Spring break begins on Saturday. SATURDAY. If you’re anything like me, you were literally counting down the days. But, if you’re anything like me you’re on that #brokecollegelyfe, and you haven’t saved enough money to go to PCB with your friends. Oh well, we’re better off, PCB Spring Break is full of sunburn and regret. So, whether you waited too long to plan a beach getaway or you are getting by eating Ramen — or Poptarts in my case — you can STILL have fun staying at home.

As society’s technological capabilities continue to increase, we are gaining more and more options as to what we can have delivered right to our homes.

Stillwater residents now have the option to have food from 15 popular restaurants, such as Fuzzy’s Tacos, Qdoba and Whataburger, delivered to their doorsteps.

The company behind this service is Crunchbutton, based in Los Angeles, and its free app is available for download straight to customers’ smartphones.

“We can deliver from anywhere that doesn’t deliver themselves and that’s within reasonable distance from campus,” said Rob Schmidt, marketing director at Crunchbutton.

Using the Crunchbutton app works much in the same way as what consumers are used to when ordering a pizza online.

After entering an

address, customers are presented with a selection of 15 local restaurants.

Each restaurant has a simplified version of its full menu. The customers then choose a meal and payment option.

In my case, the application estimated that my Qdoba burrito would arrive within 40 minutes. The delivery driver showed up on my doorstep after 30 minutes with a hot meal in hand.

Crunchbutton charges a flat-rate delivery fee of $3.

“It’s really neat because my friends and I were talking about the fact that the only thing to get (delivered) in this town is pizza,” said Lezlie Momburger, part-time Crunchbutton delivery driver.

Schmidt said the company has only been around for two years, but it’s planning on expanding to college campuses around the nation.

Momburger said Crunchbutton is currently operating at fewer than 30 college campuses.

“Our goal is to be at over 3,000 college campuses and to deliver great

food to students and those who couldn’t normally visit the restaurants due to disability or impairment,” Schmidt said.

Crunchbutton also offers the opportunity for employment to anyone who has a valid driver’s license and form of transportation. Applications can be submitted at: https://crunchbutton. com/drivers/apply.

“It’s fun, and it’s good because I think college kids can get involved,” Momburger said. “It’s easy to do.”

Most restaurants that Crunchbutton offers as options aren’t affiliated with the service. Rather, delivery drivers use a company credit card to buy the food up front. Drivers use the information provided by the customer to place a custom order at the given restaurant.

“The reason people should chose Crunchbutton is because we’re cool, wacky and relatable,” Schmidt said. “We just happen to deliver food to college kids.”

‘Cinderella’ Releases Friday f the trailers are any indication, then Disney’s latest golden age reimagining aims to be more traditional than last year’s “Maleficent.”

There’s no catch — no untold origin stories. It’s just, well, “Cinderella.”

WALT DISNEY STUDIOS That isn’t a knock against the film, though. Of the studio’s recent liveaction adaptations, this one shows the most promise. Director Kenneth Branagh’s (“Thor,” “Hamlet”) sensibilities lend themselves perfectly to this sort of material.

You know, without going off the rails like Tim Burton did with “Alice in Wonderland.” Granted, that could still happen — I haven’t seen the movie yet — but Branagh has a habit of being more restrained.

If I were a betting man, then I wouldn’t place a ton of confidence in “The Gunman.” Director Pierre Morel’s (“Taken”) frenetic style hasn’t done much for me.

Similarly to “Insurgent,” though, much of the onscreen talent is there. I mean, just look at the main cast: Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, OPEN ROAD FILMS Idris Elba and Ray Winstone — world-class actors.

The plot, unfortunately, sounds as if it’s going through the motions — a retired soldier who is forced to get back in the game. Coupled with Morel’s shaky, albeit brief, track record, “Gunman” has me more apprehensive than thrilled.

‘The Imposter’ “The Imposter” has the look and feel of a midnight true crime cable network special, but the gripping nature of the story and creative cinematography sets it apart.

PICTUREHOUSE ENTERTAINMENT The film focuses on a 23-year-old living in Spain in the late 1990s who elaborately devised a plan to infiltrate a children’s home and wound up in the arms of an American family claiming he was their kidnapped son who went missing three years prior.

There isn’t much more to say without ruining the truly captivating elements of “The Imposter.” It’s something a documentary lover just has to see for themselves. The title and quick description give us insight into what we’ll experience, but the story’s evolution is a marvel to watch unfold.

‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ “Exit Through the Gift Shop” addresses the many misconceptions in the world of street art with an amusing story involving the internationally famed graffiti artist PRODUCERS Banksy and an eccenDISTRIBUTION AGENCY tric French documentary filmmaker.

Through the use of humor and an honest look into the lives of several prominent graffiti artists, “Exit Through the Gift Shop” goes from spectacular documentation of these artists in action to questioning what constitutes art.

Obsessive hobby, triumphant artistry and the creative process are at the forefront of Banksy’s film, but an interesting twist finds its way into the mix when he reminisces on his decision to let this new documentarian into his world of dangerous stunts and often politically driven street art.

OSU STUDENT FACES TWO MISDEMEANOR CHARGES

March 6: Stillwater Police arrested OSU student Kaleb Jack Slayton, 19, for distribution of controlled dangerous substance and possession of paraphernalia.

Slayton posted recognizance bond Monday.

Slayton appeared in person and without counsel before Payne County Court and was charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana, a felony, Monday.

If convicted, Slayton could face a maximum sentence of life in prison along with maximum fine of $20,000.

March 7: OSUPD arrested Thomas Dequincy Rozelle Jr. after officers approached him in the 1300 block of North Walnut around 9 p.m.

Rozelle, 20, posted recognizance bond March 8.

Payne County Court charged Rozelle with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia March 9.

Rozelle appeared in court Thursday with his attorney Lorenzo Banks. His case was continued until May 12 at 3 p.m.

If convicted, Rozelle faces a maximum of two years in prison along with a maximum fine of $2,000.

March 7: Stillwater Police arrested Stillwater High School student and wrestler Jordan Michael Dieringer for possession of marijuana.

Dieringer, 18, was arrested in the 1400 block of West Lakeview after officers pulled him over around 10:30 a.m.

An online program for a graduate degree option for forensic sciences launched in summer 2014, and interest in the degree as been high.

Wagner hopes the program will bring a level of prestige to the institution as it works to train those who protect others.

On the morning of April 19, 1995 an explosion tore through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people and injuring more than 680 others.

“Unfortunately, we know situations like these are going to happen again,” says Jarrad Wagner, associate professor of forensic sciences at OSU CENTER FOR HEALTH SCIENCES in Tulsa. “Our job is to prepare the men and women who respond to these incidents with the best knowledge and training so they remain safe and can help find and convict those responsible.”

Arguello says the pipeline industry in her family goes back to her great-greatgrandfather and Solis chose to pursue the degree because of her father. Both are the first female students enrolled in pipeline integrity technology and both say they were hesitant at first but their families were supportive.

“My dad was all for it because he said there was a lot of opportunities for women in this field,” Arguello said.

“I did some research and discovered the Wind Turbine Technology program at OSU-OKC,” Beckstrom said. “With the name OSU attached to a program, you know there will be quality standards when you spend money on your education.” With three generations of his family graduating from Oklahoma State University, he was excited at the prospect of becoming the fourth.

As a wind turbine technician at an Oklahoma wind power generator company, Beckstrom employs problem solving techniques similar to those learned in his classes in order to diagnose faults in wind turbines.

Beckstrom looks forward to continuing his new career in wind energy and having a positive impact on future generations.

He believes wind and other renewable energies will play a large role in helping to reduce carbon emissions and prolong the reserves of cleaner fossil fuels. “I want to be a part of that, however small,” Beckstrom said.

The NCAA selection committee announced Wednesday that nine Oklahoma State wrestlers will have a chance at glory in St. Louis come March 19.

Of the qualified wrestlers, six earned seeded rankings, three earned top-10 seeds, two earned top-five seeds and one claimed the No. 1 seed in his weight division.

At 125 pounds, No. 7 Eddie Klimara (20-5) secured his highest seeding in the three years he’s qualified. He was unseeded in 2013 and was No. 14 in 2014. Klimara will look to finish as an AllAmerican since he fell one match short the previous two seasons.

Freshman Gary Wayne Harding (28-11) earned an unseeded wildcard berth at 133 thanks to his No. 22 RPI. In the first round, he will wrestle No. 16 Mackenzie McGuire of Kent State, who was upset by an unseeded freshman in the first round of last year’s tournament.

No. 14 Dean Heil (22-8) will face Jesse Thielke (5-11) of Wisconsin in the opening round at 141. Heil will likely face No. 3 Lavion Mayes of Missouri in the second round. Heil is 0-2 against Mayes on the season, including a 2-1 loss in a tiebreaker period at the Southern Scuffle.

Alex Dieringer (29-0) earned the No. 1 seed at 165.

He defeated second-seeded Michael Moreno of Iowa State by a 14-4 major decision at the Big 12 Championship. Dieringer seeks to notch his 100th collegiate victory and his second consecutive individual title.

No. 12 Kyle Crutchmer (19-6) will face Jadaen Bernstein of Navy in the opening round at 174. Crutchmer is 9-1 in his last 10 matches with the only loss coming against No. 2 Matt Brown of Penn State in sudden victory.

In the opening round at 184, No. 12 Nolan Boyd (26-7) will face Lelund

Weatherspoon of Iowa State in a rematch of the Big 12 title bout. Boyd won that match, 2-1, and he is 1-1 against Weatherspoon on the season. Boyd might face No. 5 Taylor Meeks of Oregon State in the second round. He defeated Meeks, 9-3, earlier in the season.

At heavyweight, No. 4 Austin Marsden (26-2) will look to improve on his eighth-place finish from last year. On paper, Marsden should have no problem until the semifinals. There, he would likely wrestle defending NCAA champion and top-seeded Nick Gwiazdowski (30-0) of North Carolina State. Gwiazdowski defeated Marsden, 4-1, back in February.

Throughout the 2014 season, Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy praised the experience linebacker Josh Furman brought to the table.

During OSU’s Pro Day in the Sherman E. Smith Training Center on Thursday, Furman’s experience came into play again as the senior performed brilliantly.

Furman expects to play safety in the NFL, and the numbers he posted Thursday would’ve placed him among the top safeties in February’s

NFL Combine.

“I’ve worked for three months for this,” Furman said. “It’s kind of like a job interview that I’ve worked all my life for so I had to show out.”

His 38-inch vertical would have ranked third among combine safeties, while his 40-yard time of 4.47 seconds would have ranked fourth.

Furman transferred to OSU from Michigan for his senior season after playing primarily on special teams with the Wolverines. Playing in the star linebacker role, Furman was second on the Cowboys in sacks and fourth in tackles.

He used Pro Day to showcase himself to NFL

teams while inspiring the teammates he’s leaving behind.

“I just wanted to show people what I’ve been doing at Oklahoma State — working out with the strength staff preparing for the Pro Day,” Furman said. “I just wanted to show the younger kids that came out here that were my teammates that anything is possible and to keep working at it.”

SLIMMER CASTLEMAN MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HARD WORK THAN RANKINGS When defensive tackle James Castleman caught a Mason Rudolph pass before

running 48 yards down the field in the 2015 Cactus Bowl, he weighed around 315 pounds.

At Pro Day, now weighing 299 pounds, Castleman said the weight loss could almost be entirely attributed to a change of diet.

“I never did anything out of the ordinary,” Castleman said. “I was working on my diet and working out. My diet alone took care of my weight. I didn’t try to drop weight quickly. I wanted to get below 310 and the diet helped me drop it really low.”

While Castleman’s weight goes down, he might be moving up draft boards.

The Cowboys’ confidence rides high heading into its weekend series against Grand Canyon.

The Cowboys are coming off a midweek series against Alcorn State where OSU outscored its opponent 34-0 over the span of two games.

“You hope that builds some warm fuzzies when you go to sleep at night,” OSU coach Josh Holliday said. “It’s very much a game of confidence.”

The Cowboy pitchers will also head into the weekend confident as they

only allowed two hits and struck out 17 batters.

“It’s going to help us out a lot,” pitcher Garrett Williams said. “We are ready to roll.”

At the plate, the Pokes (10-6) got double-digit hits and RBIs in both games, and only struck out six times during their 79 at-bats. The Cowboys also hit four home runs in the two contests, including an inside-the-park home run
