Cowboys swept in Fort Worth after disastrous eighth inning Ben Hutchens Staff Reporter The Cowboys were swept for the first time this season. No. 13 Oklahoma State fell victim to a poor eighth inning against No. 12 TCU in Fort Worth Sunday afternoon. The Horned Frogs scored 7 runs in the frame en route to a 12-6 victory. The Cowboys played the Horned Frogs close all series long, but the inning gone awry will make the return trip to Stillwater feel a little longer. See Cowboys on pg. 6

DON’T STUMBLE! (Part #3) “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate one another,” (Mt.24:9-10) All this I told you so that you will not go astray. (stumble) They will put you out of the synagogue, in fact a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God.” (Jn.16:1-2) The are many places in the scripture that tell of persecution of true believers. Jesus said if they did it to me they will do it to those who follow me. (Jn.15:20) Many times this will separate the true believers from the false. No one likes hardships, difficulties and certainly persecutions, but the challenge comes and we don’t want to stumble and fall away.
Jesus speaks to the Smyrna church in Revelation: "I know your afflictions...slander...do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer...the Devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be careful..." Does God allow persecution and trials of different kinds? He certainly does! Couldn't God deliver them out of bad situations? Of course! Sometimes He will and sometimes not. He even governs how long the difficulties will last. These are times when we see the grace of God in wonderful ways. His grace is made perfect in weaknesses. (2 Co.12:9) That is why we are not to be offended at God's ways. Difficulties can seem to be hindering the very work of God, but the Lord is working in and through the situation to accomplish something good in the end.

Vaccine Q & A Why student Hadley DeJarnette chose Johnson and Johnson By Bailey Sisk Staff Reporter
frightening, especially with how little we know about the disease and the vaccine.
The Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is paused for the time being making some Americans leery of the vaccine until more details are discovered by medical professionals. Nonetheless, sophomore Hadley DeJarnette answered questions regarding why she got the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
Q: Has the pause made you reconsider your decision on getting the vaccine? A: No, I’m still glad I got the vaccine. I just wish I would have known more about it before getting vaccinated. Q: If you have to get boosters or a yearly shot, will the pause affect which formula you choose in the future?
Q: Why did you get the vaccine? A: As soon as the vaccine came out, I knew I wanted to get vaccinated for the health and safety of myself and those around me. I didn’t decide to get vaccinated until after seeing my doctor. I described how I had been feeling tired and still didn’t have my sense of smell back ever since the beginning of the semester and she explained that I could have long term symptoms of COVID-19 and that the vaccine could potentially help those symptoms decrease. Q: Did you have a preference about which company’s formula you would receive? A: No, but I did like the appeal of the Johnson and Johnson because it was

know about the pause on the vaccine?
Q: What side effects did you experience after receiving the vaccine?
A: Not much, I saw that they were pausing the use of the vaccine because of six cases of unusual blot clots, but I didn’t look into the news story very much.
A: I had all the normal COVID symptoms on a more extreme level: headache, fatigue, body aches, brain fog, etc. The weirdest symptom I experienced was extreme leg pain mainly in my shins. Every time I tried to stand it felt like a lightning bolt was running down my legs. This made it difficult to walk but, luckily, it only lasted one night. Q: What all do you
Q: How do you feel about the recent news that the J&J vaccine might cause serious side effects? A: It definitely makes me nervous, especially because I have had really unusual side effects as a result of COVID and the vaccine. It comforts me that there are only six cases, but it is still
A: Probably, if another strain is safer or has less conflicts of interest, I would definitely choose that over one that may have worse side effects. Q: What would you say to someone who is considering getting the vaccine? A: Personally, I still think it is important to get the vaccine to do our part to contribute to our own health and the well-being of our society. I think we are all ready for the world to go back to normal and getting a vaccine will help bring us closer to achieving that goal. entertainment.ed@ocolly.com

sports Cowboys... Continued from pg. 1 TCU walked four times in the inning, two of which were given up by OSU pitcher and infielder Nolan McLean, who was making his first appearance on the mound of his college career. McLean’s inexperience showed, as the pitch clock expired on him and contributed to one of the walks that left the bases loaded for TCU infielder Brayden Taylor. OSU coach Josh Holliday inserted young right-hander Bryce Osmond into the game. Taylor delivered an impressive swing on a pitch Osmond left elevated and hit a grand slam to give the Horned Frogs a 10-6 lead with only one inning to play. It was a disappointing way for a tough weekend series to finish for the Cowboys. OSU lost the first two games of the series by one run, and although all three games of the series were close into the late innings, the Cowboys now find themselves with little momentum heading into a home stand where they will face Arkansas Pine-Bluff and No. 3 Texas. sports.ed@ocolly.com
