Trust-Based Relational intervention Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed model designed to help children, youth, and adults who have experienced adversity. Developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University, TBRI trains adults to build trust, respond to challenging behavior with compassion, structure, and foster healing environments.

The Center for Relational Healing

The Center for Relational Healing is an emerging support system based in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Using certified Trust-Based Relational Intervention practitioners we equip professionals who work with traumatized children and youth with tools to understand the impact of trauma on the developing brain, and to respond with empowering principles. The Center will train professionals to build trust, respond to challenging behavior with compassion, and structure, and to foster healing environments.

The Center supports professionals in shifting from reactive models to proactive, relational strategies that promote safety, stability, and resilience.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES INTRODUCE TBRI Expand awareness of this life-altering training that benefits not only the child but the professionals who work with them and the community as a whole.

TRAIN AREA PROFESSIONALS Train area professionals who engage with justice-involved and other traumatized youth via multiple disciplines to develop trust-based bonds that have proven to alter the violent and other negative behaviors.

IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH By broadly employing TBRI in the St. Louis region, By equipping professionals with tools to manage stress and build meaningful connections, TBRI fosters mental wellness not only in youth they support by promoting healing, trust, and long-term resilience, but also in the professionals themselves.

REDUCE VIOLENCE & CRIME Through this ground-breaking intervention, our goal is to equip professionals with effective tools to change the behaviors of children and youth who have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences. By interupting negative behavior we also reduce the numbet of youth punished and/or incarcerated.
