Twelve children eagerly participated in the January 29 session of the 123 Cook With Me program offered by the Community Association for Lasting Success at Vegreville Centennial Library.

CALS Family Literacy Coordinator Erika Trufyn said this is a five-week cooking program in which families engage in literacy and numeracy activities.

“By participating in our cooking programs, caregivers and children benefit by increasing and encouraging literacy skills through reading recipes, food labels, and instructions together. Cooking-related words and discussions enhance vocabulary and comprehension, foster teamwork and communication, and encourage parental involvement in learning opportunities.
