In a building where the Oklahoma State wrestling team has won 91 percent of its duals, the Cowboys will not be favored Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Fifth-ranked OSU thumped Kent State 42-3 on Sunday in its most recent home contest. But after what coach John Smith deemed the Cowboys’ best performance of the season so far, their toughest competitor of the year will be in Stillwater at 7 p.m. Saturday on Fox Sports Oklahoma.

No. 3 Missouri will look to extend its 15-0 record and end its two-dual skid against OSU. The Tigers haven’t won in GIA since 2009.

“It’s not many times in Gallagher you’re an underdog,” Smith said. “But it looks like we are. We got a two-time national champion (Dean Heil) that’s an underdog in the match as well.

Some odd things, things that we’re not used to anyway.”

141 pounds, will wrestle No. 3 Jaydin Eierman. Heil has two losses this season, both to top-five foes. Eierman’s lone loss is to Wyoming’s Bryce Meredith, who was Heil’s first loss and sits atop the 141-pound weight class.

Heil pinned Kent State’s Tim Rooney his last time out Sunday.

“I’ll say Dean wrestled probably one of his most intimidating matches last match out,” Smith said. “Let’s take that match and move it forward, and I think he’ll find himself back in the groove of chasing down his third title.”

Eierman is one of Missouri’s highest-ranked wrestlers, tied with Grant Leeth, who is ranked third at 149 pounds. The Tigers’ lineup features six top-10 wrestlers compared to OSU’s five.

OSU’s Kaid Brock will take on one of them at 133 pounds in Missouri’s John Erneste, who sits at No. 7.

“Yeah, Missouri’s tough,” Brock said. “But you gotta go out and wrestle.”

No. 10 Virginia Tech as the only team currently in the top 10. The Tigers clinched the Mid-American Conference regular-season title last weekend with a win against No. 17 Central Michigan, but the Chippewas were the only ranked conference foe Missouri competed against.

Coach Mike Boynton didn’t waste time after the Oklahoma State men’s basketball team’s loss in Lubbock, Texas.

After Boynton watched the Cowboys’ film on the way back to Stillwater, he studied footage of their next opponent once he arrived home that Tuesday night.

OSU (13-7) has competed in seven consecutive Big 12 matchups, but its schedule is soon to take a different twist with the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Cowboys will meet Arkansas (14-6) at 5 p.m. Saturday in Fayetteville.

OSU fell to Texas Tech 75-70 in its latest conference game.

But OSU’s last game against Arkansas unfolded in favor of the Cowboys. Although last season’s OSU squad sailed to a 99-71 victory against the Razorbacks in Gallagher-Iba Arena, Boynton said he noticed several of the Razorbacks’ strengths when he examined their recent film.

“They’re really talented,” Boynton said. “They get after you defensively. They’re long and athletic, and they’re deep.”

“They’ll be targeted on him,” Boynton said. “Jeff’s in a different situation this year than he was last year. He is at the top of scouting reports. He is the guy people are game planning for and trying to make things difficult for.”

This season, Carroll averages 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He has accumulated more than 20 points in five of his past 11 games. Although Carroll has missed some critical shots from the free-throw line in recent games, he’s the highest scorer of all returning Big 12 players this season.

2. OSU’s fight against second-half collapse The Cowboys had a 12-point lead against Texas Tech at halftime Tuesday, but their defensive power deflated in the second half, when the Red Raiders went on a 23-8 run and claimed the victory.

“I think that we get too comfortable,” Carroll said. “I thought that we got kind of complacent.”

OSU also had a second-half collapse against Baylor on Jan. 15 in Waco. After the Cowboys held a 1-point advantage at halftime, they succumbed to

The Cowboys seek a way to avoid a third straight loss of momentum in a second half on the road, and Yankuba Sima, a junior center, said the key is focus.

“Right now, we’re starting the games pretty good, and then the second half, we’re having some stretches where we’re not focused at all,” Sima said. “We gotta complete a 40-minute game, and we’re gonna get the win.”

3. Dunk after dunk One Arkansas player has more dunks than three SEC teams this season.

Daniel Gafford, a freshman forward, has tallied 42 dunks.

The Razorbacks can jam, notching 76 dunks in 20 games.

Although Gafford leads Arkansas in dunks, he’s not the only player contributing to that statistic. Adrio Bailey, a sophomore forward, has made 14 dunks, and eight Razorbacks have dunked at least once.

“That’s probably one of their best strengths is their quality of depth,” Boynton said. “They can throw probably 10 guys at you that are all capable of scoring 15 points and a couple guys that are capable of getting 25.”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have probably seen countless social media posts of people playing a certain video game.

The game is known as “Fortnite,” and it is taking the world by storm. The most popular game mode on “Fortnite” is a 100-player battle royale where each player must find weapons, collect materials and ultimately build forts. It is every man for himself, and the last player standing wins.

Here are five reasons you should play “Fortnite.”

1. It’s free

When I first heard “Fortnite” was free, I was a bit skeptical. I thought maybe there is a “lite” version of the game available for free and the full game costs money, but that is not the case. “Fortnite” is available for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac. Of course, there are optional in-game purchases available, but most users will be satisfied with the free version of the game.

2. There is not a big learning curve The controls for “Fortnite” are pretty easy to learn, especially if you have experience playing any other firstperson-shooter game. I don’t consider myself a skilled gamer, but after only a few rounds of “Fortnite,” I felt I could hold my own.

A lot of video games have over-complicated controls that can deter some beginner players from trying to learn the game, but that is not the case with “Fortnite.”

3. You can play with your friends Playing “Fortnite” online against strangers is fun, but the game becomes even more fun when you play with your friends. “Fortnite” offers two different modes where friends can team up into duos or squads. In duos, you and one other friend take on 49 other teams of two, and the last team standing wins.

Squads is the same except instead of 50 teams of two, there are 25 teams of four.

4. Every game is different You never know

what you’re going to get when you start a battle royale. You might land on a house in the middle of nowhere only to find multiple treasure chests filled with rare weapons. You could also land on a house in the middle of nowhere and find that there is literally nothing in the house. This dynamic keeps the game interesting and allows for players with little to no experience to have success after only a few rounds.

5. The sound design is incredible My biggest piece of advice to someone playing ‘Fortnite” is to wear headphones. Being able to hear the game’s sound makes a huge difference. “Fortnite” was designed in a way that allows everything to make noise. For instance, you might hear the subtle rusting of footsteps in the distance or the sweet sound of a treasure chest. Not only does the in-game sound help gameplay, but it also helps set the mood for the game.
