A nearly 56-foot-tall Justice Hill appeared on the screen, his feet flying across the turf in the crystal-clear replay.

The gigantic new video board in Boone Pickens Stadium gave fans a detailed look at Hill’s historic first-quarter play.

With a burst of speed, he powered toward the end zone to start the last drive of the quarter, unstoppable until Missouri State’s Jordan Wilkes reached him before he could score.

Hill, a junior running back on the Oklahoma State football team, led a squadron of rushers who stormed past MSU 58-17 in their season opener on Thursday night in Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys dominated the Bears 436-110 in rushing yards.

Hill’s 93-yard run made history as the alltime fourth-longest rush for an OSU player. It was a Cowboy’s longest run since 2003, when Tatum Bell tallied a 95yard rush against Texas Tech.

As football season approached, OSU coach Mike Gundy expressed faith in Hill’s talent but said he would try to keep him at about 15-20 touches per game.

Hill accumulated his 10 rushing attempts, as well as one 22-yard reception, in the first half.

Although Hill laid the foundation for the Cowboy rushers, he didn’t stand alone.

Chuba Hubbard, a redshirt freshman running back from Canada, garnered attention from fans and media in his OSU debut.

Hubbard displayed his swiftness, dodging defenders and sprinting through the gaps. He showcased his versatility, as his first career touchdown was on a passing play. Taylor Cornelius, the Cowboys’ quarterback, delivered the ball to Hubbard for a 54-yard touchdown with 2:14 left in the third quarter. The connection gave OSU a 45-17 lead after kicker Matt Ammendola’s successful PAT. LD Brown, a redshirt sophomore rusher, bolted down the edge for 77 yards, adding the Cowboys’ last touch-

down with 12:19 left in the fourth quarter.

Each of the running backs on the depth chart contributed to OSU’s offensive efforts. J.D. King, a sophomore rusher, didn’t score but tallied 52 yards.

“I like where they’re at as a group,” Gundy said. “I think they’re a really good package and give us a lot of depth.”

Cornelius, the Cowboys’ starting quarterback and Mason Rudolph’s former backup, threw 24-for-34. He tossed one interception but passed for five touchdowns.
