Finding a good home List of some of the best off-campus apartments By Addison Duling Staff Reporter It’s that time of year. As the school year ends, it is time to start preparing for the next one, which means apartment and house hunting. Here is a short description of a few of the popular apartment selections for OSU students to live off-campus.

Midtown The Midtown Apartments are located on Ramsey and 4th Street, about a block from campus. The building offers 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-bedroom apartments. Every bedroom has a private bathroom and connects to a common living room and kitchen. The common amenities include a rooftop pool, a fitness Courtesy of pexels.com.

The Beard-Signal Standlee saves the day, Cowboys avoid sweep

Ben Hutchens Staff Reporter The Beard-Signal went up last night when OSU pitching coach Rob Walton told Brett Standlee he was starting. When Batman is needed most, he responds to the Bat-Signal in the sky. Oklahoma State sophomore pitcher Brett Standlee isn’t identified by a bat in the sky, but rather his beard. Standlee responded to the call in OSU’s 7-3 victory over Texas. He threw a gutsy six innings, surrendering only two runs and striking out a career-high 10 batters. “As we sit here today in the circumstances our team was in, really needing a victory and having fought through some tough losses and having some pitchers not available, our team needed him,” OSU head coach Josh Holliday said. Injuries to normal starting pitchers Parker Scott and Justin Wroboleski put the Cowboys rotation in a bind Sunday,

especially considering the No. 3 Texas Longhorns had taken both games of a doubleheader Saturday. Standlee, who has appeared in 17 games this season as a reliever, reverted back to his 2019 ways when he was a starting pitcher. “I’ve gotten used to coming out of the bullpen this year, so that was kind of my comfort zone but it’s something I did in the past was start, so I just kind of had to go back to my old ways a little bit my roots and just pretend it was two years ago,” Standlee said. Standlee got in some trouble in the sixth inning when he walked two batters and hit another, loading up the bases with no outs. Walton visited the mound for a chat. “(Walton) was like, ‘You’ve been in this situation before coming out of the pen, nothing new right here, dig down and really reach that next level of focus and concentration and just trust your stuff and you’ll be able to get out of this like you used to,”’ Standlee said. Standlee retired the next three Longhorns, two of them via the strikeout, ending the threat. “Just a compliment to him and See Beard on pg. 6

Aspen Heights Aspen Heights is a gated community about a 10-minute drive from campus but includes private shuttle buses that run directly from the property to campus on weekdays. The buses also run to and from the strip every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Some community amenities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, clubhouse, business center, spa, volleyball and basketball courts, and a media room. Each apartment has individual bedrooms and private bedrooms.

The Lodges The Lodges are located on Duck Street in a short walking distance from campus. Each apartment includes two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living space. Second and third floor apartments include a balcony.

The Reserve on Perkins The Reserve on Perkins is a drive distance from campus but is located on the OSU bus route. Some shared community spaces in the complex include a hot tub, swimming pool, club house, volleyball and basketball court, and on-site maintenance. Each apartment includes a private bedroom and bathroom as well as either a balcony or patio.

One on 4th One on 4th is located right next to the Midtown apartments, walking distance from campus. The

complex offers studio, 1-, 2or 4-bedroom floor plans. All attached bathrooms are private. Some community amenities include private courtyards, resort-style pool, fitness center, business center, and a clubhouse.

Stillwater Flats The Stillwater Flats are located next to The Lodges, less than half a mile walk to campus. In addition, it is located on two of the OSU bus routes. The complex offers 1-, 2- or 4- bedroom floor plans with private bathrooms. Some shared community spaces include a pool and sundeck, cardio center, outdoor drilling station, business center, and study lounge. In addition, there is a parking garage included with rent, private access gates, and 24-hour maintenance service.

The Quarters at Stillwater The Quarters are located just north of campus on Boomer Road. Floor plan options include a one-bedroom, onebathroom; a two-bedroom, two-bathroom; and a fourbedroom, four-bathroom. All apartments also include a private balcony or patio. Some community amenities include a fitness center, resort-style pool with poolside cabanas, fire pits, a dog park, club room, study lounge, outdoor lounge, on-site parking, and on-site maintenance.

Prime Place Prime Place is located one block from campus on Elm Street. The complex offers the selection of furnished or unfurnished studios, 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom apartments. The future of agriculture groundbreaking ceremony marks beginning of construction for new ag hall

Maddison Farris News Editor On Friday a groundbreaking ceremony took place to initiate and welcome the construction of the new agriculture building. The New Frontiers Agriculture Hall. “OSU Agriculture has the most dedicated donors and alumni behind it, and

their support of the New Frontiers campaign shows the significance of this new facility,” said President Burns Hargis at the ceremony. “This new building would not be possible without the support of our loyal and true donors who stepped up to invest not just in bricks and mortar but in the agricultural innovations of tomorrow.” This building aims to bring a modern face to the new age of agriculture research, communication and community. More than 330 donations have been made to the

fund for this building and construction is set to begin immediately. For student Alexei Archuleta, a senior in animal science, this new building means a lot to the future of agriculture at OSU. “I’m excited about the New Frontiers building because it will allow future ag students to have a space geared toward their continued learning as well as a space meant for studying and having fun in a place specifically designed for agricultural majors, which is something I feel like I wasn’t able to experience

fully,” Archuleta said. Also included in the ceremony was the release of the menu for the reimagined Dairy Bar that is planned to be on the first floor of the new building. Many alumni remember the Dairy Bar and are excited for its opening, along with the new building in 2023. “I used to get a bagel with butter every morning,” said Carrie Reynolds, a 1998 alumna. “It will be fun to see the new Dairy Bar when it opens,” Reynolds said. news.ed@ocolly.com

After hits from Pennington and Petty that kept a second inning rally moving, Alexander broke the game open. After a bunt attempt went awry, she took a full cut on her next pitch. Alexander put it over the wall in left-center for her second home run of the year. The plan to start the at-bat was to bunt for a safety squeeze. Going yard, however, also worked to advance the runner. “I have sneaky strength,” Alexander said. “When you look at me, I don’t look super strong. But I have the ability to hit with power. I wouldn’t call myself a homerun hitter. When I’m trying to hit I’m more focused on line drives.” Although the Cowgirls only had one more hit than the Bears, it was the home team able to capitalize on those hits. Senior Haley Busby cut the game short in the bottom of the sixth with a 2-run shot to center field. That ended the game telecasted on ESPN2 and provided an exciting cap to the game that started off with plenty of buzz. “Definitely in the first inning I felt like the energy in the whole place was amped up,” Eberle said. “That was exciting. Great preparation for the big games we do have coming up. That’s what it’s going to be like every game from here on out.”

For the guys it was a must win situation in my mind so I’m glad the bats got going and gave me some extra cushion cause we needed it but I’m thankful to grit it out and get it done.” Batman always saves the day. Standlee’s effort on limited notice saved the Cowboys from being swept for the second consecutive weekend and gave them something positive to think about heading into a three game Bedlam series next weekend. “Today was a wildcard and luckily Brett Standlee was the ace. Runners not scorers OSU completes sweep of Baylor Sam Hutchens Staff Reporter Carrie Eberle didn’t have her best game. But when it counted most, she brought her best stuff. Oklahoma State beat Baylor 11-3 on Sunday in Stillwater in run-rule fashion. Winning with Eberle is the circle is nothing new

for OSU — the senior pitcher improved her record to (16-1). If the result was the usual, though, then the method was the opposite. Baylor batters frequented the bases.
