played some in Athens, but was the backup to Stetson Bennett on the 2022 national championship squad. Now at West Virginia, Daniels has one more shot to make his mark on college football. Quarterback Luke Anthony, Baylor, first year: 2016 Being the only seventh-year player on this list, I am not sure how Anthony is still able to play college football. He is currently the third-string quarterback at Baylor, and is unlikely to see any playing time. Running Back: Emari Demercado, TCU, first year: 2017 The only sixthyear running back in the conference, Demercado was the default choice for this list. The former JUCO player, Demercado is currently a backup in TCU’s running back room with 934 yards and four touchdowns in his career thus far.
Most college students, even student-athletes, graduate and leave within four or five years. But with the NCAA awarding all athletes who played in the COVID shortened 2020 season, many around the country are still eligible for college football in 2022. With many in the Big 12, The O’Colly put together a list of the All-Big 12 super senior first team: Quarterback: JT Daniels, West Virginia, first year: 2018 The former No. 2 quarterback in the 2018 recruiting class, Daniels has yet to live up to his five-star ranking. Daniels started at USC for his first two seasons, but dealt with injuries, then transferred to Georgia in 2020. Daniels See Senior on page 3

When going to Florida, business or not, why not try to have a little bit of fun? Cowgirl soccer makes a trip to Florida this week as they take on Florida Atlantic on Thursday and Miami on Sunday. OSU hasn’t made a trip to Florida since 2015 and it will be playing for better results than its previous trip. In 2015, the Cowgirls lost to Central Florida and Florida. No player listed on the Cowgirl roster is from the state of Florida. While the team is in Florida on a business trip, they are going to soak up some of the best amusement the state has to offer. Forward Gracie Bindbeutel singled out a girl who’s been pushing for a beach visit while in the Boca
Raton, Florida, area. “I know Grace Yochum has been pushing for a lot of that kind of stuff, so I think we’ll get to,” Bindbeutel said. “She wants to do some stuff on the water, I don’t even know what all of it entails. But, I know she’s been pushing to do stuff outside of soccer.” Coach Colin Carmichael is excited about the return to Florida, especially because of the slate of games lined up. “We’re playing a very good Florida Atlantic team. Their head coach Patrick Baker is a good friend of mine, known him for years,” Carmichael said. “You know, an ACC team in Miami, they’re going to be very athletic they’re going to be very seasoned from playing in the ACC, so, a really good program. First and foremost, two great games and you
know, we really need that test, if I’m honest with you. We were hoping for this Sunday. So, getting these two games in Florida is going to be great.” Carmichael realizes that the team will be in one of the more touristic areas of the country. With that being the case, he’s going to make sure the girls get to enjoy the trip outside of the competition. “They wanna go see the beach, so we’ll take them to the beach and get to put their feet in the ocean,” Carmichael said. “They’ve asked me about mini golf, so we might do that. I know there’s a big shopping area right by the hotel, that’s always big with the team. We’ll do some stuff, but we’ll also make sure we’re getting that rest and recovery and making sure we’re focusing in on the games
as well.” While Florida may be known for its beautiful waters and cool ocean breeze, it can also get extremely hot and humid. When performing in sports that require constant movement, that can cause muscular issues with athletes, mostly cramping. Carmichael and the nutrition staff have been ahead of the game and making sure the girls are hydrated and ready for the week ahead. “We’re all just talking about that, making sure we’re doing the right things in terms of hydration and getting electrolytes,” midfielder Niah Johnson said. “We’re just making sure we’re doing everything we can so that Thursday and Sunday when game time comes, it’s not a factor.” sports.ed@ocolly.com
