Entrepreneurial future Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise Logan Smith Staff Reporter The Institute of the Study of Free Enterprise (ISFE) is a campus organization which aims to “foster campuswide discussion on issues related to value creation in society, competitive markets, economic freedom, personal liberty and human flourishing.” In subjects such as agriculture and education, the group applies its major principles of free market to real world happenings. Dr. Steve Trost, director of the ISFE, spoke on his plans for the group next year. “Encourage students to be independent thinkers,” Trost said. “That really is kind of the essence of our involvement with students.” Each Monday night talk is sponsored by the ISFE and followed up with a student discussion Tuesday afternoon. Sponsored by and separate from The Institute of the Study of Free Enterprise, the Free Enterprise Society (FES) is a campus-wide, student-run organization with similar goals. See Future on pg. 2

40th Annual Student Juried Exhibition displays student talent By Ellen Slater Staff Reporter Oklahoma State University students’ art pieces are officially on display this week for the 40th Annual Juried Expedition. The annual show gives students a chance to submit five pieces of art, whether it be 2D, 3D, or graphic art from any art course that they have taken at OSU. Courtney Juen, an OSU student studying fine arts with a focus in ceramics and printmaking, has two pieces in the show that she has been tirelessly working throughout this semester. “It’s a huge honor to have my work selected and displayed amongst my peers, and was an affirming personal push to continue making work and putting it out there,” Juen said. part of the department for me has been the mentorships and friendships that are fostered within the studio,” Juen said. “Whether we’re
collaborating in classes, laughing in the studio at 2 a.m., or grabbing dinner; there’s a closeness between us all that transcends friendship and becomes more like family.” Awards and placements for the art show are predicted to be announced Monday evening at the latest. Around 200 pieces were entered into the show in hopes of being put on display, and 36 were picked to be exhibited. Pieces range from Courtney Juen’svase, Mindful clay, and Averi Adams’ sculpture, Life Blood. These are just two of many other pieces by their fellow classmates. The art show will be on display in the Gardener Gallery located on OSU’s campus. It is open from April 19-30. Everyone is encouraged to go and support these cowboy and cowgirl art students after a semester of hard work. entertainment.ed@ocolly.com
