Proud Title Sponsor FREE Checking with eStatements 5 Branches Serving Orange County SDCCU (San Diego County Credit Union) is a proud community partner. Founded in 1938 on the principle that people come first and profits second, we believe our forward-thinking approach to the financial industry is what propelled SDCCU to become one of the largest credit unions in California, proudly serving the financial needs of more than 403,000 customers in Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties. With five branches in Orange County, SDCCU’s community focus has expanded as the proud returning title sponsor of the SDCCU OC Marathon and Half Marathon. As a top financial institution in the country, many have asked us why we chose to be the title sponsor of the SDCCU OC Marathon—a big event primarily focused on physical health. The answer is simple. We understand the correlation between physical and financial health. Research shows that poor financial health can often lead to diminished physical health, which means encouraging and maintaining good financial health among individuals in our communities is essential to fostering a healthy and thriving economy. So when it comes to getting fit and being healthy, it’s important to be financially fit, too. SDCCU is committed to helping individuals in our community improve their financial health by helping them make educated financial decisions and delivering some of the best financial products and services. SDCCU offers free financial seminars through our partnerships with industry experts as well as free financial webinars, financial counseling and identity theft protection education. Mayor Welcome Letter Welcome to the City of Costa Mesa and thank you for participating in the 2019 SDCCU OC Marathon and Half Marathon, which is celebrating its 15th Anniversary. We look forward each year to the marathon and the entire weekend of activities that include the Kids Run the OC, the OC 5K and the OC Half Marathon events. This year, it is expected that about 23,000 people will take part in the weekend events, including over 9,100 kids in the Kids Run the OC, 2,800 - 3,000 in the OC 5K, 8,500 in the half marathon and 2,300 in the full marathon. We know that many OC Marathon participants are not from Costa Mesa. Because of that, it is our hope that as you visit our town, also known as the City of the Arts, that you will spend some time getting to know our amazing and eclectic community. Enjoy the award-winning cuisine in our many fine dining restaurants, catch a live performance at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts or simply take a stroll through our world renown shopping center South Coast Plaza. We also have unique shopping experiences and retail venues at The Camp, The Lab and SoCo. If leisurely activities are more your style, Costa Mesa is rich in open space with active parks as well and natural surroundings and wildlife views that can be found in our Fairview and Canyon parks. Or, if you are in the mood for golf, you can play a round at our city-owned Costa Mesa Country Club. Finally, our proximity to the ocean and beaches allows us to enjoy near perfect weather and cool breezes all year round. I think you will soon find out that Costa Mesa is a great place to live, work or visit. Thank you and good luck.

LETTER FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR Welcome to the 15th Anniversary SDCCU OC Marathon weekend of events! Once again, we are so proud to welcome runners and walkers from 44 states and 24 countries including Albania and Martinique to the 15th Annual OC Running Festival, featuring the SDCCU OC Marathon and Half Marathon, the OC 5K and the Kids Run the OC here in beautiful Orange County, California. What began back in 2004 with a vision of supporting Orange County children’s charities has grown to become a world-class running event in Southern California. There are so many things that bring runners to the event every year. We encourage participants to Make their Miles Matter and raise much needed dollars for one of our 17 Official Charities or to select an important cause of their own. This year, our charities will exceed $500,000 and since 2004, the OC Marathon will have helped our charity partners to raise over $6 million dollars to support their various missions. This is also our third year for the OC Corporate Challenge, designed to encourage participation in a fun event that promotes workplace wellness, advocating for a healthier lifestyle and building camaraderie. This year , we are extremely proud that our Kids Run the OC (KROC) program won the 2019 Running USA Youth Event/Program of the Year. What is truly amazing is that our youth running program has expanded even further by now being in 170 schools in Orange County and we will have a staggering 9,000 children running their “Final Mile” on Saturday morning. This year, we welcome back Mothers Market as our official t-shirt sponsor. Memorial Care is our new official bib sponsor, as well as other new healthy drink and food sponsors Annie’s Homegrown and Kids Healthy Foods. Please come by the festival fields just west of the Expo Hall to watch some of our kids run their final mile. You too, will be inspired! After the kids finish running and in partnership with Lululemon, we are having a giant Runner’s Yoga class at 1:00 PM on Saturday with Anthony Chavez in the main mall. Also, be sure to visit the SDCCU Lounge in the center of the Main Mall. They will have many fun activities including a chance to step into the SDCCU Money Cube with a winner every hour. Right after yoga at 2:00 PM, you won’t want to miss a special showing of the Award-Winning documentary Skid Row Marathon on our huge Jumbotron in the main mall. The SKID ROW MARATHON follows four runners as they rise from the mean streets of LA to run marathons around the world, fighting the pull of homelessness and addiction at every turn. This showing is free to the public. Saturday at 5:00 PM, the OC 5K takes place with music on the main stage before and after the run. Food trucks and sponsors will be out promoting their products. Come run the race or just spectate and join the fun. Sunday morning, the Full Marathon starts at 5:30 AM and the Half Marathon starts at 6:15 AM. There is nothing like seeing thousands lined up at the starting line in Newport Beach as the sun just starts to come up. Enjoy one of the most beautiful courses in California with an amazing finish at the OC Fair and Event Center and enjoy the Ultimate Finish Line Festival with Flashback Heart Attack, America’s #1 80’s band. None of this is possible without the generosity and support of our partners/sponsors that help our event take place. We are so proud to welcome back San Diego County Credit Union as our title sponsor of the SDCCU OC Marathon events. SDCCU has five branches in Orange County and is committed to helping individuals improve their own financial health and wellness. Runners will stay fully hydrated and have their best performance with Peak Hydrate both on course and when they finish. Following the race, runners will get to enjoy a post-race beer by 26.2 Brew, a new craft beer created by runners for runners. Recovery is extremely important for runners and we welcome O2 Health Labs to help our runners train and recover to be their best. O2 Therapies include Cryotherapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapies and much more. Book your spot at O2HealthLab.com. Qure Alkaline Water will be provided at the Finish Line to refresh, renew and revitalize your body after your race. While you are at the expo, make sure to visit other sponsors like Mazda, Road Runner Sports, 361 Degrees as they look forward to enhancing your race experience this weekend! We also welcome back Travel Costa Mesa, Massage Envy Spa, UPS, Honey Stinger, Alta Dena (TruMoo), and our official host hotels, the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa and the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa. Of course, we could not do any of this without this most special group of people, our volunteers. These amazing people, many that may not even run, start their day at zero-dark thirty, stand around for hours offering water or assistance and always encouragement to people that may or may not say thank you. Please know that you are appreciated by all of these runners and all of us at the OC Marathon. Lastly, a very special thank you to the city staff, public safety departments of our four host cities, Newport Beach, Irvine, Santa Ana and Costa Mesa, as well as the County of Orange and the various other agencies that make this event possible. Our OC staff, and the amazing team from Book That Event as well as more than 2,000 volunteers and charities are dedicated to putting on an amazing weekend for all of you. We wish you the best of luck and thank you for participating in the 2019 events! Gary Kutscher, Race Director
