Well hello there, friends. It’s my pleasure to introduce CHSTR, a magazine celebrating the Latinx community and its iconic creators who are leaving their mark on culture by going against the grain in unique ways. From music and fashion, to art, sports, and beyond, Latinx creatives are blazing new trails. It’s in that pioneering spirit that we continue the narrative of Deja tu Huella, a multi-platform initiative which aims to inspire and empower tomorrow’s creative leaders to leave their own mark.

Deja tu Huella, which translates to “leave your mark”, aims to highlight today’s culture-defining Latinx creators and inspire future generations. As part of this campaign, Cheetos created a limited-edition clothing collection with adidas and Grammy Award-winning singer and rapper, Bad Bunny. The collection is inspired by the unique flair and flavorful perspective of Latinx culture, accentuated by the boldness of Cheetos Flamin’ Hot.

THE HITMAKER

TAINY

Marco “Tainy” Masís is an award-winning producer and songwriter from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tainy has worked with iconic musicians and has been an instrumental part of developing the sound of modern pop music for over a decade, making global hits in the process. Tainy says leaving your mark on culture isn’t optional for creators, it’s a duty to the next generation.

Tainy is a co-founder of HUMAN(X), a multimedia charity initiative with the purpose of curating and sending messages of humanity, and generating resources to support causes that take care of those in need.

Q&A Q: How do you express your individuality?

A: I always wanted to find my place, and the best way that I could do that with all these greats was just show them who I am and show them what makes me different…so I always had that click in my head—was to show them who I was and that’s what’s going to resonate with the artists.

Q: What makes you most happy?

A: To see that I can influence and inspire other people I think is something that fills me with joy, that what I’m doing is inspiring a kid just like how I was inspired.

THE TRAILBLAZER

ROCSI DIAZ

Rocsi Diaz is an award-winning Honduran-American television and radio host. After relocating to New Orleans at a young age, Rocsi was inspired by the city’s diverse culture and legendary music scene to pursue an unconventional career. Her meteoric rise can be explained by her talent, yes, but also by her personality–she leads by example. Rocsi wants to leave her mark by showing how she balances hustling with staying true to herself and being a part of her community. She participates in initiatives focused on voting and health resources and hopes to be an inspiration to other Latinas aspiring to work in entertainment.

Q&A Q: What does leaving your mark mean to you?

A: I think leaving your mark is when you’re not in the presence of others, and others are speaking about you – they’re speaking about you in a positive way.

Q: What advice would you share with people who are trying to go on a similar path?

A: Definitely study those that came before you.

There’s so much free information out there that was not available during my time coming up, but I think studying and looking at how others paved the way is a good example.
