2019-2020 Anuual Fund
Oakwood parents, Kevin and Jennifer Youngs, served for a second year as our Annual Fund Co-Chairs. They lent their wisdom and creativity to this effort, tirelessly led a team of dedicated parent volunteers through two text-a-thons, and rallied our current parents and faculty and staff to all-time high Annual Fund participation rates! They also introduced the weekly raffle prizes and garnered excitement through our students on the breezeway to put the FUN in Oakwood’s Annual FUNd. Their belief, passion, and love for Oakwood are truly remarkable.

MAkING A DIFFERENcE “Challenges make us more resilient in life, and better prepared to handle whatever life throws at you moving forward. It might not feel this way in this current moment, but I promise you when you reflect back in 10 years, like me, you’ll know this time made you stronger. Here is my wisdom for you: Listen to understand, not to respond.
Always believe in yourself. No matter what, always be kind and try to “out nice” ; Remember that you’ll never regret showing kindness in a time that others would not expect it. Practice gratitude and remember to celebrate each victory or step, no matter how small.” Sue Ann Forrest gave the commencement address at Oakwood’s intimate, outside graduation ceremony for seniors and their families on May 31st. She spoke of resiliency, listening for understanding, and kindness— all traits that align with the Oakwood mission statement. Sue ann was accepted into Campbell University's doctor of Health Sciences Program and works as the assistant director of Legislative Relations for the NC Medical Society. Sue ann is also beginning a term serving on Oakwood’s Board of Trustees.
