Abroad but locked in
OSU’s Chloe Blue’s Experience in France By Ellen Slater

When Chloe Blue started planning to study abroad during the spring 2021 semester, she never would have imagined that it would be amid a worldwide pandemic. The Oklahoma State junior started preparing to study abroad back in fall 2019. Blue was assigned to the University of Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France. There was a time when she was not sure if she would be able to go abroad due to the pandemic, but because of Oklahoma State deeming her studies in France as essential, she was a part of a fraction of students that were able to carry on with their travel plans. Blue is a French
major, which is why OSU deemed her studies in France essential. She is the only OSU student who is studying abroad at this particular university this semester. While her classmates back in Stillwater are taking precautions in classes with socially distanced seating and mask-wearing, Blue’s precautions across the world are looking even more strict. “All of my classes are online because the French government has all universities shut nationally,” Blue said. “It’s so different. There’s actually rules and measures in place here, and people follow them way more than in Oklahoma.” Blue’s area is currently in a lockdown that will probably last See Abroad on pg. 2

Abroad Continued from pg. 1 for three weeks due to the new variant of coronavirus. Oklahoma is not in any sort of lockdown at the moment, even though the same variant has made its way to the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Blue said the hardest part of her first few weeks in France has been meeting people since she is not going to class in person or interacting with other students as much as she would like to be. Blue plans to finish out the semester at the French university and return to OSU for her senior year next fall. “I’m trapped inside, but at least I have the croissants,” Blue said. CHRIST’S CHURCH! I became a Christian in November 1956 in Japan while a member of the U.S. Air force. Shortly after, a friend and I traveled to visit some missionaries. While talking with one, I asked him; Which group or church should I join? There are so many. Which one is right? Wisely, he did not answer my question directly, but handed me a church card and said, I have heard that God is working in a wonderful way at this church. If you get an opportunity, it would be good to go by and visit. On my way back to my base, I prayed that the Lord would get me stationed near Waco, Texas if he wanted me to visit this church. My orders came in a few days later, I was stationed at Ft. Worth, Texas, 85 miles from Waco. I had a wonderful time there. Was it a perfect church? No! But God taught me many good things while there that
laid a solid foundation for my Christian life. The real church (Called out ones) is made up of individuals around the world who have responded to the gospel message. They have opened their hearts to Christ, put their trust in Him as their Saviour and Lord. Their sins are forgiven and they have a new life by the Holy Spirit. The church is growing in China and the Far east. Though persecuted, God is calling out people in the Middle East. The church is South America is expanding in many places. All over the World, people are responding to the call of Christ to trust and follow him. The meetings and outward forms vary, but the Lord is building his church. (Mt.16:18) God’s love gift, the good news, is still offered to all through Christ. Be sure it is yours! Come and follow Jesus!

Stillwater COVID-19 update: Jan 27 By Ryan Novozinsky The official Oklahoma coronavirus database on Monday reported 414 active cases in Stillwater. These new numbers bring the city’s total cases to 5,521 with 21 deaths and 5,086 recoveries. On the state level, the health department reported 2,686 new cases, bringing the total confirmed positive cases to 379,110. The most common symptoms of the coronavirus are fever, cough, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell. O’Colly file photo.
