Harvest Carnival and Chili Cook Off united Stillwater community Bella Casey Staff Reporter
An annual tradition and a good cause are all it took to bring together the residents of Stillwater. OSU’s oldest homecoming tradition was paired with the Alumni Association’s Chili Cook Off to welcome Stillwater residents to start Homecoming week with games, a canned food drive and chili at the Payne County Expo Center on Tuesday. From 6-8 p.m., OSU students mingled with Stillwater residents as they explored the carnival and the cook off. “It’s usually campus or commu-
nity, but this is all together,” Melisa Parkerson, a member of the Alumni Association, said. The Harvest Carnival’s educational games were hosted by the student organizations and Greek life houses of OSU and were educationally appropriate for elementary age children. Fiftyfour different games were available for children and students to play. “Greek life has kicked it off and knocked it out of the park,” Amy Parsons said. Admission to the carnival was one canned good per person or $1. The can donation was part of the Harvest II food drive, which distributes the proceeds to local organizations See Story on page 2
