer and longer book stacks…

We began moving and creating space by moving things out. About that time we did a lot of work on the first floor. We created a new more prominent circulation desk… We also moved all the books off that floor and created a large computer cluster for students and we expanded our little coffee nook into Cafe Libro so there’s more food options for students if they’re here late at night.

That helped us for quite a bit… As we move materials out, we have the opportunity to create spaces for students and study spaces and different services in the building. That’s where a lot of changes have been over the last 15 years.”

Q: Why is it important to create that space for students?

A: “We think that is an important function of the library. The librarian that designed the original library, Edmon Low, he wrote that the library is the private side of students, this is where they would come and study.

The classroom is their public side of their education. We just feel that it is important for students to have a place where they walk into the building and a trigger switches and it is a time to work on some kind of class assignment.

In modern classes a lot of that is group assignments so we need study rooms or areas where they can talk and not be shushed. We also need areas if they’re studying for a test and they need quiet so we need to have a variety of those spaces. A space to come between classes to come and be efficient or just relax and think about life or talk to friends then we hope the library is a place that is welcoming for students to do that.”

Q: How has moving to more and more electronic copies of resources provided more space for students?

A: “As we move more volumes we can reduce the footprint of our bookstacks and that creates space that we can then repurpose. It isn’t that those journals or books are out of reach, we

can retrieve them fairly quickly. At each location we have scanners, so if someone needs just an article we can scan it and send it to a professor in engineering or a student who’s studying in Dallas.

We’re not getting rid of materials, how we access them is different.”

Q: How is technology bettering the library for students?

A: “I think the technology also helps them find materials or things on their topic much more readily and easily… So it kind of takes some of the library intermediate reference services and puts it at your fingertips that you can explore more readily…

When I first started, a faculty member might assign the class to read a certain article or certain chapter, first one over to the library who found it would take it over to a photo copy machine or they’d check it out and there was only one person using the book.

Now you can have many people looking at an online journal.”

Q: What is the purpose of the library now?

A: “I think it is still basically the same, connecting individuals with the information that they need at the time they need it. Whether it’s current materials or historical materials so that students and faculty can explore the knowledge that has been accumulated over

centuries and can read for themselves the writings of philosophers or thinkers or scientists or ordinary people.”

Q: What are the future plans for the library?

A: “I want to anticipate and be able to provide the kinds of technology and the kinds of services that students who are not here yet... that we will have those things in place for them or we’ll know how to get it. I want my staff to be noble, I want us to think creatively. We also have to listen and watch and observe what students are doing and needing and what they’re asking for. It’s kinda an exciting thing. We aren’t doing the same thing over and over

again.”

Q: How to you feel about the redefining role of the library in student life?

A: “I think it is a healthy thing, I think it is an appropriate thing. Students are the whole purpose to why we’re here. Not only today’s students but future students… Working on a campus where you’re trying to help students to achieve their dreams of education that they need to achieve the things they want to do in life, to be productive citizens, to be happy. I enjoy being involved in that development and seeing it go forward through the different generations.”

Jones remains upbeat during career at OSU Ni ck Old enb u r g

Everyone experiences something different with Oklahoma State soccer player Jaci Jones.

Some people look at her 18 career goals at OSU. Others point to her 24 assists in a Cowgirl uniform. Some look at her leadership from day one, as she scored in her first game as a freshman. Most love the tenacity she plays with.

However, one word that comes to mind no matter who you talk to regarding the senior midfielder from Mustang, Oklahoma, is upbeat.

Coach Colin Carmichael said Jones is a coach’s dream. “(She) works hard all the time, makes good decisions on and off the field and (she’s) obviously a super talented player,” Carmichael said. “Her upbeat personality, her love for the game and just her love for life, it just rubs off on the group, and she’s just a joy to be around. I’m so thankful she chose OSU, and it’s been a really fun ride with her for four years.”

Cowgirl goalkeeper Dani Greenlee and defender Elise Hawn both came into OSU the same year as Jones.

Greenlee said that Jones is always smiling.

“I truly don’t think I’ve ever seen her come to practice and be upset about something,” Greenlee said. “She’s very good at leaving problems that are off the field off the field.

She’s good at coming to practice upbeat like ‘Let’s grind’ or ‘Let’s get to work.’”

Hawn said not only has she never seen Jones down at practice, she said she’s never seen her upset at all.

“I’ve never seen her sad,” Hawn said. “She’s always been upbeat, and even if she’s sad, she doesn’t show it.

She just wants to be the best for her teammates, and she’s just so fun to be around.”

It goes beyond Jones just being upeat, though. Carmichael, Greenlee and Hawn also all mentioned Jones’ leadership skills.

“She became a captain for us her sophomore year,” Carmichael said. “That presented some challenges for her. Not as a soccer player, but just as a leader.”

“Now, she’s fully embraced that role. She has a very loud voice, a very confident voice and she knows what’s right and wrong. She’s not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and call people out when

necessary and pick them up when necessary.”

Jones’ teammates both said they could see her leadership as a freshman, and they weren’t surprised she got the honor as a sophomore.

Jones’ leadership comes with talent, too.

She began playing at 4 years old, but her soccer prowess can be traced back to her first steps.

“I have three older siblings, and all three of them played,” Jones said. “As soon as I could walk, I was out on the soccer fields kicking the ball around.

Really, as soon as I could walk, I was play-

ing soccer.”

When she was recruited to play college soccer, she said there was never a definitive moment that she knew she was good enough.

“Once (I) started getting recruited, I thought if I’m on these coaches’ radars, then I might be able to make it in college,” Jones said. “As soon as I took my first visit, I was like ‘OK, maybe I can do it.’”

While she’s been at OSU, Jones has been a part of many memorable moments. In fact, just recently on Oct. 31, the Cowgirl soccer team clinched their second regular-season Big 12 title in three years.

memory throughout her four years in Stillwater was the 2017 regular season finale when she won her first regularseason Big 12 championship.

During that trip down to Austin to face the Texas, the Cowgirls were only allowed to take 22 of their active roster members. Before the game started, Jones and her teammates were greeted with a surprise when they looked up into the stands.

“The rest of our team had all come together and traveled down there together on their own expense,” Jones said.

“Whenever we won, they were there to cel-

ebrate with us.”

Even as she is leaving the campus and moving on to the next stage in life, she is still finding ways to stay upbeat.

She won’t be playing with any recruits who come to Stillwater, but that didn’t stop her from giving her pitch.

“You talk to other girls at different schools, and there’s just a disconnect between the coaching staff and the team,” Jones said.

“I think with our team and our coaching staff, we have a really good relationship. They care for you as people more than just a soccer player, student or whatever it may be.”

Being a full-time student is a lot of work, but some students at OSU have taken their side hustles to another level and have created their own businesses.

The following four students have created businesses, whether it be selling products or performing a service to others. Brenna Flanary is a studio art junior with a teaching certificate; she is also the creator of Bee Cool Design Co. Flanary came up with her business name to create a design company that incorporated multiple items, evolving into its future rather than solely

buttons.

“Bee Cool Design Co. evolved from an Instagram business to a website, to boutiques and just recently to an LLC,” Flanary said. “I am currently in the process of becoming licensed through Oklahoma State and other schools.”

Flanary has gained several things from her business.

“I have made so many friends. I’ve built social skills and have definitely developed a new level of confidence,” Flanary said.

Kendall Minaldi is a fashion merchandising sophomore with a minor in marketing. Minaldi was inspired to create her business, Threads x Kendall Paige, after being assigned a project for

class.

“I was in design theory last year and I painted a denim jacket as part of the final project and I really enjoyed doing it,” Minaldi said. “I ended up wearing the jacket because I liked the way it turned out, and people started to ask me about it, so I turned it into a business.”

Minaldi has learned valuable business knowledge through Threads x Kendall Paige.

“I have gained insight to what marketing strategies are actually effective, at least on a small scale which I will use in my future career,” Minaldi said. “It has definitely been interesting to learn that firsthand with my own business.”

Miranda Raney, a strategic communications senior, has been surprised with what her business, Kickass Tees, has brought her.

“I have gained friendships with other people who run small businesses in Stillwater,” Raney said.

“We team up for giveaways or collaborations and everyone is really supportive of each other.”

Raney is involved extracurriculars like With Purpose, which advocates and spread awareness for childhood cancer. She is the coordinator of a blanket drive and involved with different honor societies.

“Right now, I am involved with a lot of things on campus as well as homework,” Raney

said. “Usually I work on the business on Fridays and on the weekends because I don’t have class then.”

Kenna Taylor, a sophomore majoring in elementary education, is interested in continuing her business Tan and Lash by K after college.

“As this business has evolved over the last year and a half, I have grown to realize that I want to eventually attend esthetician school and be certified,” Taylor said. “I am up for wherever this takes me as either a side job or a full-time job.”

Running a business can help put into perspective the importance of time management.

“It is a little hard to manage school, life and

the business because it is on my own time and I can schedule appointments as early or as late as I want,” Taylor said. “As time has progressed, I have learned to end appointments at a certain time, so I am able to work on school or spend time with my friends.”

Having her own business, Taylor has been able to form several valuable relationships.

“I have gained a lot of friendships that were unexpected,” Taylor said.

“People that have found me from my Instagram and my sorority sisters that I didn’t really know before I tanned or gave them lashes have evolved into personal relationships that I am grateful for.”

It’s late November; students are craving Thanksgiving break, dreading finals and prepping for Christmas shopping. The semester has gone by quickly, and it may be hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week, but surprise surprise it is.

But don’t worry!

These 6 tips will get you through Black Friday.

Tip 1: Have a Plan First thing is first: the best way to have a successful Black Friday shopping spree is to have a game plan.

Does the football team play without a plan?

Do doctors perform surgeries without a plan? No. So why would you go into a store without having a plan?

The key to Black Friday shopping is knowing what you are looking for (specifically) and where that item can be found.

The nice thing about Black Friday shopping is that there are plenty of magazines and commercials to advertise the deals that stores have. Target and Walmart often advertise a lot about their after-Thanksgiving sales. It’s important to look out for this in

order to see what you might get for yourself or for others. It’s also important to have a back up plan.

There could be a chance that you go to a store looking for an item, but it’s out of stock. Mapping out multiple stores close to where you live that carry the specific items that you want is a great way to have options on black Friday just incase your main store is out of stock.

Making a shopping list of the most to least significant items is also a great way to have a solid plan of which stores you want to go to first. Having a plan will save you a lot of time and a lot of the stress.

Tip 2: Wake up early

Another key factor to having a successful Black Friday is getting a good night’s rest and waking up early. The best chance of getting exactly what you’re looking for is getting to the store as soon as it opens. Store openings on Black Friday vary, but early bird gets the worm. The worst feeling is being excited to go to a store and quickly becoming discouraged because the item that you were looking for is sold out.

If you are planning on camping at a store over night, then I suggest sleeping throughout the day so that by nighttime, when you are about to camp, you feel energized. If you are planning on waking up early in the morning, then I suggest taking a nice hot shower and going to bed early.

It may seem weird at first, but you will be energized, rested and ready to shop!

Tip 3: Don’t bring little kids or little siblings Now, this tip may not apply to everyone, but for people with little siblings 12 and under, leave them at home.

Black Friday shopping is usually packed, and it can chaotic. There are hundreds of people running everywhere grabbing items off shelves and shoving past people. Having a child puts them in danger of getting hurt, and it could also slow you down.

Also, if you happen to run past the toy section, the chances are pretty high that your sibling or child will stop and ask for something. This leaves you in the awkward position of either having to tell them no or to buying it along with the many other gifts that you were planning

on buying. This could also ruin the surprise of their gift if you picked it up earlier, and they happen to find it. The most important reason to leave your sibling or little kid at home, is just for their safety. Black Friday is scary enough looking out for yourself; it will be even scarier looking out for someone smaller than you.

Tip 4: Bring a friend

Black Friday can be very stressful, lonely even. A way to fix this could be to bring a friend or a close family member. Bringing a friend or relative along can not only make you more excited to shop, but you can collaborate and give each other gift ideas.

This could also be a sneaky way for you to find out what catches their eye, so that you can get that gift for them! Shopping with a friend is a great and fun way to spend time with each other after the holidays!

Tip 5: Wear comfortable clothes Black Friday shopping consists of a lot of walking, running, lifting, reaching and possibly even squatting. It is important to wear comfortable

clothes, not only so you can move around easily, but so you can feel good, too.

There will be a lot of people shopping for items, so on one will be focused on what you’re wearing.

Some people camp out all night in the same clothes that they had on the day before, but their only concern is getting that new flat screen tv.

Being comfortable on Black Friday is more important than looking super cute, because you will be moving around all day.

The worst feeling is to be in the mood for shopping, but suddenly wanting to stop because your feet are killing you. Sweats and a hoodie are a perfectly fine attire for Black Friday shopping.

You can slay after you bring home all the sweet deals.

Tip 6: Be careful During Black Friday, chaos is possible.

People are tired, hungry and determined to get the good deals.

Black Friday is a whole different playing field, and although it has gotten better with the amount of people getting hurt, it is still important to be cautious. A way to be cautious is to avoid running; if you can. A way that you can avoid

this is by scooping out the specific item that you want, and when it’s time to let everyone in, just fast walk to the item. This can help you avoid bumping into someone or knocking someone over.

Another way to be cautious is if you see people pushing and shoving, go the other way. Getting an item for cheap is not worth getting hurt. Also, if you see violence don’t be afraid to tell a worker. This will help keep the situation under control with the least amount of people getting hurt.

Tip 7: Have fun!

Black Friday can be seen as a serious matter, but at end of the day it’s all fun. Black Friday shopping is meant for people to get discounted items usually used as Christmas gifts for people they care about.

Getting gifts for people should make a person feel good; it shouldn’t be a chore.

Black Friday also may not be for everyone. If so, then there are other options like Cyber Monday. No matter which path you choose toward getting the perfect gift, have fun, be safe and best of luck!

Oklahoma State safety Kolby Harvell-Peel has been on a rampage this season.

It all started when the sophomore had a fumble recovery, interception and 10 tackles in the Cowboys’ loss to Texas earlier in the season. That’s when all of the Big 12 knew the name Kolby Harvell-Peel.

From then, he’s continued to be a dominant threat in the Cowboys’ secondary.

He just secured his third Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award after he had two interceptions against Kansas.

Harvell-Peel has won onefourth of this season’s Big

12 Defensive Player of the Week awards.

That’s astonishing.

Harvell-Peel is a sure lock for All-Big 12 first team at this point. And if he can continue to bring the fire in OSU’s last two games, he has a shot at Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

But what we’re talking about is bigger than the AllBig 12 first team or Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award. We’re talking about Harvell-Peel as a potential All-American.

Tre Flowers was the last OSU defensive back to be named an All-American in 2017.

In that season, Flowers had 79 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Flowers deserved to be on the list because he was one of the hardest hitting safeties in college football.

But Harvell-Peel brings a whole different dynamic.

Through nine games, Harvell-Peel has 60 tackles, five interceptions, two forced

fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He’s not only able to bring guys down to the ground, but he’s also tremendous in coverage.

Harvell-Peel ranked third in the FBS in passes defended per game and No. 4 in interceptions.

To put it simply, similar to what Mike Gundy has previously said, Harvell-Peel is in the right place at the right time.

Now there are 13 AllAmerican teams chosen each season, and I believe Harvell-Peel should be on one of those lists, if not more.

When looking at other top defensive backs in the FBS, there are some good players.

Darreon Jackson of Arkansas State leads all defensive backs in tackles with 91 and added four tackles for loss and one interception.

He is an underrated player who should receive some consideration.

In the interceptions category, Texas Tech’s Douglas

Coleman has eight in 10 games. Similar to HarvellPeel, Coleman has two games with two interceptions. One of those games was against Oklahoma State.

When you look at HarvellPeel’s stats from interceptions to passes defended, there aren’t many players to stack up against him.

The most notable thing from the No. 11 Oklahoma State wrestling team’s 21-20 loss to No. 10 Lehigh wasn’t that the Cowboys had snapped their 21 dual win streak.

It was the questionable way that OSU (2-0) was forced to forfeit at 133 pounds, which eventually led to the Cowboys losing on criteria as Lehigh led 57-47 in match points scored.

The night before Witcraft was cleared by the Drexel doctors to compete in the Cowboys’ first duel of the season, where he lost 5-1.

The next day Witcraft

failed his skin check by the Lehigh’s training staff and the Cowboys were forced to forfeit the weight, eventually losing the dual in part due to the failed skin check.

In OSU coach John Smith’s coaching career he said that Witcraft failing the check was a first.

“You think you’ve seen everything in 29 years, and then all of a sudden (this happens).” Smith said.

Montalvo and Geer to stay at current weights After the suspension of Alex Kauffman prior to the beginning of the season, Smith was forced to move 184 pound AllAmerican Dakota Geer up to 197 and insert redshirt freshman Anthony Montalvo at 184.

The State Room, an oncampus bar and restaurant inside The Atherton Hotel, is no longer accepting meal plan from students.

Josh Barnard, general manager of The Atherton Hotel since October 2012, oversees all operations of The Atherton Hotel, including The Ranchers Club and The State Room.

When The State Room opened in 2016, it was mostly utilized by hotel patrons as a relaxing lounge atmosphere to have drinks and enjoy bar food, Barnard said.

“The State Room was purposely built with hotel guests in mind, though we want everyone to come and enjoy it, there is only so much we can handle,” Barnard said.

Barnard said the decision to no longer accept meal plan was made after the recent demand of students using meal plan at The State Room became overwhelming.

“We’ve never had students use their meal plan in The State Room as much as they have this semester,” Barnard said. “Any kitchen would not be able to handle 200 people at once, which is what we’ve seen. It’s a new phenomenon for us.”

Barnard said he wants to ensure diners at The State Room have a quality experience.

everyone is taken care of to our standards and to their standards,” Barnard said.

“We don’t want anyone to leave disappointed.”

Barnard encourages students to continue eating at The State Room and The Ranchers Club.

“Students are still very much welcome. We didn’t do this with malicious intent, we just want to make sure the customers are served to the standards that both the customer and ourselves would expect,” Barnard said.

Students can continue to use their meal plan at The Ranchers Club and for takeout orders.

“I know that it can be a lot with a bunch of students coming in using meal plan, and it being so busy,” Houston said. “It makes sense that students use their meal plan elsewhere.”

Houston said he’s going to continue to eat at the Ranchers Club and get take-out.

“The food is amazing, we’re lucky to have a place like that on campus,” Houston said. “I’ll never stop eating there.”

Students using meal plan at The Ranchers Club cannot purchase alcohol or tip over 50%.
